I went in to purchase 2 female guinea pigs. I had the employee verify they were both female in front of me. I didn't know how to do it myself. I mistakenly put my trust in staff. They were 60 each. She guaranteed they were definitely female. A few days later I noticed their behavior wasn't like what I read about so I educated myself and discovered they are both male, and obviously so. I call the store and the manager said they would exchange them for females if they had any but since they have none I am stuck with them. So I'm told the whole large inventory is male only and this is a known fact yet I'm sold two and told they are female. Not only that but the employee told me a multi level ferret cage would work. I later discovered it's a terrible idea and I basically wasted $120 on that because I ended buying a much larger suitable cage for pretty much the same price. I want the public to know this store is terrible. There is absolutely no education on animals given to employees and no apologies given. Don't buy from this place if you require customer service. I honestly knew better buying from a pet store but I let instant gratification of making my child happy get the best of me. Never again.Initial Complaint

On 10/24/24 I purchased an anemone from PET WORLD WAREHOUSE OUTLET for $79.11. This marine organism, commonly integrated into reef aquarium ecosystems, was explicitly advertised as a "rainbow bubble color anemone," or Entacmaea quadricolor. However, upon meticulously acclimating the anemone to the optimal lighting and water flow conditions in my home aquarium a ***** contrast to the subpar environment provided by the store I discerned that the specimen was not, in fact, the ** quadricolor, but rather a magnificent anemone, a different species altogether. When I called them with this discrepancy, the response I received was not only unprofessional but also accusatory. They erroneously identified me as a previous complainant who had allegedly exploited the conditions of their anemones for a discount. Despite my firm denial and rationale, the conversation escalated, culminating in an initial offer for a return, which was subsequently rescinded following a prolonged and fruitless discussion, ending in the store denying me a refund and abruptly terminating the call.My dispute filed with Discover on 10/11 was unsuccessful. The decision, unfavorably biased by the store's return policy and misleading information on the receiptwhich falsely stated the purchase as a fish and included a fabricated advisory about compatibility with my existing fishresulted in Discover siding with PWO.Moreover, I was informed by a trusted associate at another fish store that PWO had engaged in further unethical behavior. They released personal information among to pet stores, with instructions to deny me service due to my charge dispute. This blatant invasion of privacy and character defamation, wherein I was labeled as a "White skinny boy with a Yorkie," is not only unprofessional but also legally questionable. This is a clear violation of consumer rights and ethical business conduct. PWO has deceptive advertising, poor customer service, violation of privacy, and defamatory actions..Initial Complaint

I bought a holland lop rabbit about 2 weeks ago and recently brought it to a pet visit. It has a messy bottom and does not want to eat hay. It seems to only want to eat pellets or sweet soft food. Eating hay is important for rabbits as it helps keep their teeth in good condition. The vet told me that Split Pea which is the name of the rabbit has bad teeth and would likely need trimming and filing of teeth every 3 or 4 months. Each visit cost around $200 or more. The vet also said the rabbit had a p**** and v***** They did not know if it had ovaries. I was told from Pet World it had a split p**** I wanted to have the rabbit neutered as that would prevent health issues. I was also faced with more cost having to do with possible ovaries. Pet World did not tell me the rabbit also had a v***** and possible ovaries. My wife and I have emotional attachments to the rabbit but surrendered the rabbit back to Pet World. I was not prepared for that kind of upkeep cost. If we had known prior of the health issues the rabbit had, I would not have made the purchase. I feel that the organization should have found out what health issues the rabbit had. A paperwork I got from Pet World states that the organization work with area vets to ensure the health of their animals before it goes home with customers whenever required. The employees at Pet World should have noticed the messy bottom and the rabbit not eating hay. The vet visit should have been made by Pet World. Notice "when required." A rabbit not eating hay mainly for it's diet is a cause of concern for that is their staple diet. If their diet is not mostly hay, it means something is wrong with the rabbit if the hay was provided. My wife was crying a lot because we surrendered the rabbit. However I could not see myself making that kind of financial commitment. I really should have been informed prior to making that purchase.Business Response

, thank you for reaching out. We apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Were so sorry you had to go through this experience. Had we known about the additional health issues we absolutely would have disclosed them. Due to the fact that the large majority of animals that come through Pet World are healthy, we do not take them to the vet prior to adopting them out, unless we have reason to believe they are sick. The breeder disclosed his inability to reproduce but did not lead us to believe there were any other health concerns. His inability to breed was not a concern for us as we dont breed rabbits here or encourage adopters too. While **** was with us we were not aware of any of his teeth issues. Unfortunately overgrown teeth are not an uncommon issue with rabbits.
You will be happy to hear that Appa found a loving new home that is able to care for his needs.
In circumstances like this, the store manager is consulted and would have been glad to refund you. He was on vacation when you brought Appa back to us, so we defaulted to store policy.
We will be able to refund you whenever youre able to come in.
Again, we are sorry for any stress or pain this situation has caused your family. Hopefully Dumpling is doing great.
