If you decide on a membership at Alaska Club, you should read the 9 page contract. If you do, you'll see the hidden charges. As a 70 year old on social security, I can't afford them.

I applied at the Alaska club on a trial membership in September and missed the cut off date to cancel without the fee. I never once used the gym and was charged another month when I submitted my written notice of cancellation online. I was charged two months after I cancelled. The conversation I had on the phone did not give me the impression that I was still being charged for the month of October on top of the cancellation fee in November. I was told about the cancellation fee only.

Alaska Club membership sales person ( at least in my case) presented false information about access to swimming pool, free fitness coaching, the possibility to pause membership for the time while the member is out of state for vacation and the monthly payment rules. Then when I wanted to cancel my membership within the first month , ( due to practically no access to the pool no free coaching ) the accounting office refused it (unless I pay 400 some dollars) telling me what the salesperson told me ( front of other witness) does not matter. and still attempted to deduct payments from my debit card (that was never authorized) for months 'till I closed my account to prevent it. In my opinion I was mislead, defrauded and denied of basic customer rights. Never ever even consider to use their "services" again. They should be ashamed . I hope someone will start a class action suit, I would sign up for sure. ****************

**************** purchased a one-year membership with a commitment date of 3/12/2024.  Before an application can be submitted through our online portal, an Agreement for Payment form authorizing automatic payments must be complete.  Our records show **************** provided credit card information.  His one-year agreement included a 21-Day Money Back Guarantee allowing him to cancel his family membership for any reason and receive a full refund if he submits a written cancellation to our office by his 21st day of membership.

**************** visited our office on 4/3/2023 to cancel his membership and was advised that his 21-Day Money Back Guarantee period had expired.  Our representative explained the terms of his agreement and cancellation policy after the 21-Day period expires; a 30-day notice in writing with an early cancel fee of $299.  **************** declined to review his agreement, refused to sign a cancellation form, and left our office.

The initial payment made when he enrolled was the only payment made towards the membership and as a result, his membership was cancelled involuntary for non-payment.   Attempts to reach **************** by phone about the balance went unanswered.

When I signed up at The Alaska Club at their Juneau location, I told the sales representative that I was only in town for the Summer. The representative offered to place me on a monthly charge plan. I declined the offer and I said that I wanted to make a payment that day and then in two weeks I would pay the remaining balance for the Summer season (May through September). The representative said, "Okay" and then he took my credit card into another room and he set me up on the monthly charge plan unbeknownst to me.After two weeks I asked the staff how much do I owe and they said, "No balance". The next week I asked the staff again and again they said, "No balance".Then I asked a sales representative about it and he said, "No balance".The next month I noticed that there was a monthly charge on my credit card and I knew that I had been lied to.In August, I put in a 30 day notice that I was leaving via email to their accounting department in *********. Their response read that they needed a 60 day notice, therefore, I would be charged an additional month's payment of $152.25 plus $10 dollars for setting up the monthly charge plus $4.00 dollars per month after that for the mail of receipts.I am presently fighting these charges through my credit card company.I will never go back to the Alaska Club gym. This is my fair warning to other would be patrons.
