I manage an apartment building and had been locked into a 5 year contract with Waste Connections of Canada. Prior to my contract expiring in January I did not receive a renewal notice or new proposal as is common practice with my other service providers such as elevator maintenance and landscape etc. I contacted Waste Connections to negotiate a new contract. After several emails, my contract has now been reduced. However, I still obtained a quote from another waste management company, which is 1/5 of my current rate. I figured out that I overpaid in excess of $75K over the past 5 years when compared to this new offer from another company. Even with their current offer, I would still be paying approximately $12K more per YEAR compared to the other company. I immediately contacted Waste Management and requested not to renew my contract only to be advised that my contract had been automatically renewed for another 5 years. I am currently in negotiations on a mutually agreeable penalty to get out of this unfair and terrible contract. The company is seeking payment for 9 months, while I am offering 3 months...these negotiations have been going on for almost 2 weeks and getting a response from them is extremely difficult.I am passing this information onto other business owners that have a contract or looking to sign a contract with Waste Management Connections of Canada. Read the fine print and shop around. The discrepancy in their pricing compared to the other waste management company is outrageous and I believe that there should be an industry standard in place when it comes to pricing.

They try to charge more and more to clients without any reasons or notices. They always notice For the first time, we need to work with them more than 6 months to get back the overpaid. They over charge but always notice to us that will not pickup or suspension account etc. even during the time that their another team confirmed that they invoice wrong price. You will not believe that they over charge 50% and ignore to our request for correcting invoice. We asked them more than 10 times. It is confirmed by District Sales Manager for wrong price and asked team for correction the invoice but they did not. Keep asking for payment when they do not send the corrected invoices. I don't know how and what kinds of customer ******************** in their ********* warning to any new company. You will waste your money, time and a lot of paint when you due with whole crazy team from pickup to accountant and customer ********************.

I want to cancel my contract but Vancouver customer service department never pick up the phone. They unbelievable increase fee every year without any inform. I feel like scam.It automatically hang up the phone or goes to voice message. Where should I send a letter? there is no email address to send. I don't want to deal with my accout manage with this matter because he is not helpful at all.Why contract will be automatically extend? Any renewal extending beyond 2 years requires explicit consent and a signed agreement rhather than just being subject to automatic renewal.I still have more than 60days until to finish 5 years contract. Please reply me to proceed to terminate the contract. If this termination contract process is not going smoothly, then I will call ********* to remove bins and take a legal action as well.

Their garbage bin rolled over and damaged my vehicle. It was not chained and brakes seemed not to have been on. When I reported it initially a representative responded right away asking for pictures etc. then I got no reply. I followed up after a week, still no reply. 3 weeks after I followed up again and mentioned that I would give them a call if they wouldn't respond, then a different representative emailed back asking for video footage so I told him to contact the manager of the building which uses their garbage services. I know for a fact that this building has the camera that can capture this particular angle. He then kept saying that their driver did not serve right before my car was damaged so they would take no responsibility and that the bin could have been moved by a stranger for fun. I told him to prove that they were not responsible in any way, by checking the footage and giving me a screenshot which could be easily done. To this date I have not heard back. If their personal car was the one that was hit and damaged by some commercial garbage bin just like this, would they be satisfied by the poor explanations given to me???

The company obviously has some issues. My primary complaints are rate increases (32% this year) without any explanation and the lack of response to enquiries. This years rates iitially went up by 25% over the previous year and then we were billed another 12% increase from July 2023. We were told that was a mistake by the company and we did not have to pay the additional costs.I did try to connect with the company but to no avail. Now I receive a communication that if I do not pay the additional costs this year, there will be added interest!! I am expected to respond to them, but they do not value us as customers enough to respond to our concerns and communications. Unfortunately, I live in a strata and the arrangment with this company appears to be inclusive of all.

I would give them zero stars if that were possible. They are horrible to deal with, miss collections regularly, add extra fees for no reason. Our strata recently switched over to a new garbage collection company. It's so nice to not have to discuss the crappy service and onerous contract terms of Waste Connections. This company should not be allowed to operate. They are highly unethical.

Weve been doing business with the same company for over 7 years. We renewed our contract in March 2022 with the fee specified at. $250. Few months later it went up to $320 and in July 2023 it went up again to $390. We objected to the raise and asked that company to explain the reasons knowing that the city raised the landfill fee each January by around 5%. We did not receive any explanation to the raise, but they added that if we renew the contract again theyd roll it back to $320. In addition, the city permit to have the waste bin outside is around $600, but Wast Connections adds. $300 to the permit fee and when we asked why, they told us that they need send the paperwork to the city. We would like to hear from the company about their pricing policy and an explanation as to why they raise the permit fee by 50% when every other company raises it by less than 10%.
