Making a difference: The power of BBB Arkansas Foundation initiatives

We are proud of the impact BBB's Education Foundation has throughout the state! Representatives of the foundation are available on request, and actively seek out, networking events, conferences, schools and community hubs to spread important messages regarding consumer protection and hot topics in the business world. Since 2014, BBB's Education Foundation has awarded 66 local businesses with BBB ethics awards including the Torch Award for Ethics and the Spark Award. We encourage you to learn more about this program, the winners, and consider nominating a business or submitting an application for your organization!

The Torch Awards for Ethics is the Education Foundation's premier business event! Held each year, business from across the state are honored for ethics and integrity. In 2021, we asked previous Torch Award recipients and friends of BBB's Foundation what the Torch Award means to them. We compiled their feedback in this video!

Since the inception of BBB's student outreach initiatives in 2022, we have crossed education paths with thousands of students across the state, reaching over 1,000 students in 2024 alone, with messages on topics like entrepreneurship, scam avoidance, finance, professionalism, ethics and more. Our research shows that young adults, aged 18-24, are the most at risk for losing money to scams and bad business deals.

We look forward to reaching more students in 2025 providing resources for life after high school! This year marks the launch of BBB's Student Video Contest in Arkansas where students will have the opportunity to put their skills and knowledge to the test to compete for prizes for themselves and their school! We encourage you to learn more. 

BBB and BBB's Education Foundation is proud to reach hundreds of thousands of business professionals and consumers each year with resources on scam avoidance, financial health and safety, and organizational best practices with the help of local media, digital advertising efforts, and local community organizations. 

In 2025, our goal is to focus additional time and resources towards older adult communities (55+) who, research shows, are the second most at risk group to encounter scams and bad business deals. In 2024, we were proud to provide presentations to several aging communties in partnership with local senior centers and living facilities.
