I puchased a 2017 Ram **** 6.7 Cummins on September 30, 2022 for the price of $52,481.84 from Corwin Ford Tri Cities. I purchased the vehicle with ****** miles. ***** to purchasing the vehicle, I observed residual oil on the transmission bell housing. I addressed this issue with the saleswoman. The saleswoman informed me she would check with the mechanic who did a pre-sale inspection on the vehicle, however, stated they would most likely not remember the vehicles and any issues it had. ***** to sale, one of the sales personnel claimed they looked underneath the vehicle and observed the oil leak, offering a $1,500 discount. On October 13, 2022, I brought the vehicle to ****************** in ********, ***** for inspection of the oil leak. At the point I brought the vehicle in, it had ****** miles. ***** inspection, ****************** informed me the cam case seal was leaking oil and there was an internal oil seal leak on the turbo, requiring a new turbo assembly and cam case gasket to repair. The total repair costs totaled $9,605.16. I contacted Corwin **** to inform them of the findings. The sales manager informed me they had no record of any oil leak located during the pre-sale inspection, however, did acknowledge the sales individual did observe oil on the transmission bell housing prior to sale. The sales manager informed me they had offered me either the $1,500 discount (which was provided) or their mechanics could look at the oil leak (this option was never provided prior to sale or at any point after). Corwin **** refused to contribute any financial reimbursement for the costs associated with repairing the vehicle, despite the vehicle being in this condition while for sale on their sale's lot. Corwin **** stated I could either return the vehicle for full refund or pay them, at my expense, to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was unable to be driven to Corwin **** at the risk of catastrophic turbo failure. Corwin **** didn't offer a tow truck for transport.

At the time of the sale both parties were aware of the oil leak. Two options provided were: 1) Buy the vehicle As Is with a $1500 discount 2) Wait for our shop to do the repairs and more thorough inspection. The option chosen by the customer was to purchase the truck As Is with a discount. Few days later we received a call informing us the repairs were going to be approximately $9500, we declined to participate in the repairs as our agreement had no provision for us paying anything more for repairs. There are several documents clearly stating the vehicle was sold As Is. For the sake of customer service we offered to look at the vehicle in our shop to potentially save on the cost of repairs or even cancel the deal and take the vehicle back for a full refund. Only at that point we found out the customer already gave another shop the go ahead to repair the vehicle and the repairs were in progress. Us paying a third party was not a part of our agreement. Since we did not get the opportunity to look at the vehicle and inspect it ourselves, nor we got the opportunity to just buy the vehicle back, we feel the customer made a decision that was outside our original agreement and therefore the responsibility is the customers alone.

      Complaint: 18314296

I am rejecting this response because:

The dealership at no point offered to inspect the vehicle prior to sale, only offering a $1,500 discount. The dealership was only aware of the oil leak as a result of me inspecting the vehicle pre-sale and informing them of the leak.

The dealership has no record of any oil leak noted during the pre-sale inspection, however, acknowledged there was a pre-existing oil leak only after I observed and addressed the issue.

The dealership failed to properly inspect the vehicle prior to sale and ultimately sold a vehicle with major mechanical issues as a result of their sub-par pre-sale vehicle inspection.

The dealership failed to acknowledge that the vehicle was unable to be safely driven to their dealership at the risk of catastrophic turbo failure and offered no means of transportation (tow truck, etc.) to their operation.

The dealership did not offer any financial reimbursement, even partial, for the costs to repair the vehicle, despite them being aware of the oil leak prior to sale at their facility.

The processes the dealership has in place to inspect vehicles prior to sale were faulty and ultimately resulted in a vehicle being placed on their sale lot with pre-existing issues that were not addressed and repaired prior to sale.

      Sincerely,

      ***************************

**** at Corwin sold me a used 2014 ******* in May. When I checked the oil in June after driving maybe 400 miles the oil was almost black (definitely not new). It was a color that needed to be changed and was dangerous to drive with. I had to pay for an oil change on my own dime. I tried contacting my sales man twice over a week with no response. Finally got in contact with a manager who said the oil was replaced however it is not possible the oil was changed with new oil prior to my purchase. I have a picture of the oil. Sent it to the manger who stated he had proof it was replaced however the color of the oil in my car was not new. I believe the tech just topped off the oil and did not replace it which is obviously dangerous and a lie to the costumer.

We appreciate the feedback, as a part of the inspection process oil is drained, new filter is installed, and oil is changed. Only 400 miles represents 10 hours of engine operation in average driving conditions so it would be hard for oil to look new after that period of time. We are a large company, will do not risk our reputation to save $15 in oil.

Today, 5/18/2022, I called ********************* at Corwin Ford Tri-Cities about scheduling service for a recall on my 2015 **** Escape only to be informed that his manager named ****** told him not to service my vehicle based on negative reviews I had posted previously about my experience. I had an appointment scheduled for 07/11/2022 to have my vehicle serviced and they cancelled it without my knowledge. I purchased an extended warranty and have to take my vehicle to Corwin **** for oil changes. This is a violation of my First Amendment right to freedom of speech by trying to censor my voice. Corwin Ford Tri-Cities is committing fraud and theft by refusing to render services that have been paid for. All of my grievances started shortly after I purchased my vehicle due to their lack of communication.

The refusal of service was based on the the way this customer interacts with our staff. As an employer it's our duty to protect our employees from customers who are not conducting themselves appropriately and are abusive to our employees. We have plenty customers who just given us bad reviews and we still do business with them.

I purchased a 2012 GMC ****** from this business in October 2021. A month after purchase the vehicle battery died and we had to get roadside assistance from our insurance. Another month passed and the battery died again. In March 2022 the vehicle's check engine light came on, I reached out to Corwin **** and spoke to our sales rep as well as someone in the service **** and a financial rep. **** were of any help and they all stated we needed to take it to a GMC service specialist, so we did. They diagnosed the vehicle and stated it needed both a new oil pan and engine. The warranty company only approved the oil pan. I paid 400$ out of pocket for this less than 6 months after acquiring the vehicle. We were unablet use pur vehicle for a a week and a half due to this. I rea hed out to Corwin again and was told they only pay 40$ for a rental car per day and we needed to pay the rest out of pocket, a vehicle we had for less than 6 months and they wanted us to pay even more out of pocket. I was told they would escalate the situation and someone would call me back. Now 2 months later no call back or follow up from anyone at corwin and the vehicle is back in the service **** at GMC. Corwin has given subpar customer service for a vehicle that supposedly had a full inspection before sale. They don't bother helping their customers after they get their money.

Unfortunately the nature of vehicles is that they work one day and breakdown the next day. Since the vehicle worked fine for 2 months its hard to tell the dealership sold a vehicle with known or apparent issues. We would be more than happy to reach out to the customer and guide them through the repair process.

On the 6th of March 2022 I purchased a vehicle from *********************, the manager was named ****, not only did he try and embarrass me for not having $1,000 down in front of my daughter but he also made other promises before the paperwork was signed that he would have the engine light the airbag put on the machine to figure out what the problem was, the next day all of a sudden a light comes on the dash that says check gauges, I noticed my oil pressure dropped down to zero no oil pressure whatsoever, now I was supposed to come back in Monday the next day to fix these things but I ended up replacing the burned out tail lights and had to ask for a temporary license to put in the back, I actually drove out of there without having it license not my fault, all I want is what he said he would do, there seems to be a lack of integrity in some of the used car business that needs to be addressed. And in closing I would like to say I am retired and with what they pay me on social security after all my bills and taking care of my daughter still in high school I have about $9 left a month how am I supposed to take and buy another key for $200, if I was to lose my only key I have I'm being held hostage by the auto industries and car lots for $200. Thank you for your time best wishes to all of you.

October 20th 2021 @ 09:15 hrs. Corwin Ford Tri Cities Washington 2013 ***************** We had an appointment for a oil change and a brake booster replacement under warranty. They had not ordered the booster and said they were not aware of that being part of the appointment that day. My husband agreed to have the oil changed and to have the complimentary 9 point inspection done nothing else.We received a notice for approval for the booster replacement $638.57 / oil change $34.95 / ptu intermediate axle seal, cover seal, axle nut, 3 qrt mercon 5 $585.95 and a Diagnostic inspection $154.89. All of which we only approved and agreed to the Oil change and complimentary inspection. NOTHING ELSE. They claimed that the booster was not under warranty and that the ptu.....needed replaced too. They also claim my engine siezed while at the dealership. I have NEVER had a single problem with my car until now. My husband did not ok anything else to be done to our vehicle. He went to pick up our car at the dealership the next day Oct 21 2021 and they would not release our vehicle without him paying for the diagnostic inspection and did not even change the oil while the had the car. I phoned and received a return call from the ** of their dealership and he said they would look into it and make things right and make sure that we are taken care of. He stated that he would call my husband on the next day (Friday October 22, 2021) and get things taken care of properly. He never called back. instead he received a message from ****** the service manager at the dealership. I returned her call and received no call back or response. I called again on Tuesday October 26 2021 and yet again no return call or response. I would like this issue resolved and our money refunded. And my car repaired. I believe my car was further damaged at their dealership causing issues that were not their when we dropped it off at the dealership.
