Date of Stay: 19 Aug – 21 Aug 2023 Complaint: beds were not changed from the previous guest, 1 bed had feces on the sheet. In the morning of Monday Aug 21 while getting ready to leave, I pulled back all the sheets on my bed for housekeeping and noticed there was dried feces 3/4 down on the sheet. I never noticed it before because when getting into bed, I only pull back the top part of the bedding. I was disgusted to think I spent 2 nights sleeping on a sheet that clearly was not changed from the previous guest but worse, that there was dried feces on it. I immediately pulled off the bottom sheet with dried feces on it and brought it to the attention of the receptionist and manager at the front desk. I was told that the policy of the hotel was that customers are to inspect the room and report any issues within 15 minutes of checking in. I have never heard of such a thing before. Aside from that policy not being realistic, I can’t imagine the first thing anyone does going into a hotel room is to pull back all the sheets to the bottom of the bed to inspect the sheets. Manager was indifferent and unsympathetic. Since there was no point to deal with the management of the hotel, I will seek out other avenues. I have emailed the GM of the hotel with my complaint, no response. I believe it’s a reasonable expectation that the room I rent will be clean and sanitary. The hotel failed to meet the requirement of a lodging business to provide a clean, hygienic environment for a guest and responded to the situation with utter indifference. This situation has caused me great distress having the experience of my Mother and I sleeping in beds that weren’t changed from the previous guest. My issue made worse knowing there was dried feces on my sheet. For this experience, I am expected to pay $400.70. I would like the Hotel Moncton to step up, acknowledge the error and provide compensation. As well, I think a surprise visit from a health inspector would be prudent.
