    Pattern of Complaint:

BBB files indicate that this business has a pattern of complaints concerning service and repair issues. Specifically, consumers allege that the company is unable to properly diagnose and repair appliances effectively, there is a lack of follow-up and resolution to issues, and the cost of parts is grossly inflated.

We have also noted the following situation in many of the disputes filed through BBB:

Consumers are advised by the company that a service call will cost $80 however, once the service technician arrives, that amount is increased to approximately $300 to diagnose the issue. The consumer is then told the appliance can be fixed and they are given a repair agreement which outlines the cost of labour. When the document is signed, the work begins and upon further inspection new parts are required and the repair quickly escalates in price. In many cases the repair suggested to the consumer is ineffective and the appliance is still not in working order.

In July 2019, BBB submitted a written request to the company encouraging them to address the pattern of complaints. BBB has not received a response to date.

In December 2022, BBB staff reviewed the information on file and determined that the pattern of complaints had not been resolved.  BBB continues to receive a high volume of complaints similar in nature.

BBB offers the following tips when choosing an appliance repair company:

Research the company online - Check to see how long the company has been in business and if previous customers have had a positive experience.

Contact the manufacturer - Most appliance manufacturers have authorized service technicians that have received specialized training on their products. You may also wish to confirm there are no recalls on the appliance and that parts are still available.

Confirm the pricing - BBB suggests consumers confirm what is included in service fees. Does it include diagnosis of the issue, and will it be credited back if you decide to go ahead with repairs, etc.?

Ask about warranties - Check to see if the company offers a warranty on the parts or service. Often this will show whether they are confident that the repair will work.

Check BBB.org - Visit bbb.org to find a BBB Accredited appliance repair company.

I called Appliance repair team, as i ******* and said they are the only ones that repair ** fridges. The lady on phone said they may be able to have someone out today. She put me on hold, and said she can have a person between 2 pm - 5 pm. I said its still under warranty, and she said they are ** warranty approved repair centre. So i said send them. She said she has to explain a few things to me first. Its $80 to have the technican come and he will give me a quote on the repairs. if i don't like the quote i have to pay the $80. if i want the repair done on the quote then i wont have to pay the $80, its waived, but ill have to pay the quote price. i said that sounds fair, send them please. they arrived around noon. i already had the fridge pulled out and the cover off the board and cover off the compressor so it was easier for them. they go to back of fridge take a picture of the board and a picture of compressor, and said " it will be $320 and we will have this up and running in 10 minutes." so we said go ahead and paid debit. as soon as the payment went thru they said it needs a compressor cost will be $1600 plus tax and labour. I"m like we paid you for what? we just paid you and u said you can have it fixed and you have done nothing. they said no sir, you paid us fora quote. i'm like no way have i ever heard of paying for a quote. i paid you $80 thats for the quote. they left paperwork and walked out. ive been in contact with customer service and they refuse to refund. ive called many many times. at first i said refund me the $320 minus the $80 for the guy showing up. he needs to get paid. they still refused. now i want a full $320 refund

I was quoted $80 for a service call to repair my stove - once technician arrived, The stoves digital control panel was glitching - it was working but had glitches (stove is 14 months old purchased form *****) he said he had "seen this before" and he "knew what to do". He quoted me $295 plus hst to repair my stove to which I agreed. He proceeded to do the work- I was not in the room when he finished. He said that the stove would take 4 hours to calibrate and not to touch the controls until after that time. He said it was fixed- he also said IF I needed to replace the two boards it would be $1400 plus tax for parts- to which I said if that happens I will just get a new stove. I paid him- he left- and of course the digital panel now does not respond at all- he actually made it worse. I called the company and explained it was not responding at all- told them I am happy to pay for the $80 service call if they can please refund the rest as he did not repair anything- they refused and said they don't refund labour- to which I said but he didnt fix it?? If he had told me to pay $1700 to repair it total I would have declined and only paid the service call. I feel this company is very dubious- they are not up front with costs and repairs and do not care once they have received the $ (neither the customer service rep or manager wanted to help) - ************************************************************* he got paid and left without showing me the stove was working because he said it had to 'calibrate' - had I seen it was not working- I would not have paid for the repairs-- only the $80 service call

Jul 8/21 a tech from Ateam appliance repair came and completed a diagnostic of my *********** fridge. Tech indicated that the main board and user interface board needed to be replaced. He indicated normally it takes 2-5 days to get parts in but at this time it would take 2-3 weeks. It has been 3. Oaths and several calls and still no repair as the main board is not in. The tech says he cannot just replace the use interface. I've asked that they replace the interface board and deduct any cost for the main board as it is not available. They attempted to resolve by having me pay a restocking fee and a shipping fee which I refused as they have nothing to restock or shipping to pay. I would like the interface board installed and if they cannot I would like a full refund excluding the service call. *************************************************************************************************************************

My washing machine broke I contacted the A-Team appliance repair to come and inspect and quote the repair. I told them when I booked the appointment that I was unavailable during the day and did not have access to a phone. I made all the arrangements for them to enter the property including giving them a door code to access and a description of where the machine was. My tenant was home all day during the day. No one rang the doorbell or knocked on the door. I did not miss any phone calls from this company. The technician did not try to enter the property. When I called the company at the end of the day they told me the technician came to our property and since I was unavailable they left. Now they want to charge me for a missed appointment and also want to charge me more money for a second appointment. When I booked the appointment I made all of the arrangements including notifying them that I was not available and that I had authorized all the work. The customer service agent did not have any further questions for me and did not tell me that if I was not available by phone that the technician would not enter and I would be charged for a missed appointment. This was not disclosed verbally, nor did I acknowledge any terms and conditions on their website or by email. If I had known that I had to be physically present or available by phone I would have booked a different company as I was clear from the start that I was not available. I still have a broken washing machine a very angry tenant and a bill for $100 for a technician that never even showed up.

I called the company on Sunday October 10, 2021 as my Washing Machine broke down showing a SD flashing across the screen. The technician came on Monday October 11, 2021 and was at my home for about 45min. - 1 hour. When He wanted to discuss the machine and what was wrong, he stated the a actuator motor needed to be replaced. He stated that the spin should be at a certain RPM and because the motor was not working it is not spinning. He gave me the quote that it would be $320 plus tax for the part plus $290 for labour and asked that I pay majority up front and the remainder will be paid when its fixed. He came back on 10/19/2021 and replaced the basket hub and that's it. When I looked up the cost of the the part on the ****** site, it was $34.99. I called customer service of the company and they stated he just wrote the wrong part on the quote but order the basket hub kit at the shop and that's what I needed. She refused to reimburse me for the correct price or discuss further.

I contacted the A team appliance repair as I was having issues with my dryer. A technician came to my apartment on October 6, 2021 and determined that there was an issue with the dryers air flow and heating system. I was told it would cost $295 to fix this issue. On that basis, I advised him to proceed with the repair. Once he was done working on the machine he advised me that the dryer was in good working order. After he left and for the next few days after this, I tested the dryer with several loads of laundry (ranging in size from small, medium and large) and found that the dryer was still not working any better than before the technician worked on it. I have contacted the company to let them know and they refuse to send a technician back out and will not refund the charge of $333.13 I was told that no new parts were added to my dryer and that I was charged a "labour fee" I would like a full refund as nothing was actually done to my dryer

We have a dishwasher that is leaking out the bottom (from the motor). We were told there was an $80 dispatch fee and that the service technician would give a quote to repair when the dishwasher was inspected. At the time of booking, they also added that If we agreed to the quote they would wave the dispatch fee. When the technician was on site he asked for permission to do the inspection by signing on the service order. At no point were details provided about the repair. About 30 minutes later he informed us that he could not detect the leak and that the dishwasher required a new heating element to dry the dishes (for $275) which we declined (this was not the problem). He gave a quote for labour at $280 plus tax. He didn't do anything except run the dishwasher and did not diagnose the problem. This amount was then written on the service order beside the signature, making it seem that we had agreed to the labour quote previously. Payment was demanded by debit or cash only.

We had them come in to repair our hood fan (that was making a noise) on October 19th. Before they came it still cycled through the levels (low, med, high) but would make a noise. When they came out the tech did open it up and check it. He said that he would do some work on it, and he said he did fix it. He said if it breaks in the future we would need a new $800 part. He turned the fan on quick and turned it off again letting my husband know it was fixed. He then left. 5 mins after he left the fan no longer turned on at all! When we called to see what they would help us with they said nothing. They stated that it was explained that it did not work and it did need a new part. That was NOT explained to us. We were told it was fixed. The customer service "manager" was unwilling to meet us half way. We even offered to pay the $80 for the call and just asked for a refund for the rest. They are unwilling to even do that. **************************** **********************************

9/10/21 - contacted A Team Appliance re washing machine not working. They sent out a repair person the next day. He arrived in his personal car, and did an assessment to determine drain was not working. Charged us $280 plus tax for a total of $316.00, which my husband paid be debit. We, after the fact, checked reviews, and this was their common practice, and then to not follow through. We phone Tuesday, Oct. 12, to find out that the part had not been ordered. We called Wednesday, Oct. 13, and were told the part was on the way, and we could possibly have it repaired on Sat. No call back from them. We called this morning to be told it hadn't left the warehouse. We immediately asked for a refund. That could only be done by cheque and would not be done until the end of next week. No Debit available- total refund would be 89.53. That was determined after they added a restocking fee even though it had not left the warehouse. I have also filed a police report to the fraud unit.

On October 12, 2021 booked an appointment for October 13, 2021 for window 11am to 2pm. I was quoted that service $80 and if any repair needed to be done it would be included in total amount. Waited until 2pm and called to ask where a representative was, they mentioned they tried to get in touch with me to move my window to 3pm to 6pm - there was no attempt, I even confirmed what number they called. Finally they were like yes someone is on the way. The technician arrived and stated that for the dishwasher the mother board was no longer working but was fixable. I asked in his expert opinion would it make sense to just buy a new dishwasher instead in investing in a diagnose and repair of $250.00. He stated that he could fix it and it would be too expensive to buy a new dishwasher at $700.00. I asked him to call me back if a part needed to be included. I did not recieve a call back and total came to $333 plus $395 additional for a part. My tenant stated that it was still not working.
