June 10th, 2024 I took my vehicle in for service. Within 10 minutes the service manager told me that they crashed my car. Not only that, but this was the second time this particular employee crashed someones vehicle. I was given a rental car and told they would take care of the damages, and that it would take a week or so to complete. 2 weeks later they said they had to order more parts because there was more damage than they originally thought. About a week after that their insurance company called me to tell me my vehicle was totaled. The amount their insurance company paid my lender still left me with about a $4,000 balance, with still no vehicle from them. I told the ** I just wanted them to pay off my balance. Then they ghosted me for 2 months. Today is dec 9th, I just spoke with their new GM and they are refusing to pay off my balance and they only want to sell me a new car. This has been a terrible experience.

Body Shop Formen/Body Tech for Corvettes, had my corvette for a year and agreed to have it completed in Jun 2023, when Sep 15, 2023 arrived I went to the dealership and complained to him and the Body Shop manager, I was very upset that he had my car for year and the work in the Preliminary Estimates was not done, the bumper still missing off my car, very few parts installed and the majority of the paint work not done. So, because I complained the Body shop estimator called me on Sep 19, 2023 and cancelled all $9,434.23 of the custom work for my corvette, he told me their going to put my car together enough so it runs and they want me to come get it, and they're going to charge me money too, after keeping my car for a entire year. I told the Estimator I should haft to pay anything for keeping my car for year. He told me in a email I will haft to take my car home WITHOUT THE ************* INSTALLED. So, the Body shop Formen was suppose to hook up my head lights, put the bumper on and the hood on, when I went to pickup the car on Sep 25, 2023 one headlight is not working, so the Body shop Manager asked me to leave the car overnight & on Sep 26, 2023 the headlight will be fixed, I returned on Sep 26, 2023 & the Body shop manager told me the Body shop Formen was too busy to fix my headlight and I 've been waiting a year to get my car back, so I told the estimator I am taking my car home the way it is, very rude to make me wait even longer for my car. So I paid my bill & took my car home without the headlight working. I remember buying a 2006 corvette from this dealership from ************************* in Aug 2006, I've been a customer of this dealership when it was on ************* in **** ********* Chevrolet, 21 years of customer loyalty and they threw out the bldg. told me take my car and leave without having $9,434.23 in work done. And had to take my car home without a headlight working, a safety problem

********'s vehicle was in our possession for an extended period due to ongoing customer requests for additional work. Initially, ******** had brought his vehicle to our service department for some repairs. However, a disagreement with one of our technicians led him to decide to withdraw his vehicle from our service altogether.

Subsequently, **************** approached the Body Shop ******* to discuss the possibility of custom work. The ******* agreed, although with the caveat of a weight restriction due to previous hand surgeries resulting from a past accident. **************** accepted these terms and began supplying his own custom parts, including aftermarket headlights that required wiring and several chrome-plated components that needed sublet services.

Over time, **************** would periodically visit the body shop with additional requests, continuously expanding the scope of work and increasing the total cost to over $9,000 for the custom modifications. However, **************** grew concerned about the progress and questioned why the work was not completed.

In response, the Body Shop ******* explained the hand-related limitations and offered the option of assigning another technician under his supervision to complete the work. ******************** demeanor turned confrontational toward both the Body Shop ******* and the office staff.

After a discussion between both parties, it was mutually agreed upon that it would be best to reassemble the vehicle and have **************** seek specialized custom work elsewhere.

The Body Shop Estimator subsequently contacted **************** and informed him that we would reassemble the vehicle and charge for the work performed thus far. However, **************** expressed a desire not to pay for any of the services rendered.

The office staff explained to **************** that we cannot provide services for free and proposed two options: either paying for the work done so far, or taking the vehicle as is without the hood and bumper.

During this time, **************** visited the shop and removed boxes of previously supplied parts. Any missing items led to allegations of theft against the body shop. All parts were eventually located, and **************** was invoiced for the reassembly of his vehicle and the work completed up to that point.

Later, **************** returned to pay the agreed-upon amount but noticed that one of the aftermarket headlights was not functioning. We assured him that we would investigate the issue without any additional charges. He agreed to this and returned the next day, opting to take the vehicle as is, even with one of the headlights not working.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

When the initial agreement was signed in Aug 2021, ***** the Body shop ****** had no problems with his hands or surgeries to his hands, he let my car set with no working being done listed on the Aug 2021 repair estimate for 4 months or longer, this work agreement pre-dates any hand problems.  He worked on his friends ******* & and was working on C8 with body damage, all the while my car seat outside body shop with no work being done.  This is when the body shop manager asked me for the lights off my car so he could use them on his 2012 C6 Corvette he owned, I told him then in Aug 2021 the lights had to be hooked up right away to make sure they worked.  I asked him to tell me a price he wanted to pay for them, but he wouldn't do it, so finally one day ***** he told me he would do work on the car for the lights, said he would paint the rear defuser, install door hinges, install the new headlights, paint & install the sway bars, this work was left off the agreement in Aug 2021 because it was a side deal with the body shop ******, which lead to more work being added, along with some paint work added that wasn't updated on the agreement, until Jun 2023 estimate was updated, since he had not done any of the work or started on the car yet.  When the Jun ************************************************ the Body shop managers office with ****** along with ***** present, again no mention of hand problems, reaffirmed to me the initial agreement made in Sep 2022 the car would be ready and complete by early Jun 2023, after no work being done he changed it to end of Jun 2023, with no work still being done, I complained to him in a text message to his cell phone ************ on Aug 11, 2023@7:16am, he promised me the car would be 3/4 finished in this text message, I text his phone again on Sep 11, 2023@8:12am, to find out if he was 3/4 of the way finished, he told me he didn't do any work, so I said I am coming up their Friday to see what's not done.  This is when I became upset to see that no work was done, work that didn't have anything to do with his hand injuries, car parts that only way one pound, like finish wires to the new headlights, wires don't weigh 5lbs, he was suppose to finish the headlights in Aug 2021, when he took possession of the headlights off my car, fender latches don't way 5lbs, stainless steel polished parts with an adhesive backing don't weigh 5lbs, this excuse of hand problems is just a bunch of made up lies... When ****** called me & I spoke to ***** on phone text to come and sign a updated agreement in Jun 2023, I asked if work was done, and he said no because the agreement was not updated, but their already was an agreement from Aug 2021, with work he had not done, I said to myself this guy will never stop lying, so I went ahead with and sign the new agreement in Jun 2023, even though I knew he was lying about the work in the Aug 2021 agreement... he could of done that work, without an updated agreement, again no hand problems mentioned.  I have almost 18  months of text messages from ******* phone agreeing to do the added work and also giving me excuses of not doing the work other then his hand problem which didn't exist at that time.  I don't want to use these text messages unless I haft too. His phone number is ************... I gave him gift cards for $50.00 from Summit Racing this gift card was customized with ********************* Name on it, I have proof of the gift card purchase & I gave him $100 in gift cards to take his girlfriend to Texas ** Brazil at ************ in ********* and this how he treatments me.... theirs screws that weren't put back on my car from the front bumper installation, see picture..

I didn't agree to just having my car put back together I was told this is what was going to happen by ****** the body shop estimator, and I need to take my car to another shop to do what I wanted done, and I was going to haft to pay them too... I was told in the email pay or take my car home without bumper and hood on my car, this is not agreeing this is a threat not to put my car together.

And when it was discovered that the headlights were not working on Monday the day of pickup, ****** the Body shop manager asked me to leave the car for one more day and the lights will be fixed (Since Aug 2021 lights not working) So, I agreed to leave the car one more day after waiting an entire year, I had to still leave the car there again, when I returned on Tuesday at the dealership ****** the Body shop manager told me ***** the ****** didn't not even look at the car the whole day, once again ***** has neglected to do his job, dereliction of duty.... So, I didn't agree to take my car with the headlights not working, this was my only choice or chance of getting my car from this Body shop ****** with work unfinished.... Why would I again wait for him to do his job when ever he wants too, this was an insult not having my car headlights fixed so I can take my car home, this was no agreement, it was customer abuse... taking my car unfinished was the only option.

    Regards,

    *****************************

**************** brought his car in for a variety of custom work to be done and over the course of time it was here multiple items were added delaying the process. The General Manager  personally witnessed **************** bring in parts over the time his vehicle was here for work that was performed by both our Body Shop and Service Department .

We can confirm that ************** has had multiple surgeries on his hand over the last couple of years and has been on restriction.  Griffin Chevrolet  can't speak to any personal conversations or side agreements that were allegedly made. Also to our knowledge the former body shop manager didn't own a Corvette and wouldn't have needed the lights.

We're  sorry that we could not complete the work for **************** but after he accused us of stealing parts that were in a storage room (which we found) and demanded we pay, the decision was made to part ways.  Over the course of time **************** never reached out to the General Manager  with any complaints and frustrations. Sometimes a phone call and communication can solve most problems.  We were willing to fix the light while the car was here, but our General manager was told **************** didn't want to wait any longer and took his car

Again, we're sorry it didn't work out, but we are not a custom shop and the majority of the work we do is for insurance companies. We are unsure of ******************** objectives with his complaint, but we wish him the best.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear bel

I never became angry over the missing parts, I expressed disappointment that they could not locate the parts.  In this email message (attached) I referred to the parts as being missing, not stolen, nor did I ever use those words to any Griffin Employee.  And ***** did have a 2012 100th Anniversary C6 Corvette Black that he sold, he even told me about the Black Trans Am you were customizing & he showed me your Black Trans Am too.  The email attached to this message, from ****** to me specifically says ********************* will be returning the headlights to me.

I do not understand how leadership of a dealership could say things that are not true and are clearly documented in emails between I and the Body Shop Estimator... Someone is not being truthful to you and exaggerating my behavior on the day the parts were unable to be found by ******, ***** or ******, ***** told immediately told me the parts will be replaced or I would be reimbursed for them, so their is no reason for me to be angry over the missing parts, parts can be purchased again.  It's in the emails attached, I refer to the parts as missing, ****** says the headlights will be returned to me.  Why would ****** say the headlights are being returned if ***** never had them.... It's because he did have the headlights and he had the car the fit on too.

I was bullied into taking my car without the headlights working, why would ****** the body shop manager tell me to come back the next day and ***** will have the lights working, and then I return the next day, only to be told ***** didn't even look at the car all day... It's a clear message he's not going to work on the car, which is what caused this entire problem... ****** even told me that at the Monthly staff meetings she attended, that questions about my car being their too long came up in the meetings, and it was said that my car should get finished, this what ****** told me... And if ****** hand injuries where a problem why would he sign a new Dealership Repair Estimate with the Body Shop Manager Present in Jun 2023, which I already provided a copy of?
