IJL Never completed the "smart coaching" deliverable.Business response

We are writing in response to the complaint made by ********************. ******************** became an Its Just Lunch (IJL) client and signed a non-refundable contract on 4/20/2023. His membership includes six (6) Date Introductions or six (6) Months, whichever comes last. A copy of his signed contract is attached.
Mr. ********* complaint centers around the coaching program included in his membership. The contract does not guarantee 5 sessions as Mr. ********* complaint reported. The coaching session includes up to a maximum of 5 sessions but it is up to the client to be proactive and schedule their coaching sessions directly with the dating coach. Please see the language specific to the coaching program from Mr. ********* contract,
Date Smart Coaching Program: 3 months with up to 5 sessions (whichever comes first) of personalized, one-on-one coaching to include: an initial in-depth consultation to determine priority areas of focus and relationship goals; guidance on how to apply theory into practice and follow up dating enhancement strategy. All sessions are done remotely (via tele conference) to ensure flexibility in scheduling. Program must be activated by Client within 3 months of Thursday, April 20, 2023 to avoid forfeiture of the sessions. Any rescheduling needs due to a conflict with Client's schedule are the responsibility of Client to initiate. Feedback Consultations: When reviewing feedback after your dates, your Date Coach may notice themes that create a roadblock to your success. Feedback consultations with your Date Coach may help address patterns you may not be aware of so that you may put your best foot forward. (Specific feedback from your dates is kept confidential at all times and will not be shared.) Date coaching is not medical, therapeutic, psychological or counseling advice and is intended for general information purposes only. IJL makes no representation or warranties in relation to such information.
As Mr. ********* contract explains, Clients are responsible for scheduling their coaching appointments. The contract also requires that the client initiate the coaching program within 3 months of their join date, which ******************** did not. ********************* failure to initiate his coaching sessions within the first three months, we made an exception and allowed him to schedule a session on 9/28/24. Our coach called him at the scheduled time and he didnt answer. When they connected later that day, ******************** reported he had confused the time because he was traveling in a different time zone. A second session was then rescheduled for 10/13/24. Despite having access to our date coaches calendar, ******************** did not schedule any additional sessions and he did not bring up coaching to his matchmakers until his membership was expiring. At that time, ******************** communicated he was disappointed he had not utilized the coaching portion of his membership. While we empathize with ********************, clients have to be proactive about the coaching program and are responsible for scheduling their sessions.
After his membership expired, ******************** sent an email on 6/7/24 threatening to file a BBB complaint and demanding a refund of $2000. We called him the same day and explained that membership fees are nonrefundable and his membership had been serviced appropriately. Despite this, we offered to schedule another coaching session for ********************. He accepted this offer and another session was confirmed for 6/11/24. Because ******************** was 15 minutes late to this session, his date coach did offer to connect the following day. We apologize that she missed this call, as it was not officially on her calendar. We wish ******************** had simply reached back out instead of filing a complaint, when we had already made an exception for ******************** to continue with the coaching program.
Mr. ********* complaint also references IJL setting up a second date for him- which we did, and he met for a second time on 5/10/24.
******************** membership included a minimum of six (6) Date Introductions, six (6) Months of active dating and six (6) months of hold time. The hold is used at the client's discretion. We do not place clients on hold unless they are not getting back to us. ******************** active membership time with us he had 9 date introductions, which is 3 over the minimum we contractually guarantee. His membership and contract have been fulfilled and is now expired. We are still willing to honor Mr. ********* remaining 2 coaching sessions if he schedules them within the next 90 days.Initial Complaint

Its Just Lunch is a scam. They charge you a huge inrush fee and make you so many promises and also charge a monthly fee of $100. I was told I would average tow dates a month, what a joke. My last date was September 111th, its now October 22nd. They punish you if you complain about the quality of dates and dont return calls or emails. I listed smoking as a deal breaker and they set me up with 2 different smokers. The quality of men they have is a joke and Im convinced that just set you up with anyone because none of the man has similar interest. *** tried complaining and told them they are not following the contract, but the simply dont care. I would like my money refund or at least be able to get out of this unfair contract. They are vultures and prey on people that are looking for love by arent able to deliver. Please help BBB! This company needs to restructure. I would like my contract stopped and to be no longer charged for this scam.Business response

We are writing in response to the complaint made by ****************************** ************** became an Its Just Lunch (IJL) client and signed a non-refundable contract with us on 6/23/2022. The membership is for month-to-month services with a guarantee of an average minimum of one introduction per month while membership is in active status and active monthly membership dues are being paid. A copy of her signed contract is attached.
Instead of paying her enrollment up front as most our clients do, Ms. Lusis chose to finance her enrollment through a third-party finance company. On 11/01/22, ************** contacted both her local matchmaker, ******, and the IJL Director of Financing, *******, saying she no longer wanted to use the service and she wanted her finance agreement with the third party company she financed her enrolment through to be cancelled. ******* explained to ************** that she agreed to the terms of the finance agreement and that those payments are due until the loan is paid in full just like any other financing agreement works. ************** then became extremely angry and aggressive; she has since used hostile and inappropriate language with our staff and made threats against us.
The contract ************** signed guarantees a minimum of one introduction, on average, per month. In less than 5 months, ************** has been on 8 dates and we are currently scheduling her 9th date this is clearly well over the minimum guarantee outlined in her membership agreement. ************** may cancel the monthly dues portion of her membership that she pays directly to IJL at any time, which would effectively expire her membership. However, the enrollment fee she chose to finance through a third party company is due until it is paid in full.
