This New Years Eve my group of friends decided to go to Sammy Ts, so we preordered couples tickets online to save money. We all were allowed in except for my gay friend with ripped jeans. Sammy Ts has a dress code, but is known to only apply it to black or LGBTQ people who try to come in. The only other time I experienced this dress code was when I tried to go in with my black friend earlier this year, to which we were told we had basketball shorts and a t-shirt which wasnt the case and a black Ts allowed. My gay friend and I went back to the car to change because we had a pair of pants with no holes and violated no other dress codes. We walked back and waited in line with some other friends again. Once again, everyone was allowed in except for my gay friend, so we began to ask why since he changed to fit their dress code. Sammy T and the security were both there and said they dont know or because there was a flower design on the pants, which isnt in their dress code. I ended up being told by Sammy ****** and staff I couldnt get in now either because of my attitude, which in reality I wasnt allowed because I was defending my friend calmly and respectfully. I asked for a refund, but was refused and none of them would tell me how I could get one. Then the staff threatened me with physical force though I was standing outside the business on the sidewalk downtown in what I believe is public property. Sammy was rude and loud towards me as well. I have heard and seen many other people post about this business in similar negative ways, so I looked to see what I could do about it and I ended up here. There is also a whole Reddit feed about this business where one can read related experiences and more. The place has multiple legal problems also From this Id hope to receive an apology and refund at the least.
