509 Renovations were unprofessional and scammed me of money. They took three months to complete a two day renovation project. They canceled multiple times because they were "too busy" and when I asked them to correct poor quality components of the job, they were defensive and aggressive to me and to my friend. Ultimately, they left my home like this (see pictures below) and took $8,000 in payment. This was my mistake to pay them in advance for unprofessional work after being treated so poorly. The job was left incomplete and my home a mess. As they left and locked up, they sent me an unprofessional and unkind message.

    Business Response

    To whom it may concern,

On behalf of 509 Renovations, I would like to respond to the customer complaint from 7/22/2024 ID #********.

I have reviewed this statement and disagree with the complaints made. I had been working with the customer to renovate their kitchen and agreed upon terms, I would work hourly and provide materials all to be compensated for at the end of each work day. Immediately after starting work I discovered structural hazards that were not disclosed, such as asbestos tile under the linoleum flooring causing delays and elongated work times. All delays were discussed with customer in length and all choices forward were agreed upon. The customer appeared happy with the work that was being done, the timeline, and changes that were being made. When scheduling the completion of the job the customer seemed to be having an issue within their personal life, seemed heavily distraught, and had to immediately leave town leaving me to finish the job in their home without them present. On the last day of work at this residence an unexpected and unannounced friend of the customer showed up, berated my unfinished work, and tried to intimidate me. I felt extremely uncomfortable and that this was a very unprofessional act for the customer to have arranged. At that point I was no longer comfortable being in this residence without the customer, nor was I comfortable continuing work for them. I immediately cleaned up my job site of my belongings, took a video of the job site, and messaged the customer that I would not be returning. I had been paid for materials used, and hourly up to that point NOT including that day of work. I communicated there was no need for any additional pay in the last message I sent the customer. I did not receive a response to my last message. I do not agree with the customers request for a refund, I was paid for the work that was done, and the job was not finished due to her actions.
