We contracted Tar and Chip (TAC) to replace our driveway and install the ******** product on our walkway and step in 2019. The price was $8777.00 for the driveway and $3827 for the walkway. There were a number of communication challenges and delays but the job was eventually done. However, there were quality issues with the completed job and someone walked on the sidewalk leaving footprints. The season was ending so TAC agreed to complete the following in spring 2020 a)remove the temporary edging and pave the top of the step and level, b) pave over the foortprints on the walkway by adding a layer to the entire surface, c)add a layer over the walkway leading away from the house and address the overspray on the ******** d)blend the walkway with the driveway evenly e)inspect the driveway d)reparge if the tar cannot be removed from the house. This work was delayed in 2020 due to COVID but we were promised it would be addressed by the end of the season. In 2021, I tried to schedule the completion of the above items but was repeatedly delayed and the season ended. Spring 2022, a foreman assured us that every issue would be resolved. He offered to replace the driveway with asphalt and combined with their warranty it would be cheaper to maintain than the original driveway. We agreed and the driveway was repaved. Unfortunately, the edges were not paved in a straight line. I also inquired repeatedly about the warranty but never got a clear answer on the cost or what exactly was covered. The walkway was resurfaced but the colour did not match the original so the step is now two toned and the top edge is not clean. A crew tried to wash the oil spray off the parging but smeared it further. The price for this work was $6101.054 for the paving and $1115 for the ********. Spring 2023, the asphalt has cracked along the edges, the ******** has now cracked where it meets the driveway and the side still needs to be reparged. I cannot reach the company by phone or e-mail.

Last Aug Sept TAC put in a permeable driveway for us at a cost of $18000. I have not been able to reach them. After the winter season there were some problems with the drieway and the office manager replied April but have not been able to reach anyone since. Phone numbers are not in service. Tried to reach ******** in Toronto but they have not responded to my inquiries either.

I (***, the homeowner) and my fiancee (***, also homeowner) are extremely disappointed in Ottawa TAC and the laundry list of issues that they have caused on our property. I have attached a large email thread with many details (including a large list of issues), and two photos of the property damage that they caused to our home in November 2022, with no follow up to-date (as of April 8 2023), despite dozens of emails and calls from us to Ottawa TAC, all of which have gone entirely ignored. The list of issues caused by TAC is far too long to fit into this text box, so I have attached a PDF document with the list enclosed. I have also attached photos of the damage caused, and I have more photos of the more minor grievances (not cleaning up after their work). The caused damage is still not fixed.

They have been promising for 3 yrs to do a warranty repair on my front walk. I have 3 yrs of emails from them. They have come twice to inspect it and each time confirmed it needs warranty repair. I have given up. They keep saying they will repair it, and they never do. This is obviously a breach of contract

A contract to install Pure Pave and Tac BLK Paving was signed on May 27, 2019, the contract value was $ 18,727.26. The contract included a 3 year proactive warranty for the Tac and a 10 year warranty for the Pure Pave section of it. Right after the installation in July of that year we noticed definite deficiencies in the Tar and Chip part of the job and immediately send a notice together with pictures to report this. The surface of the whole area looked very uneven with some really rough and some very smooth areas. ******’s response was that they will send a crew to give it another coat in September  of 2019.  We send multiple reminders and requests which resulted first in multiple promises of action, then statements to the effect that in order to keep the company afloat during Covid they could not perform repair work but could work only on new installations and now, that Covid can no longer be used as an excuse, again a broken promise. In the meantime the condition of course  worsened the pavement is just wearing away. There are areas that go right down to the bed, no tar and chip coating left. Notice of this continuing deterioration together with pictures were sent to the office in 2020, 2021 and again this spring.  Now even the Pure Pave part is starting to show defects.   We strongly believe that the problems of our pavement stem from the fact that the crew experienced problems with the tar heating machine in the middle of the job. Rather than coming back another day they just continued anyhow with what they had but it obviously was not sufficient.  We no longer trust that Tac Ottawa has any intentions to fulfill this contract obligation, we gave them chance after chance to do so to no avail. Therefore another company will have to be hired to do the job. In order to facilitate this we are asking for a refund of $ 10,000.00 and hope that this will be enough to cover the expense.
