Muskoka Roofing asked for payment upfront, in May 2019, of thousands of dollars, which I sent to the address on their website so they could order materials. My cheque arrived late, because their mailing address is different from the one on the site. That delayed roof installation by a month. Further delays were caused by their family emergency which called one of the owners to England. By then we were in high season in July. Installation finally commenced late summer, but it was a roofer sub-contracted by Muskoka Roofing. I had to ask him to remember the ridge vents, and I noticed that 7 rolls of ice and water shield sitting in my driveway to be installed, were not installed. When the job was done, the company took those rolls away with them. By that time, I had already paid the invoice in full (over $14,000), The price had included full ice and water shield, plus installation of it before the shingles. The owner then billed me further, for HST of about $1400, which I refused to pay. The following winter was Covid, and I could not get to the house from Quebec. The year after, 2020, I came to the house and continued renovation on the inside. That winter, waterstains appeared on new drywall and cedar inside. I notified the roofing company and the insulation company. The insulators returned and made corrections to the spray foam. The roofers did not call, despite repeated attempts by me to contact them. In January 2022, the roof is leaking seriously in several places (8, along valleys and ridges both). Water damage was incurred through the ceiling of the ground floor as well as on the second floor. Muskoka Roofing has not responded to my calls. Their response to my review on their website was simply that the person who originally estimated the cost of my job no longer works with them.
