Race and Disability Discrimination complaint. I entered Knickerbocker on the Lake today August 25, 2021 to visit my Tailor-Anna. I was approached by Larry R*** (I was told Mr R*** was the Director) about my Animal. My 4 pound Yorkshire terrier. I expressed to Mr R*** that my Animal was a Psychiatric Service Animal. I am a black woman with dreadlocks. Mr R*** looked me up and down and asked why did I need a Psychiatric Service Animal? I expressed to him that I don’t feel comfortable answering these questions because he’s a stranger. He’s also not a psychiatrist or psychologist. I’m only here to visit my Tailor really quickly. I showed him the documentation proving that the Animal was indeed a Psychiatric Service Animal.Mr R*** completely disregarded it. He expressed to me that if I can’t answer the question then I need to leave the building immediately. I was shocked, humiliated and embarrassed. Mr. R*** insulted me and demanded that I leave. Discrimination against people of color and people with disabilities should not be tolerated. I would like an apology from Mr R*** and to be allowed to enter Knickerbocker peacefully with my service animal.

**************,I am incredibly grateful that our lobby has auditory & visual surveillance and that a member of our ***** of ********* as well as other witnesses were present for our discussion, as your review is a blatant misrepresentation of the truth. The true summary of events, (as supported by ********************* is shared below:Upon entering the building at 1:00pm, you sat on a very comfortable bench in our beautiful, historic lobby. At approximately 1:01pm. I approached a group of eight individuals and said, "I am very sorry to say that we do not allow dogs on-site". I had no knowledge of the owner of the dog at the time - I was simply advising eight people that dogs are not permitted. You responded that you were unaware we did not allow dogs, then claimed the animal was a service animal. Following *** guidelines, I asked if the animal was required due to a disability and you responded, yes. I then asked what task or function the animal is trained to perform (per ***.gov). You responded, "Psychology". I advised that this was not a task or function of the animal and offered you the opportunity to respond with a task or function the animal was trained to perform. You were noticeably upset with my response and instead offered to provide documentation for the animal. Per ***.gov, businesses are not permitted to ask for documentation. I responded that I had no need to review the documentation and only needed an answer to: "What task or function is the animal trained to perform?". You responded that you were not comfortable answering the question. I advised that - per ***.gov - if the purpose of the animal is not inherently clear (such as a seeing-eye dog with a blind individual), the task or function must be answered or the individual with a dog may be asked to leave the property. You left the building and sat on the bench out front. After approximately thirty minutes, you returned to our front desk and asked for the specific law which provides businesses with the authority to ask for your private information such as your disability. I responded that I never once asked for information regarding your disability - as that would be inappropriate - and only asked if the animal was required because of a disability followed by what task or function the animal was trained to perform?.Per your request, I then printed the ***.gov help-document that aids businesses and customers regarding the rights each individual has. Following this, you refused to answer the question once more and left the property.I encourage you and anyone else who reads this review to visit the ***.gov Service Animal "help" documents to discourage situations like the one we faced earlier today. You should certainly feel comfortable traveling with your service animal and businesses should be permitted to ask for the very limited information they are advised to request without ********************

******** Robe your response to my review was filled with slander and falsehood. I am ****% sure that your camera will show and proof the evidence. What 8 women are you referring to? When I entered the premises alone with my Animal? He was on leash and attached to me the entire time. Psychology? You have continued to repeatedly insult and degrade me. I have endured tremendous disrespect and poor customer service from You ********* This could have been resolved with kindness and respect. If you look at all your poor ****** reviews I am not the only person that has ever mention racism. I am also not the only person you have made feel belittle and disrespected. I would not recommend anyone to visit Knickerbocker on the Lake especially if they own a Animal. Good *************
