I hired movers to get me out of my condo as I had a strict time restriction before my buyer moved in. I was quoted $280 per hour for a 5 man team and two trucks. I was told it would take 8-9 hours (but it could take less or more because the person quoting this time has not seen my condo. He told mr by having 5 men and two trucks the job would be all done sooner.About a week prior to my move on April 26 I contacted the movers letting them know I did not think I would have everything packed. I am sixty years old and doing this all by myself, plus I work full time. I had started packing the moment I knew I would be movingat least 2 months. I had packed so many boxes I had yo put some in a storage unit just to make room for more in my condo. So it is not like I didnt try to pack everything. The moving company told me not to worry; they would bring boxes and packing material to get the job all done. When they arrived I was quoted it would be $290 an hour, not $280. The owner has decided to join the team making it a six man team, and would charge me an additional $40 an hour even though none of this has been approved by me in advance. Then after a few hours I was told they would not help because it was too much for one day and they had a big job the following day so it would make the work crew too tired. I was left with several days worth of packing to do all by myself. I also seem to be missing several items I know I had in my storage unitS

Estimate was done over the phone.  I offered to come over and do an on-site estimate which she refused.  I also ask if she needed help packing which she refused.  The original estimate was for 1 truck and 4men $220hr.  She told me she had alot more stuff and added another pick location so we decided to go with 5men and 2trucks $290hr.  I did check my emails and i did tell her we can do 5men and 2trucks for $280hr.  My mistake I forgot to lower your rates on the paper work.  The night before (not 2weeks ahead) the move we talked and she said she needed help packing.  I did say yes.  When we arrived we moved all her larger items and everything that was packed.  I told her we could not help her pack because it would take too long.  And we had a lot of work for 1day.  (The real reason is because her APT had animal liter, animal hair everywhere.  And it was really not okay for us to be in there let along picking stuff off the floor and boxing it.)  She was a hoarder with 5-7 pets she even jokingly admitted to us.  Thats okay but the place was unsanitary.

I also talked to her about me joining the crew the night before because I had a bad feeling about the move and I wanted to make sure things went okay.  She said okay.  We work by the hour so me coming to help for $40hr more does not cost her more as we got the job done faster and price would have balance out at the end.

As for the items missing.  I don't know where they are.  We loaded the truck and we emptied it except for the items we took back with us which she asked us to dispose off.

I did not charge her for the dump run or disposal fee.  Because I said I would help her pack and did not. Because it was unsanitary.

the job went *****hr so I owe her 10hr which is $107.  Im willing to double that for my mistake $214.
