This contractor installed a furnace in my home . When removing the old furnace my basement stairs were damaged. I watch the repair man pull the furnace up the stairs and cause the damage. Cracks in the tile I immediately alerted the workmen on site and I phoned the office for the company . Within 30 min someone came out and inspected the damage. I was told *** the owner would get back to me. I have not received any further correspondence from this company. I would like them to repair the damages.

Used them for years but then some new got involved the bills skyrocket and almost every call was a big dollar so I stopped using them. So recently my newer management company PMI called them. When I seen the bills called to discuss since I have 38 properties. They blow me off and would not even go a bill because they knew I know what parts cost and time it takes to exchange the part. I then had to call another company 2 months after they fixed one of my furnaces and we discovered they did not do some of the work they billed me for. So I try reaching out again and asked Don to meet me over and the property and sent him picture but he just blew that off too. They would have had no way to explain why a bill is so much and the things they billed for that were not done. Clearly there low rating reflects there poor business practices. They said they cleaned the burners but they never took them out or cleaned them , there was dirt and cobb webs all over.

Abby's Heating & AC, LLC Response

Mr Burks complaint is not accurate. Abby's Heating did do work on his many properties a number of years ago. One property had an a/c that was well over 30 years old, needed to be completely dismantled to be cleaned and i advised him that it needed to be replaced. He paid no mind to my recommendations and after we sent him a bill for over $400 including freon he refused to pay it. So i quit doing work for him then. On 10/30/22 i was sent to his property by PMI a property management company that we have worked for around 10 years now. We are not the only contractor PMI uses but we charge less than any of the others per hour and we have the lowest markup on parts. Parts have gone up considerably since Covid. So this home had no heat, it was empty and quite trashed, the tenants had ruined the carpet, i think there was plaster damage on the walls and the whole place was filthy with old food still on the kitchen table. It looked like the tenant had placed a tray on the top of the furnace cabinet and was pouring water into it for some humidity. The furnace was rusty from top to bottom, i noted water damage inside the furnace. The circuit board is mounted near the top inside the cabinet and it was green and corroded from water damage. After a few minutes of diagnosis i left to pick up a circuit board at a wholesale house located about 10 miles away. I installed the new board, created a sheet metal cover and installed that above the circuit board to protect it from future water damage, took a brush to the inducer motor and the inlet of the burners to clean the dust and dirt off and cleaned the flame sensor. The burners had rust on them and the blower deck (Ie shelf) under the burners were very rusty. I was not there for a clean and check, this house needed heat and i did not have a lot of time as there were other no heat calls waiting. Mr Berg thinks i did no cleaning at all, and no i did nothing to remove the rust but it was not a priority, as for the cobb webs and dust that was in the furnace on 02/04/23 when a house is under construction a lot of dust and dirt is stirred up. Bear in mind the furnace had gone though some really cold days, two months worth with workers in the house so i don't doubt that there was dirt inside of it. A few weeks ago Mr Berg called Abbys and demanded to know what our markup is on parts. My wife who does not like him or his tone of voice refused to discuss this with him. I think the real reason he is making this complaint is that we immediately called PMI and asked them to please call a different contractor if it is one of his properties as we do not want to service his properties and did not know that we had been. His complaints that i would not discuss anything with him on that Saturday is correct because i was out to eat with my wife and did not want to upset her. In billing this repair i billed one hour at $80, no trip charge and no diagnostic fee and i actually spent one hour and 10 minutes on this repair, the part at $341 is not high for a circuit board, goodman circuit boards are often cheep but they do not last long and some boards are so expensive that i will contact the owner first before the repair in case they want to replace the furnace instead of making a $800 to $1200 dollar fix on a 20year old unit. We sell new furnaces installed starting around $2500 and most contractors in this area are selling furnaces for $4000 to $5000, some are asking $8000.
