My wife and I applied for a house on 4/28/23 and as of writing this we still have hear nothing back. We tried many times to call but the phone is never answered and messages arent returned. My grandfather lives next to the house we wanted to rent and Nancy was seen showing the house to other people after our application was taken but not communicating with **. Seems like an app fee trap.

    Business Response

    Date: 05/10/2023

To whom it may concern, Please see the response from our leasing agent.. Applicant(s) put in application Friday 4/30/3023 at 8:02 pm. Started processing application on next business day Monday 5/1/2023.

**** provided 2 addresses on application.
    1)Current from 8/2022 to current in *********
    2)Past from 5/2020 to 8/2022 **

ID provided on application has **************** address of *********************************************** issue date 9/8/2022. Sent rental reference for this address 5/1/2023 and have not heard back as of today.

The wife has a low credit score lower than minimum requirement on our rental criteria, but since his score was higher we do try to see if we would be able to work with them with possible deposit and positive rental history from address on his ID. Together both applicants have utility accounts in collections which are counted as a negative and a concern.

I talked to him on the phone and asked if he wanted to see the home and he said no he knows the homes around there. He has not seen the home.

I usually dont reach out to the applicant unless they either email or call the office to follow up on their application.

After 7 business days if we are unable to get rental references, I close out the account and send the Adverse letter.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a professional business, we do not like to collect the non-refundable application money. In fact, we go to great lengths and communicate via email prior to viewing the property the importance of reading our rental criteria and all while filling out applications its stated in multiple places again as a reminder.

Regarding,no calls returned, our leasing agent was sick and out of office 5/8/2023. Which was the only date we had a logged call leaving a message he was trying to reach our office. No emails were received from applicants following up with the applications whatsoever, as we can see all emails from remote locations at all times.

Our goal is to process applications in a timely manner. Being a small firm, we are out of the office in the field working with all other properties. We do continue to market, show, and continue to post yard signs until we have approved with deposit paid applicants. We are sorry, but unfortunately, we couldnt make it work out.

    Customer Answer

    Complaint: 20038890

I am rejecting this response because:

nobody ever reached out to me or my wife asking for additional information. If my uncle hadnt been next door I would never have been able to talk to her. When I did she had no idea I applied. I dont understand what she is proposing to make this right. Because if the lack of communication and wasting of my time, I have 15 days to find a place to rent when our house closes. Her response is trash and is inaccurate.

    Sincerely,
