1 star************ Insurance From AARP is the biggest ripoff to Seniors in *******! And that is going some in today's criminal world! Talk about a PONZU SCHEME! They say in their brochures that the plans cover "dentures" but in reality, they DEMAND that you pay them for a WHOLE YEAR before they will cover what they say they cover in the brochures! A complete RIPOFF!!!****************************Review fromJ. S

The last thing on their mind is seniors. It is a lucrative business and with their non-profit status they give the impression of providing best values to seniors. Everything they offer is far more expensive than what one can get from other resources, insurance, travels, ****** not respect or trust them at all.AARP

1 starVery disappointed with AARP regarding the purchase of gift cards from the site. I thought it was a reputable organization. Purchase 2/6/2025, never received the gift cards, but credit card was charged. Have contacted AARP repeatedly--voice, text, chat, with no resolution to date 2/17, 3/3, 3/7, 3/12/2025, and each time, start from scratch. Only the idle assurance that it has been "escalated" and no followup.Review fromPHYLLIS E

It is truly a shame that the VOLUNTEERS in ******* are not compensated for what they do.These volunteers come to the *************** on their own "dime" and precious time. I hate doing my taxes. These volunteers could have been walking in the park instead of helping me with "UNCLE ***".I want to send out my heartfelt thanks to those who choose selfless work to help those in need.Thank you for what you do!AARP

Predatory, you can sign up very easily online. But if you want to cancel you have to chat with someone or call in so they can try to upsell you or convince you to stay. Considering they service a lot of seniors, this is very predatory and a lot of seniors likely do not cancel because it's a hassle. Too much spam emails, mailing, and not enough services worth it.AARP

Dear Ms. ************* sorry to hear that we haven't earned your continued support. AARP does provide members the ability to control their communications preferences. Additionally, I reviewed the chat transcript from February 28 and it appears that from the time the agent identified your membership to the time it was cancelled was about 90 seconds. Once again, we are sorry to see you go.Sincerely,***** *************Review fromSteven B

I finally received the product I payed for, and I am glad to have finally received them. I would add that my experience with AARP has been FULL of frustration all through the process, and It also resulted in a loss of money to my family in making my vacation reservation. If I had received my ****** gift cards when I placed the order (or even a day or 3 later) I would have been able to reserve my family's vacation spot with a savings of almost $250 and then would have benefited from the discounted price I paid for the gift cards (a total of $100 in additional savings) from AARP's rewards portal offer as well. Because of the delay, Not only did I NOT get the $250 discount from the rental, but had to pay $200 more than the price we were planning on. That's a pretty big swing from $350 in savings to $200 in extra cost (-$550). I heard multiple times from various representatives that AARP was "so grateful for my continued membership", but let me say that because no one reached out to me (after I contacted AARP at least 6 times) or was empowered to help me for 10 business days (almost 2 weeks of time) I felt ignored and taken advantage of. The company proved that they don't really care about me as a customer. They were fully willing to take my money (almost $2000) immediately, but did not feel the need to provide me with my purchase (a simple electronic one at that) with the same expediency. I don't believe AARP is looking out for me, and I can't imagine retaining my membership after it expires next year. I also know that this complaint will probably vanish into "cyber oblivion", but I thought I'd at least express my concerns on the infinitesimal chance that I could spare some other customer the frustration and potential loss I experienced. I am posting here to warn people against purchasing from the AARP rewards portal, but I am dubious about the possibility of prompting change in such a large company.AARP

The very next and EVERY DAY since that call I have recieved at the least 5 to 6 spam calls a day in referance to medicare coverage. Ive had my celluar service several years and never has this happened until I called AARP. They are obviously selling contact information. I'm a disabled veteran and these calls are affecting my PTSD. I'm goin to be forced to change my contact number where all of my medical providers reach me which will be a enormous inconvenious to say the least. It's 1150AM I have already received 4 calls this morning.AARP

I have been getting mailing offers to join AARP for at least 10 years now, I have received yet another letter from AARP $20.00 for one yr. Up to 5 yrs for $79.00 .I've never taken the opportunity to join this AARP, but have thought about it every time I get a letter from them. Now I am 62 yrs old and my eye's are in a bad way, I am in need of eye surgery because of cataracts, the eye doctor said that I should have it done and the sooner the better. But I've no insurance to help pay for this so I considered joining the AARP in hopes that they would be the best option for my problem. I want to say " THANK YOU BETTER BUISSINESS BUREAU " because after reading the complaints from the people who are, was, members with the AARP and their affiliates, have helped me with this decision. Therefore I also would like to thank the people who have wrote in their experiences they had to the BBB. I shall continue to search for another source for some help. I am really upset about the deceptive AARP promo with Consumer Cellular! You advertise 2 lines for $55... BUT fail to mention that price does NOT include taxes and other fees.. AND that data usage is SHARED by the 2 phones, so the actual bill is $68/month w/out full data usage. For an organization that is supposed to HELP seniors with lower costs services, CC is a total bait and switch LIE... I suggest you start being HONEST with your members in ALL advertising and promotions. There is really no reason at all to be a member of AARP when you cannot be trusted to be HONEST with your offers to your members!AARP

Hi ***** **********,
Thank you for contacting BBB regarding your concern with the AARP promo with Consumer Cellular. You had contacted AARP previously regarding this issue and the case was forwarded to Consumer Cellular for a review. As I stated in our previous conversation, Consumer Cellular advised that they offer a special rate plan for $55-for-two to customers who are ********************** members. The plan is $55 a month plus tax for two lines of service with unlimited talk, text, and date.
Consumer Cellular confirmed that they spoke with you on 11/22/24 and explained that their invoice total consist of $55 for monthly charges, as well as any standard taxes and surcharges. Information regarding this plan can be found at *********************************************************.
Consumer Cellular also mentioned that all taxes and fees are clearly outlined on Consumer Cellular's monthly invoices, most of which are mandated by federal, state, county, or municipal governing bodies.
We apologize again for any inconvenience. Should you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at **************. Thank you for your valued membership with AARP.
