Hired to do various jobs. Pointed out some things that needed more attention while here. Had to call back to redo stairs because had 38 inch width on stairs, they shortened width to 30. They came back with attitude & did not do a nice job. When asked to come back, reply was we will not be back. They did a very unprofessional job. Thank you for your time & any help. If business would be willing to refund back $800.00, we will take care of issues ourselves. Coming back rude & mad at us the customer was not professional & then to do unclean redo, real wrong!

****, you were rude to us the entire time we were there. You did not want the steps redone to be made wider, you were told that the bottom posts would not be as strong doing them the way they are now. You watched out of the door the whole time we were there to address issues, and said you were happy with everything when we finished. The reason the post at the top left side is a little wider, not an inch wider but 1/2 an inch is because of the deck board. We knew you would not liked to have a small sliver of deck board on the left side of the post so we moved the post slightly. As far as the small gaps go in a few of the joints, treated lumber shrinks. Nothing to be done about that. We replaced several boards just because you didn’t like the knots in them at no cost, it is pine lumber so of course it has knots in it. We did everything we could to make you all happy.  I will discuss reimbursing some money but it will not be $800 because it is not worth near that. You all have been through several contractors and I see now why.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I just received this email.. we completely disagree with whichever one wrote the response.. tried to help them out with leaving the stairs.. concrete was bought on my account & was used NO WHERE..

As for the lumber, we originally asked about trex decking & was told rep had never got back to Dave, so we said let's do wood..was never asked what grade or type of lumber we wanted or spindles. Hind sight should have sent lumber back. But didnt.

We were not rude. Treated all with respect..then to have you all show up & be upset because you were called out on few things & to do a botched job then was WRONG. And to get say done, not coming back..completely wrong. You all were paid cash to complete a job..well, it wasn't completed.

We never would have treated a customer this way or done botched work. We were in the business many years..

Were not given a receipt from things we purchased for job..see why now...didn't use on this job. Didn't leave extra material you should have, just the junk pieces.
    $800 is cheap..4500 for what we got...shameful.

Reason post on side didn't hold was no concrete was used. Charged for it..

No use in keep repeating what we have already said..

    This company is shameful.
As for other contractors, yes we have had others.. and you all commented on bad work..and what work did we get this time. Cmon guys, you know work was not right. And taking materials, we paid for to probably benefit other jobs...would you be happy with that?

The concrete was used on the other set of stairs. No materials were taken. Everything left over was left in a pile where you wanted it left at and was all removed before we came back. Treated lumber is treated lumber, we can only use what lumber is available. **** was rude several times. I can’t speak of what conversations you had with Dave when you all looked at the job and discussed everything because I wasn’t there, I was there when you said the spindles were fine. Been in the business several years too and you are the first complaint. Where do you come up with $800? Because you say there are a couple of gaps in the top cap of the handrail and the one stair rail is less than an inch out for reasons I already mentioned?

    Materials in question are:
Plastic, leftover spindles, shingles, taping mud, concrete.
Stairs that they didn't have to do, shouldnt there have been adjustment in price?
If customer was rude, why was job taken?
If customer was extra watchful, why would there be issues now? When some adjustments were mentioned, they definitely got upset & poor workmanship really showed then.
Saying that 1 person wasn't involved in initial job review was not fault of customer. Contractors should have made each other aware.
Very saddened by how this job was handled. They saw poor quality of work in prior job that was done & said it was poor..
    Paid $4500 cash..

Really reaching now, nothing was stolen. Y’all know that, any used material like drywall mud and plastic and leftover spindles etc.. went to the landfill with the rest of the debris.

[Materials we paid for. At least should have been asked. Plastic was never used. Concrete was not used. Any unused spindles could have been returned & got some money back. Not reaching for anything, just facts. This job turned out completely unprofessional. If we were so rude, why did you take job?]
