We purchased a custom window replacement on 10/15/2024. The original install date was 12/3 but was rescheduled due to covid. I do greatly appreciate that he did not come while ill. The installation was then rescheduled eight (8) more times. Then our window was cracked in a car accident on 1/14.The installation was then scheduled four (4) more times. No one showed up to install my window any of these four times. There was no communication that they were not going to show.On Feb 4, I requested a refund due to all the rescheduling, lack of communication, and weather unpredictability. I was informed the check was in the mail. It never came. **** indicated that he would bring us a refund check on 2/18. He did not come that day. He proceeded to promise that he would come three (3) more times. Then, he indicated that he would just mail the ******** of 2/26, we still have not received a refund and **** is not responding to our texts.Business Response

On August 22 2024 we hired Home Guard Exteriors to paint our home. The contractors name is **** *******After multiple attempts to connect for the planned job, and $3,800 up front the job was never done. We asked for our money back. And **** ****** agreed, we were notified that the check would be mailed, it never came and we were told it wasnt delivered to our address. *** ex was supposed to deliver, but that didnt happen. Next Mr. ****** said he would hand deliver in cash the $3,800 after he returned from elk hunting. It didnt happen. I have e mails saying that our money would be returned thus ending the contract with Mr. ******* Now he is saying he is keeping the money and will paint our home in the Spring of 2025. After at least a half dozen times of waiting this summer for the painters to show up, no shows, we have no faith in this contractors ability to get the job done. I wish I had all the dates of contact but we kept thinking he would actually paint our home. This is where we stand now.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I informed **** on the phone that i was cancelling the contract, they had at least two months of good weather and several times we were told that they would get to it next week. we paid 3000 dollars up front and another 1000 dollars a couple of weeks later so they could get the paint which was never bought and we found this out after I cancelled the contract. they did not fulfill the contract, we were told time and again the refund check was to be delivered once by mail then fed-x and finally **** himself would place a check in my hand on Tuesday after he got back from a hunting trip. we didn't even get a phone call. there is no way this company is going to paint our house. We can't believe a word they say!
Sincerely,

Beginning in July 2024 Home Guard bid to replace 4 screens on our home. We were told the job would take about six weeks. At week six I asked for an update, and I was told delivery would be 8/16. However, they said they were waiting for one more item, and they would complete the job. I requested at that time they install what they had; but they didn't. Their communication was awful, and the ** avoided dealing with me directly and he told me to follow up with the installer. 9/27 the installer finally showed up, he didn't clean the tracks as stipulated in the contract. The installer spent at least 20 minutes trying to force a screen that didn't fit in the window. This company is inept, and refuses to return our deposit.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: **** from HGE just accused my husband of cussing out his *******, using the F-word numerous times. **** has never used the F-word his entire life. On top of failing to deliver a screen that fit; he has called ****** character into question. The installer spent 20 minutes trying to pry a screen in place that clearly didn't fit. We gave Home Guard Exteriors, ample time to provide good customer service; *** reported to have the majority of the screens six weeks ago, but they refused to install any of them until they received the 4th. We know our windows are unusual, they open from either side, and the screen has to cover the entire window. Despite being shown the example of our existing window screens, two small screens were ordered. Dissatisfied, we drove to the address provided, on all of our paperwork, to find a dog grooming business. I began calling, them immediately, but they refused to answer my calls. I called repeatedly in an attempt to get their correct address and a refund of our deposit. The ** doesn't want to take responsibility for his failures, and he refuses to give me a cost break-down for each screen. I am willing to take delivery of the existing screens, should they fit with a price for each individual screen. Despite agreeing verbally, we have not received that information. ***'s refusal to return our deposit has escalated due to their poor communication, an inaccurate address on all of their paperwork; and their failure to perform their duties in a timely manner.
Sincerely,
****** *******Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:This complaint remains unresolved.Home Guard Exteriors would only agree to settle with a quid pro quo;stipulating I must first remove all my on-line complaints before they would be willing to deliver what we paid for. I refused to rescind my complaints, and they have done nothing. We have done our best to resolve this issue, but Home Guard Exteriors refuses to take responsibility for their mistake. I have found the *** **** to be combative, horrible at communicating, and an overall bad businessman. He has left us hanging for four months and I wouldn't trust them to sweep my driveway.

We have been very disappointed in Home Guard. The siding looks nice, they never really finished the job! The barge rafters on both ends of the house were never painted, as promised, there are nails and siding chips (from old and new siding) all around the house, the chain link fence was never reattached. They were very unreliable about coming out (many times saying they would be out, but just not showing up -- no call!), it took months to get the job done! They were always prompt to show up when they were asking for a payment! We would not be able to recommend this company to anyone we know!Business Response
