I brought my two large dogs for several days of boarding in August 2024. Vet/vaccination records were sent to the facility in advance. My dogs were accepted at drop-off. I later received a call from the facility that my dogs were not up to date on their Bordetella. The facility transported my dogs to a vet for the vaccine and charged me $100 for the transport. When I arrived to pick up my dogs, I asked to speak to the manager about the transport fee. The manager came out to the lobby and right away was very irritable. She informed me that one of my dogs had **** stuck to his **** and was biting at staff when they tried to clean him. I had no problem with this complaint about my dog's behavior and do not hold the staff responsible for not cleaning his ****. I asked the manager if she would waive the transport fee for the vaccine and she informed me that ensuring the vaccinations are current is ENTIRELY the dog owner's responsibility, not her staff's. She took no accountability for her staff accepting the dogs when the vaccinations were not current. Nowhere on their website or their Terms and Conditions does it say that the owner is responsible to ensure vaccinations are current, only that the dogs must be current on vaccinations. I took accountability for the Bordetella not being current and offered to split the charge 50/50, asking the manager to also take accountability for her staff's error. The manager refused. I asked the manager why she was being so irritable with me, and she went on to complain about other behaviors with my dogs. She said that my dogs are not welcome back. My complaint is solely with the manager's unprofessional attitude. If she could have calmly said she could not waive or reduce the transport fee, this would have been reasonable and understandable, and acceptable. I don't recommend Cedar Dale for boarding and will not bring my dogs back because of the manager's unprofessionalism.
