I had hired Marshall's Handyman Service to remodel a bathroom and during the remodel he made the following mistakes making the use of the bathroom unsafe: he cut the floor trusses; the pipes were glued and had reverse flow and particle board was put in under the shower and bathtub. If the particle board had gotten wet both the shower and the tub would have fallen through the floor - as the bathroom is on the second floor - it would have been about a two-foot drop. There is an entire laundry list of mistakes he made including randomly slapping paint on the bathroom cabinets (it did not need to be painted but, he was trying to cover up mistakes he made) installed a pony wall that was not level but, at a slant and he put divots in both the bedroom and bathroom doors that now need to be replaced. My current contractor who is in the process of fixing the mistakes has photos of the damages - here's his contact email please: ********************* at **********************

Spent well over $15,000 for this contractor to fix and paint my walls, replace baseboards and door jambs, tile floors, and lay vinyl flooring. Most of the work done was poor quality, and after the final payment was made it was like pulling teeth to try to get him to come back to finish. He never finished the job.

    Business Response

She's stating that I did not complete the job. The job was completed 100% to her satisfaction. She hired a contractor that was not insured or licensed. I went in and did an estimate to complete what the original contractor damaged. An employee and I went in and repaired the flooring and walls that he damaged. We painted the entire interior of the house and installed baseboards and laminate flooring. We installed heating vent covers. We also installed lighting fixtures and ceiling fans at no charge. The work was completed to her satisfaction. When she needed work that needed to be completed, I came in to complete it on my time off. She wanted to replace the walk-in shower in the master bathroom. I removed the existing walk-in shower that was cracked and leaking. Installed a flooring pan and ceramic tile on the wall and the vents. The only thing that was remaining was grouting and installing the walk-in shower door. Keep note that the shower that I was working on was out of friendship and at no charge. The job that she is stating that she wants a refund on was completed 100% to her satisfaction.

I will not be refunding any money on a job that was completed to her satisfaction. I offered several times to go in and complete the shower and she told me numerous times don't bother. She stated its ok and she is not in a hurry. I still consider her a friend. I have before and after pictures of everything on my company application. Why should I pay her back what she paid for supplies. Her supplies came out to $11,000 and the job was completed to her satisfaction. I'm not going to refund her any money.

I am rejecting this response because: the job was never completed to my satisfaction. He is well aware of the poor workmanship by himself and his colleague which I have mentioned to him several times. Regardless of what was spent on the job, items such as door frames that were installed unevenly; cracks in the flooring left unfixed; unfinished painting; paint drips on the walls were not fixed; dishwasher left uninstalled; wall texture splatter left on doors, windows, and doorknobs; exposed nail holes on baseboards and door frames; uninstalled ceiling fans; mess was left in my yard, house siding, porch, and deck from debris blown off of my roof. All of these items will cost money to clean up and/or fix - and these are just the items I can think of off of the top of my head.
