My car ran out of fuel and left me stranded on the side of the road near Plaza Service Center on April 7, 2023. I towed it to the shop and called Monday morning. I left a message and didn’t hear back by Wednesday, so I called again. I spoke to someone at the shop, and she informed me of the mechanic’s diagnostic, I declined the work and picked up my car the next day. I towed the car to the mechanic that worked on the car for 10 years with the previous owner, he informed me that the rear differential was missing and there were numerous signs of unnecessary damage to the underside and gas tank areas of the car. I contacted the shop multiple times (April 22, 24, & 25) to try and retrieve the missing parts and discuss the unauthorized work performed on my car but never received a return call. On Friday April 28, 2023, my mechanic and I went to the shop and was told at that time there was no one who could explain what happened. Two other mechanics at the shop looked around for the parts but had no luck. They also informed me that the mechanic who diagnosed my car was fired recently. When they couldn’t find any record of the invoice, I paid in their system I had them make a copy of mine. The owner arrived and came over to discuss my issues, told me he would find out what was going on and would take care of these issues immediately. I called the shop on May 1, in hopes of resolving my issues and again was told there was no one there I could speak with. As of today May 9, there has been no return call. I am asking to be reimbursed for the work done to my car by Plaza Service Center ($109.18) and the second mechanic’s work ($300). The cost of the missing parts: drive shaft ($1580.58) and drive shaft seal ($35.38) plus the 10 hours of labor included in the shop’s own estimate. And my lost wages due to the car being in the shop April 12 through May 1st ($1800). Adding in supplies and sales tax of $1000 and the purchase price of another vehicle ($3500). Total of $9,925.14.
