Firstly, they threatened to not complete the job or remedy their malpractice unless I gave them positive reviews. They also threatened to pump my house full of asbestos when I complained. They charged me $1500 to replace the floors with "plywood" and I returned to find an insufficient amount of cheap OSB that they couldn't be bothered to cut or measure. This left pieces overlapping, sagging into the insulation and even cutting into *******************! I now need to hire a competent contractor to completely re-do the entire attic. Absolutely useless. I also asked if they could leave *a few* pieces of the old barnwood, and they took advantage of that as an excuse to bill me for removal of the old subfloor while removing absolutely nothing, even pieces of formica that had been used as flooring. They smugly stated that they believed them to be aesthetically pleasing in a mocking tone. Once they have my money they cut corners and became extremely rude and mocking towards me when I complained. They also called me to threaten me to try and make me remove bad reviews. Lazy with contempt for their customers. They need to refund me for the attic flooring and for disposal costs for the old subfloor they were contracted to remove but did not. I trusted them and they have taken me for a ride and treated me with utter contempt.Business response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
1) Their offer to fix or complete any aspect of the job was contingent on accepting an offer that would have me agreeing for them to charge $2980 for attic re-insulation and they would come, take all of the insulation material (by her own estimate, $1200 worth, though it seems they didn't actually put that much in the attic), refund me $1000 and leave me with no insulation. A $1980 charge for nothing at all. Worse, this would be defrauding the **** since the reimbursement is for the cost of re-insulating my (the claimant's) attic. Here, the *** would be paying them 55% of $1980 for materials that they will go on to re-sell and re-invoice the *** for. They skimmed off the top by short-changing me with materials, tried to cover up the fact that they didn't complete the job, and charged an absolute premium. A reasonable cost breakdown would have been about $2500 in materials and about $300 in labor. They appear to have installed about $700 of materials and charged over $2000 for a small amount of labor. That is an absurd rip-off. Furthermore, they promised to reinsulate the ceiling rafters on the phone and over email several times, hence they included "baffles" in their contract. Upon calling them to clarify, they confirmed that they meant they would insulate the rafter space. However, as this requires slightly more effort, they fell back on insulating the floor space instead.
2) The $1500 cost of the "subfloor" in the attic is separate from the *** claim (that is only asbestos and re-insulation) & was paid up-front. Please see the previously attached email. The work they conducted was negligent, dangerous, and incomplete. Again, they skimmed off the top with materials and charged a premium, as they did with the insulation (by her own admission, about $200 of cheap OSB sheathing that was not suitable for use as subfloor). They should have spent approximately $800 in materials and $700 in labor to do a good job in the attic.
3) Even their offer to finish cleaning up was contingent on me accepting their fraudulent "offer" with the insulation.
4) DJK staff were rude, condescending, and even threatening on the phone. That she feels entitled to rip people off, treat them with sheer disrespect, and still be treated with the utmost respect is, quite frankly, insane.
5) Her complaints about the outstanding amount are insane. Invoicing the *** is their standard business model that they proposed. Furthermore, through yet more of their negligence, they threw away the Zonolite bag jeopardizing the entire *** claim (even after I pleaded with them to keep it). This was a shocking act of negligence as they claimed to be **************** adept at handling the **** yet, through sheer negligence, failed to comply with the ***'s standard procedures. That she is now playing a "victim card" over the standard way their business operates is baffling. All of that is not to mention that of the amount pending the *** fund, only $1589.5 is for 55% of their claimed $2980 cost to re-insulate the attic, of which it appears they only installed approximately $700 worth of materials. That is to say, the insulation-specific balance she is complaining about is a hyper inflated premium for labor that they didn't even complete, not their actual costs.
Overall, it appears that they skimmed off the top and cut as many corners as possible while charging a premium in an attempt to effectively get paid twice for the same job. Their remediation "offer" was in bad faith and would have effectively been me subsidizing them to re-sell insulation that they would have made a fraudulent *** claim for.
Regards,
