    Over the past several years, I have had Belvidere Construction do a lot of work on the foundation of my house, both inside and out. I kept hiring them because of the good quality of their work. The last piece of work was on the south-east corner of the exterior foundation, which was completed in early November 2024 . Most of the work had been under the walkway in the front of my house, with a small piece exposed on the driveway. In mid-November, Winnipeg experienced a large rainfall. A few days after that, the contents of the exposed piece began to slid under the walkway. Within a few days it became evident that Belvidere had not put fill into the space beneath the walkway. I alerted Belvidere to this situation. They had one of their staff come out and shore up the sliding by putting small gravel on the exposed section. Since then, the walkway itself has begun to sink. The walkway had cracked many years ago and I had a company come and fill it. Since that time, the walkway has been stable until today. I have asked Anthony **********, the owner of Belvidere Construction, directly to rectify the situation now before winter sets in. To date, he has done nothing concrete to rectify it, nor has he made me aware of any plans to do so at any time. He has offered to prepare a proposal to remove the concrete walkway, put in fill and replace the concrete walkway. I told him that I would look at the proposal, as long as it does not cost me further for the work that I have already paid for. To date, I have not received the proposal. The concrete removal and replacement was not part of the original estimate, which I paid for in full, on time and in good faith, being the sum of $******** I am hoping the BBB can assist in ending this situation by having the proper work done under my walkway before the winter really sets and the ground freezes, at no further cost to myself.

    At Belvidere Construction, we take great pride in going above and beyond to exceed our clients’ expectations and provide professional, high-quality work.


    In this particular instance, despite our best efforts to address the homeowner’s concerns promptly and professionally, we were unable to achieve a satisfactory resolution.  We proposed immediate solutions to rectify the situation and offered to complete the necessary work quickly.  However, the homeowner expressed feeling that the process was moving too fast, and we respect her perspective.

    Our review of the project, including photographs from its inception, indicated that the sidewalk had not shifted during the course of our work. Nevertheless, we understand the importance of ensuring every client feels completely satisfied with our services. While we greatly appreciate the homeowner’s continued trust in hiring Belvidere Construction, we regret that we were unable to meet her expectations in this case.

    As a gesture of goodwill, we have fully reimbursed the homeowner for the cost of this project. We remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and customer care in all that we do.

    My latest experience with Anthony ********** *and Belvidere Construction has been nothing short of a disappointment. My characterization of the events this fall differ significantly from the Belvidere response sent to you in late December 2024.  In my opinion, there has not been a real effort on the part of Belvidere to solve the problem.  From allowing the current situation to occur, to telling me that the walkway had to be removed and replaced at my expense, to not providing a proposal until he received my complaint to the BBB, ** ********** *** *** *******, to finally sending a response on Dec 23, two days before Christmas. 

                In short, Belvidere will be hearing from me in the spring of 2025 *** *** ****** ******** ****** ********

    I’d like to make a formal complaint regarding the foundation repair company Belvidere Construction. Two years ago they fixed my foundation and I have had leaking ever since. This year they returned to fulfil their warranty work by redoing and repairing the foundation. Specifically they neglected to repair the foundation two years ago and just covered it up which created the problem and need for a redo on the whole job. I have been trying to contact them since the day after they finished to remind them of work that was incomplete. Many unanswered phone calls and texts and conversations with their representatives Has had no results. I will provide you with a list of items as I have notified them as well. So far they are refusing to complete set list items and the owner will not return my call. 1- I have a buried and trenched sump pump expulsion hose leading from my house to the back lane who’s outlet comes up through the ground which they have buried or cut off. it’s unknown until they dig it down and discover what they’ve done wrong. 2- The previously existing patio stones in front of my back door have not been replaced and are left strewn in my backyard. 3- As a result of work done by them two years ago I had to then purchase 4 yards of topsoil to put around my house to make up for the sinking ground level and I shouldn’t have to purchase that again once this soil from this job sinks down. I requested they deliver more soil so I can replace it myself in the spring. In addition I had to purchase A half yard of quarter down two years ago to replace the sinking in front of my back door and I shouldn’t have to pay that cost again this year to account for this year‘s job’s inevitable sinking. 4- The gate post allowing me to shut and lock my gate sunk after the first job two years ago I asked them to repair that this year and they haven’t; I can no longer close my gate without them rectifying it. 5- They did not anchor my window wells to the house at which needs to be rectified. 6- two years ago after their job completion I discovered my air conditioner mysteriously was drained of Freon which I had to pay for. As they had to dig right below it I assume they must’ve bumped a line causing it to leak. This is a warning to me that if in the spring next year my air conditioner again has leaked I will assume they have done it again even though I warned them about it and told them to protect it this year , which they did not. 7- if I have leaking water in my basement again in the spring, I am concerned that they will be even more difficult in honouring their warranty yet again. As I had more leaking this spring; before they did the job the second time, and after I had already paid for an insurance claim to repair my basement property on the inside. I am concerned that I will have to make another costly claim following this winter. In summary my experience with this company has been very disappointing and costly *** ******* **** **** **** * *** ***** ****** ******** ****** ******** ** **** ** * ******** ****** ***** *** **** ** ******** **** **** ********** ***** *** ***** ********* *** ******** ****

    Belvidere Construction takes great pride in the company’s workmanship.  We are sorry you are not pleased with the end result.   Belvidere Construction went into great detail to go above and beyond to ensure all items were complete when we left this site. Some pump hose, patio stones, extra topsoil, quarter down, etc…everything was delivered, place, and completed as it should have been.

    We are sorry to hear you are not happy with the final results of your project.  When we completed the work a thorough walk around was completed.  The yard was left in exceptional condition with everything completed.
