I called APFM to inquire about how they operate, how they can assist as I was trying to gather info for a client who is early 50's (not a senior) who is wheelchair bound with MS and looking for a good fit to age in place. My representative **** assured me they really try to match clients w facilities on personalized basis. She would send me some initial info and circle back. Instead she turned over my office email, phone and name to at least 15 so far companies from *********, to **, ** and ** who call, email constantly asking about how my search is going. INSANE! They do not help place you. They put your name on file with as many facilities as possible in hopes they eventually earn a finders fee they do not deserve. A complete waste of my time and the hope that has been diminished in my client is criminal.

I am the *** for the mother and I was working with a local agency to place my mom into skilled care. My brother contacted A Place for Mom for additional ideas. I was already working with a local agency and did not have an agreement with APFM. They sent an email to my brother on a couple of facilities I had already seen with the local agency. APFM did not know anything about the recommendations they made and were not able to pronounce the names of the cities correctly. APFM kept calling continuously to see if I placed my mom. I finally told them we placed my mom through another agency, so they would stop calling! After the conversation, they sent an invoice to the facility claiming they owed them a referral fee. The facility already paid the local agency who initiated the referral. I called the rep. to dispute the invoice and she said she had nothing to do with the billing! I sent proof of the conversation with the local agency and asked them to please stop billing the facility on my behalf. They rep. said she didn't have anything to do with the billing and did not stop the bill from being continually sent. APFM is not owed a referral fee and as *** on behalf of my mom, I insist they cancel the invoice. I did not have an agreement with APFM and was already working with another agency.

No money has changes hands. Initial inquiry late 2022 in an effort to support my husband. The calls and emails from a variety of Assisted Living facilities started immediately, which I answered honestly. Unfortunately, our situation changed during 2023 and we no longer could use these types of accommodations, and I responded accordingly. However, the texts and emails kept coming, so I finally spoke with someone as this constituted as harassment. The texts and emails subsided for approximately 6 months....now they have started up again. It's unfortunate that this business and call center pray on families who are truly looking for support to line their own pockets. The Senior Living facilities do have their own sales and marketing departments, 'A place for Mom' is just eating into the facilities bottom line. Frustrating and annoying. I can just imagine what goes on in these call centers and how they get rewarded - telemarketing with a numbers game.

A Place for Mom preys on elderly people who are not internet savy. My mother was searching for assisted living facilties and unwittingly submitted her name to A Place fo Mom. They sent out referrals to all local facilities, so that if she ends up at one, they get the finders fee, and my mother was just looking for information!!!. We are working with a professional who specializes in finding residences for elderly people. She knows us, our family, and has a medical background. She has shared incredible resources with us, but because a Place for Mom is such a strong marketing company, she may not be able to continue to work with us because she won't get the finder fee. We've never spoken to anyone at a a Place for Mom. They know nothing about us. Their tactics are awful. I'm shocked this business is accredited by you. It's a shame.

A Place for Mom is STILL contacting my mother, *****, several times a week. This must stop!! They agreed to take our entire family off of their lists. ********,

We appreciate you reaching out to let us know that your mom received communications from the company. Since we added your family to our do not contact list by request, we were unable to respond to your latest email from A Place for Mom directly. I reached out to you from ***************************** earlier this week.

In our current system, we have no record that an email was sent to your mother at **********************************. Do you want to provide a sample to us through the BBB or to us at ****************************************** (we can receive/not send) so we can investigate if a system error caused this?

      Best,

I am shocked that you give this company a high rating on your website. They are insidious.

I was just looking for information on assisted care facilities. I entered my phone number and email on their online service, thinking I would just get a list of some options. I knew right away I had made a mistake when they immediately called my number. Now they call 4 times a day. I have entered my phone number on their online list to opt out of future calls but the calls have not stopped. I just want them to stop calling me.

I contacted A Place For Mom in October 2020 because our blended family was looking for information about what programs might be available, how to find pricing, and what options were out there, so that we could have discussions about the future of our ageing relative that has dementia. Once I had received the information, I provided what I could the the family. I received several calls asking if I was still needing assistance, I informed them that the decision was not mine to make, that I was only information gathering, and that the biological children of our family member would be working with the spouse to determine what was best. I have not heard from anyone since late 2021/ early 2022, until today when my step relative called me and told me that someone from this company had told her that I had already opened a file for her relative and was in the process of finding a facility for them. This information is blatantly false, and has caused a giant rift in our family, which has devastated and traumatized the children, and the spouse of the elderly relative . I contacted the company by phone, was given a verbal apology. This practice is dangerous and unacceptable. In an effort to repair the damage done to our family relationships, I want a letter of redaction and apology addressed to my step family members by name, and forwarded to me.

      ********,

We understand this is a very emotional time for all involved and that you were information gathering for the family a few years ago. We can confirm that you have not made any recent inquiries and are not actively in the process of finding senior care for your loved one. We would like to extend an apology to you and your family for any confusion or issues this has caused.

Please email us at ****************************************** if you have any questions or we can help further.
