I was just gouged by Summit Credit Union on a rollover CD. The CD was held to maturity, and I went in to withdraw the money about 16 days after maturity. I was told that I only had 10 days to withdraw the money or it rolled over into another CD. Okay, fine. But then I was told that the penalty was SIX MONTHS INTEREST, even though the new CD had only been in place for 2 weeks. In other words, they are going to hit my principal to pay an interest penalty on interest I have not even received. I further indicated that their "10 day window" was only 5 business days, since it matured on a weekend and Veteran's Day was a bank holiday. In other words, I had a very tiny window in which to act, or face a severe financial penalty. They said that the paperwork given to me when I originally opened the CD, and it's just too bad if I didn't read it or understand it. I have an MBA in Finance and served as CFO of a corporation in the past. A business practice such as this would have jumped off the page to me if it was explained. How about all the other customers who may not be as attuned to this? How about the other seniors like me who shouldn't have to know better? Maybe they are legally correct (I intend to report this usurious practice to WI consumer protection), but the practice is DECEPTIVE as well as unimaginable. On top of this, I have been a Summit customer since 1998. Is this the way they treat customers who have been doing business with them for 26 years? Yes. My advice is you take your business elsewhere and help drive these crooks into the ground.

3 starsBait and Switch mailer advertisement tactics. Beware! Summit sent out mailer stating 5.6% on the 13mo CD. Offer good through July 31, 2024. .50% more than their 13 mo CD special rate. That is the Bait.The Switch is, the gigantic bold print text stating 5.6% rate was evidently only for the day the flyer was printed! The special rate actually changes every day. This clarifying information is not clearly stated on the one page flyer.So you go in thinking 5.6%, then find out today the rate is 5.5%. Tomorrow it could be even less or more but in my banking experience, more likely, less. However, you are already in the bank, and the rate on this day, happens to be still better than other banks, so Summit is counting on you to give them your money to use for 13 mos, anyway! Their bait worked!Some people might see this as a win win for everyone. In this circumstance, on this day, perhaps it is a win win. For other people, a credit union business using the Bait and Switch tactic might diminishes the integrity of that business.Disappointing, but fact is, in my opinion, Summit Credit Union, is really no better or worse than any other Credit Union or Bank.Review fromBrian D

I would not recommend doing business with Summit Credit Union. Opened a CD which should be a safe investment. Not at Summit Credit Union. First the account was closed and there was a penalty for closing the account early. They admitted it was an IT error on there end. 6 months later it was closed again only 2 months before it came due. Again there was a penalty and lost of interest. Money was also missing from the account. Summit let someone use a CD account like a checking account. There is no security at Summit Bank and I believe the second case was a Summit Credit Union issue but they won't own up to it. Stay away from this bank.Summit Credit Union

Don't waste your time doing business with Summit Credit Union You all were dishonest and I don't believe anything any of you have to say. You're apologies are disgenious.I hope you are all treated disrespectful as I was. Just because I have stage 4 brain and bone cancer doesn't give Summit Credit Union the right to discriminate that I would stop paying HELOC and credit card. I am not deceased yet.Summit Credit Union

I recently went through the entire application process to obtain a consolidation loan to help me financially. The credit union was going to use my vehicle which was more than enough collateral for the loan and plus I work a full-time job and receive Social Security. I had gotten behind on my bills due to a cancer diagnosis the gentleman who took my application and talked to me through the whole thing made it seem very, sure that I was going to get the loan and then when it was sent to the underwriters who are never helpful? I was turned down very upsetting for being with a bank for 16 years. I will be canceling all my accounts this week because this is the third time that I have asked for help and they have not helped me and they had no reason to turn me down. I had more than enough collateral for them , even though my credit score was not the greatest. There was no reason for them to worry they weren’t going to get paid. They brag all the time on TV about how they help all their customers and the guy who I talk to said oh we all want to help our customers and make sure that they get what they need so they’re not suffering financially Well, none of that ended up happening and I’m tired of being treated like that after all these years, I am moving to another bank. I will never use SUMMIT CREDIT UNION again. They have caused me more financial trouble now that they aren’t helping me very unhappy customer …Summit Credit Union

They are horrible. They never follow through on claims. They always say they mailed letters, which magically never arrive, debit cards never arrived, I email in documents fir claims and they never get them. Always always denying on giving me a refund. 10% of the time the emails work. Most are returned as failed to deliver. It's so stressful getting our money back out of a claim, which has never happened!!! No matter what proof you send its not good enough or they say they never got it.Summit Credit Union

I have lost hundreds of dollars with these people over the years. They never follow up with disputes. They never ever get your money back from fraudulent transactions. Then they claim they sent letters, (which I never received) asking for information that I already sent the first time. When calling to follow up they say 'oh that claim expired because we didn't get the documents' which is bull cause I submitted everything the first time and verified they received it. There are two things Summit credit Union does well, they reject financial transactions and payments and assign overdraft fees inappropriately. I just found out today that Summit credit union is becoming antiquated in terms of phasing out their ACH/automatic payment for bills. how this company still exist is beyond measure. I just dont understand. I have had the absolute worst experience ever with Summit credit Union, and they continue to be unprofessional at every turn. I think it is a horrible decision to phase out the automatic billing/ACH option for banking. I really think you should reconsider this.Summit Credit Union

Summit credit Union Greenfield location is is shameful unprofessional and uncaring about their customer on Thursday July 6th 2023 around 11:50 a.m. I went to the drive-thru I was the only car there at the time I went to the first window there was a guy that I never seen I gave him $50 cash and a card with my account number on it I wanted to put $50 toward my credit card the guy never came back to the window the guy never spoke to me after about a couple of minutes waiting I looked over he was waiting on another car that had pulled up I waited he never came back over I pulled around front went inside of the building and as I walked in the building I hear him and see him laughing with older woman who usually waits on me laughing at the jokes he saying about me. So when ***** assistant manager vice president someone from summit contacting me with such a ridiculous response that insulted my intelligence Summit you should be ashamed of yourself I joined this credit Union because it has a woman as a CEO big mistake summit credit union doesn't take responsibility and summit doesn't care about me at all as a customer. To all the consumers out there please research on the credit union pick one that is very nice and cares about their customers. Summit credit union Greenfield locate employee laughed and talked about me a customer in face as the assistant vice president called it was two employees having a friendly conversation . To all the banks and the credit union that's in the Wisconsin area other than summit credit Union thank you for your professionalism towards your customers and employees and I hope that many consumer that is reading this review find a bank or credit Union that respects them. Summit credit Union shameful unprofessional such a disappointment. Summit please do not reach out to me cause what you're selling I'm not buying you are not real. Summit credit union doesn't support New School District employees, I applied for a Auto loan and had my signed by the School Board contract as proof of employment( would have easily had a full check before 1st payment was due) and they denied the loan, so no vehicle. made a payment from bank account over phone Sunday afternoon because I had bills to pay bills using my card Monday morning. It's nearly 9:00pm Monday eve. and still can;t pay bills because account has not been credited yet. Called customer service and got what I would consider very rude explanation about processing payments and how it could take up to 48hours to credit my account? Only took 2seconds for money to be taken out of my bank. I told her I could have walked to credit union and deposited payment by now. She asked me if I would like to do that.
