      I was looking to quickly move to an apartment under Katz Properties. Im 19 years old and dont really know what Im doing. After touring their place, I asked for the application and they sent me the lease instead, which I didnt know until after Id signed it. Despite the apartment supposedly being mine, they refused to provide me with a key, or a copy of what I signed. I have called, emailed, and even texted them multiple times with zero response.

      My story what Katz properties started in 2019. At the time I was looking for a new apartment around ********* / downtown area and walked through few of their apartment at *********************. The office agent show a unit that I liked and told me " you will have the exact similar fully-renovated unit with washer and dryer on the 27th Fl in our building, however the unit vacant and not available for showing since it's going to be renovated". So I signed a contract agreement for 1 year according to these basis. One month later I was called by the agent who told me to come see the unit before moving, and as I walked in the Unit was NOT renovated / carpeted and there was no washer or drier as I was promised. We discussed how we can resolve the issue and after 2 weeks of negotiation he offed me a different Unit discounted higher price ( bigger 1 bedroom apartment ) and I refused, however he was threatening that I'm bound by law to fulfill my agreement and responsible for 12 months rent ! I finally was close to moving day and it wasn't practical for me to start my search again. So **** prosperity practiced clear legal fraud and threatened to *** me ! Story continue: Moving day 07/04/2021. I was moving using a Medium size **Haul that was parked on the side of the driveway in front the building, making sure there was enough space for a second lane of cars to pass smoothly. I went down after I was done moving to realize that my **haul truck was TOWED ! The **hual truck was held by private 3rd party company that has no clear info and way of communication. They ask me to bring cash 3 days later ! 7/4/2019 was following by long weekend so 4 days rent add to that 600$ towing fees. Beside the emotional distress they caused while I was moving. To say the least and after all what I mentioned. Management team were unapologetic , careless , and continue to practice bullying and abuse. To point that one of the manager admitted to that on Camera in the presence of two officers

      There are no studio apartments in the * building with washers and dryers so there is no way he would have been promised one with one.  Other than that, I do not know about any of the other bait and switch allegations he is making.

      As far as the **Haul is concerned.  He moved on July 3rd, 2019, not July 4th,2019.  This is a big difference because the 3rd of July is the busiest day/night downtown because of the fireworks.  I got called into work around 8:30 for a different matter and noticed the **Haul and tons of other cars in the driveway. At that point I called in the tow trucks to tow them all because we need to keep in front of the building clear in case of emergency vehicles.  I was on the property for two hours and never saw the tenant moving anything, so I had no idea who's it was or if the **Haul even belonged here.

      There has never been a dispute over who towed the **Haul he always knew it was me and I have always stated that it was me.  When he was moving out, I had to call the police on him because he was loitering in the office and making threats.  So, he has me admitting that I towed the **Haul on camera and the cops letting him know that I had ever right to have his **Haul towed since he was illegally parked on private property.

      I have a picture taking at 9:30 pm on July 3rd, 2019,showing his **Haul parked illegally.

      Better Business Bureau:

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

      Two main issues **** Property manager has brought up;

      1. There was a clear discrepancy between what has been discussed and promised during the initial showing and what I end up getting or signed a lease for ( I was shown a fully renovated stereo apartment in a different building and I was told I will get the exact same concept in the other building which has better view , I was also told that I will get appliances that I end up not having in my unit ).  This is clearly a misleading, unclear, dishonest and false advertisement.  This is unlawful activity against the consumer protection act.  The value of what I got was less than the money I paid ( evidence for my conversations and discussions are available upon request ).

      2. Negligent management of consumers:  There was no clear justification for towing a new tenants moving truck.  Residence of the building were keeping their cars overnight sometimes.  People moving from outside the state kept their trucks overnight.  This is not acceptable behavior when you run a big operation like this.  There was a clear negligence and miscommunication among the team that run the building.  If The manager wasn't aware of anyone moving he could've simply made 1 phone call not to the towing company but to the building agent and ask a simple question " if anyone is moving in or out the building on that date " and he could simply get that person contact information and asked them to move the truck out of the way.  However, he decided to make that 1 phone call to his contracting towing company.  This is negligence, and reluctance and probably fraudulent

      The business committed to provide a dishwasher in the advertisement. I don't have one but I have visited a number of other apartments in the building and they all do. I have asked a number of times to have one installed and they ignore my requests. They don't even respond. If the dishwasher cannot be installed I would appreciate a better rate on my apartment, since I am not getting what was advertised. Also the Apartment has been without heat since May 27 when we had a very cold weekend. They were supposed to have it fixed before that weekend. The heat is still not working on October 16. By now if the Boiler needed to be replaced it should have happened. I understand required maintenance happens all the time but not resolving the issue before the cold weather is upon us after 5 months of knowing the problem is there is not good business practices. We tenants should not have to deal with this at this time.

      We do have a lot of apartments throughout the building that we are updating the kitchens and installing dishwasher, you do not have an updated unit.  Your rent does reflect a non-renovated unit without a dishwasher.  We have already reached out to get pictures of the kitchen sent out to see if it is possible to install a dishwasher....unfortunately there are no guarantees based on the layout of your unit.
