I was referred for an *** and scheduled with Open Advanced *** for 09/29/2023. When I arrived, I was asked to pre-pay an amount of $379.30 for the procedure. Since I am claustrophobic, I was given a Xanax (or the generic equivalent) to help ease my fear. After taking the med, I waited in the lobby for about 15 minutes and then was taken back by the tech to the *** room. She had me lay down on the table and told me she would put me in the machine briefly and take me right back out so I could see what it would be like once the procedure started. After doing so, which took approximately 1 minute, I left the room and went back to the lobby because I was too panicked to continue. The tech advised me to wait about 15 more minutes to see if the medication would become more effective. I was not able to go back into the *** room again and decided to decline the procedure due to intense claustrophobia. Before leaving the clinic I asked for a refund and was told I had to wait for my insurance to be processed for a failed *** and then I would receive my refund. This never happened. My insurance company paid Open Advanced back in October. *** left at least 4 unreturned voicemail messages for the Open Advanced billing refunds department, yet the issue still has not been resolved. Ive left messages on 12/15/2023, 01/26/2024, 2/2/2024 and 2/16/24. I dont believe I should have to pay for a procedure that never occurred. I was given medication and was in the exam room with the tech no longer than 3 minutes. That does not add up to an *** cost of $379.30. My partner was with me the entire time and can attest to these facts. Also, the few times Ive actually spoken with anyone from Open Advanced (before Dec 2023) I was told conflicting stories about how and when my refund would be processed.
