I’ve had a membership to this location twice now. Once when it opened and now. Over 12 years apart. This is a franchise location where the owners have just raked in money for over a decade and not invested it back into the facility. The equipment has been there from the beginning. It still has the equipment that was designed to work with the iPhone 4 that has a 30 pin connection, not the lightning port that we have become accustomed to. The equipment works, I get it it. What doesn’t work is most of the remotes that have have tried to rig up to the old equipment. Half the time the remotes or the sensors attached to the tv have fallen off. The other times, it just doesn’t work right. The part about this location that really makes me mad is the so called “Black Card” equipment. The tanning beds are also the original equipment and are always breaking down. The button are all cracked and sometimes don’t work, the top layer of plastic that you actually lay on has so many spider cracks that I know the light doesn’t travel through it to my skin at full efficiency. When the machines do work, the room overheats. They have had to put cheap looking thermometers in each room to make sure it doesn’t go over 100 degrees before the next person. Even the massage beds don’t work all the time. Today, only 2 tanning beds were working plus the red light booth. Even the red light has 7 bulbs burnt out but they don’t seem to care. I even got a email a few days ago saying they are closing the hair salon too. What is the point of paying an extra $15 a month if the owners are not willing to invest money back into their business. Call Planet Fitness corporate office and register a complaint. It was difficult to find until I asked an AI engine to find the number. I can’t post it here but it starts with *** and ends in ****

The gym portion is great, but the customer service and membership side of things is straight-up predatory. When signing up for a membership, you are instructed to download an app where you follow a 10-minute sign up process that at some point moves from your phone to an associates' Ipad. On said Ipad, you proceed to spend another 5 minutes signing forms and unchecking the "send me promotional emails" box, which I then watched the associate re-check back on and hit accept, after filling in her own name in the referral box. I will point out that I had never met this person before. Then, after advertising a ten dollars a month, you are charged a $60.00 sign-up fee and three months later, another $40.00 annual fee, both on top of your regular $10.00/month charges. Next, when I was getting ready to move, and wanted to cancel my membership, not only is there no option to cancel online, there is no information on their website about how to do so at all. Not in the questions and answers, not in the help tab, nothing. They have purged all use of the word "Cancel" from their website. I then called the number and spoke to another associate, saying that I would like to cancel my subscription as I was moving. I was told that they could not cancel on the phone for "Security Reasons". I would like to know what said "security reasons" are, because nothing in those forms was confidential information, except my email address which they sell to advertisers anyways. I was given two options: come in and sign a cancellation form, which requires me to drive across town just to do so (luckily I did this before moving, because it would have been a 14 hour drive otherwise) or send in a cancellation request letter, allowing plenty of processing time for me to be charged another month or two in the interim. The process is so predatory and cumbersome, it has to be intentional. Go to the YMCA or the Health & Wellness Center instead, save yourself the nightmare.
