Purchased a used 2019 Polaris Rzr 1000xp Highlifter with 3,9XX miles on it at the end of last year (September 2023) for just shy of $17,000 (via loan through ****** bank), at the time I was able to do a minimal test drive around their tiny lot, after parking the machine for a few minutes to consider paperwork, the machine would not start, the battery was dead, the dealer did correct this issue; I have had the machine and put less than 300 miles on it and now have it at a qualified mechanic shop (this is my second trip to a shop) and the mechanic is telling me he has seen this machine before and before it was sold the previous owner was informed that the transmission needed rebuilt, the wiring for the lighting system is burnt up, and the steering rack needs replaced; the mechanic is going to thoroughly inspect the machine for further issues and give me the breakdown and cost of repairs; the issue is that this machine was obviously not well inspected and is in fact dangerous in relation to the damage that it has, there have been instances where it has broke loose going downhill as a part of these issues, thankfully there hasn't been any accident or injury and this is why I took it to a reliable mechanic. I don't want people buying dangerously faulty machines or vehicles, nor ending up with a substancial bill as I'm about to do (my estimate for the listed issues is currently at around $3000 and the machine hasn't been completely checked). There was also an issue while buying the machine where I was required to obtain an auto insurance policy for said machine, and was supposed to receive a license plate, however the paperwork was incorrectly filed and it was never received, I did push for a refund for the plate/registration and received it, however I also paid over $200 to start an insurance policy for this machine that I really don't need as it isn't cleared for road use at this point.

    Business response

I received a ******** message from ***** ***** on July 11, 2024 stating that she was having issues with the 2019 Polaris RZR.  I responded to her with the reply below:

"*****, this is the first I am hearing of the issue with the RZR. No one wants you to have any issues. I have a really good reputation and really do not understand while you just didn't call and discuss your issue. Give me a call and we can see what the issue is. I realize you are upset and I promise no one intentionally sold you anything unsafe or faulty. My number is ************. Thanks Mark"

I did not hear back from her since this time.  I am not unreasonable and did not intentionally sell her anything that was faulty.  I will be happy to pay 50 percent of any repairs that it needs through my shop that is unsafe or deems the machine inoperable.  She has owned the unit for nearly 11 months and this is the first I am hearing of the issues. It is a requirement for her to carry insurance on the unit due to the lien that is on it, not just because it is road legal.  I feel this is more than fair.  It would have been much easier for her to just contact me direct to work out her issues. I will be more than willing to speak with her if she would like.  Also, she didn't have to push me for a refund.  I gladly refunded it to her as soon as I found the issue.  Here is the messenger response to the licensing:

"*****, here is where the title work was completed by DMV. Unfortunately, I must have made a mistake and did not order a plate for the Polaris. I will refund the 16.00 to you for the plate. You can go to the DMV and pick up a plate. Your title and registration is all good. I will mail you a check today. I am very sorry for the mix up."

I have a very good reputation in the Auto and Motorsport business.  I will be happy to answer any questions to help resolve this issue

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Please note I am not trying to be difficult, my reasoning for this response being that this dealership sold a UTV that was supposed to be looked over by a mechanic prior to sale, either the mechanic is incompetent or negligent, for this reason I would not choose to have any type of dealing, especially not mechanical (or other) work done on this machine by anyone other than a trusted certified mechanic. I can provide contact information for my mechanic who can verify the issues he had seen prior to my purchase. I can also provide odometer readings from the last “11 months” showing that this vehicle doesn’t even have 100 miles on it from purchase, as explained there have been a series of events preventing use up until now (winter weather and knee injury/surgery), and some of these issues are also things that have to be diagnosed by a mechanic. I will also find my copy of the initial mechanic visit that stated a few of the surface problems the mechanic found within a month of purchase (other issues required full service and evaluation).

    Regards,
