Having used HJ Pertzborn plumbing in the past, I was disappointed that they now refuse to work on my newly plumbed house because they weren’t the plumbers who did the work. We fired our previous plumber (that’s a different review) and needed help with installing a couple of sinks. I called Pertzborn and they said they would not accept any work at our house “in case the previous plumber did something wrong.” So, basically, city of Madison inspection means nothing and they don’t want to work on your house if they didn’t plumb it initially. Good to know. Ironically, HJ Pertzborn himself plumbed our house n the 1930s, they just weren’t hired initially for this job by our contractor. I also noticed they responded to a complaint on this site and “forgot” to remove the complainant’s name in places from the information they posted. Seems incredibly passive aggressive but consistent with the poor service I received.

We originally sent a licensed, Master plumber to estimate work at *****************. on October 13, 2020 for a contractor (***************.). We advised the contractor, via US Mail, that we would not be bidding on the work due to the scope of the work, the size of the project, complexity due to the homes age, no previous history of working with this contractor and the status of our own scheduling. We were contacted via email on March 19, 2021 by ******************************* stating they were in desperate need of a plumber as they fired our contractor for theft. We reassessed the project again and made a business decision to decline the work.******************************* called our office on August 30, 2021 and discussed needing multiple fixtures and miscellaneous drain piping installed on a project that was near completion but the plumber had left the project. ******************************* was speaking to a Service Coordinator not involved with the previous decision to decline work at this address but was familiar with the name of her previous contractor. The Service Coordinator set up a plumber to review the status of the project on the next day.The Service Plumbing Manager recognized the name and address of this project and made the decision to decline the work again. This decision was based on the history of the project as we knew as well as the implications, from a warranty/workmanship perspective, of completing someone elses work. Additionally, we were aware that subcontractors were not being paid during the course of this project. The Service Coordinator called ******************************* back and stated that we would have to decline working on the project and would be cancelling the appointment previously set due to the reason set forth above. We have provided plumbing services to the ************ since ****. Longevity of a company comes with making decisions that are not only for the best of the customer but for the best of the company.
