Fairaway lawns promised me a free month of yard care. The technician came out to my home in June, took one look at my backyard for weeds and dandelions and decided that he was going to put a yard sign in my yard, and leave the property. This man never came back, no attempt to contact me was made, I contacted them several times only to have no clear answer on WHEN my yard would get fixed, I ended up moving out of that property a month later (which is documented) and at no time did fairaway bother to notify me that I had an active account racking up money. This is an unfair collection and I demand that this collection be removed from my account immediately.Business Response

Service was provided in March of 2024, then cancelled due to ineffectiveness. Monthly fee was paid prior to cancellation. Was informed there would be no further charges. One year later I received a collection notice for services that were not provided. No prior billing or attempt to charge a credit card on file were made. No attempts to resolve this invalid debt prior to reporting to a collection agency were made. All attempts to contact the company have been met with a refusal to communicate.Business Response

In February, Fairway Lawns service person called from the Greenville, SC location on ***** **** ** to see about doing my lawn and I told him - not at this time. He informed me to call into the office when I was ready for the treatment of my lawn. I have been using this company for over 6 years. They call and if I say yes, they will treat my lawn and leave the bill on my front door. I called them last week and the lady informed me that I had a unpaid bill from February 15th of $71.00. I told her that I did not have any treatment in February, and I will not pay for service I have not received. The service person did not leave a bill, nor have I heard from the company concerning a past due bill until I called to get the treatment for my lawn last week (March 17th or 18th) I don't understand how this company can charge me for something they have not done. The company lied and said I signed paperwork for a 8 month contract on grass service treatment at my home residence. I had verbal communication with ** ****** about a one to month grass treatment lawn service for backyard. I received 2 treatment but was not satisfied with services I told ******* and he said the treatment is free when you are not satisfied and that I didn’t have to continue the service. I cancelled the service and was never billed. I received a credit bureau notification that fairway lawn and a collection agency charged me $200. This is damaging and unfair. This company is not good or responsible. I want an apology and those s charges removed for my credit. This is an insult. My lawn in the backyard is gated and locked. Why the company tell lies. Not happy The company refuses to help me.Business Response

I signed up for service with Fairway Lawns in April or May 2024. I had brand new sod and ordered all of the services to keep it looking good. Within 3 months, I began having crabgrass issues. In addition, every time they came out to apply treatment, various parts of healthy fescue died off, but the weeds remained. I called Fairway Lawns approximately 15 times to complain. I also talked to ***** who said he was too busy to come out, but he would try to get out at some time. In July, I literally pulled out enough crabgrass to fill a large black trash bag. Once crabgrass takes hold, it is very difficult to get rid of and I had listed my house for sale. Disgruntled with the services provided, I personally went into the business on Topside and cancelled my service on July 30th, 2024. . Fairway lawn serviced my lawn in August, without my approval. I have tried numerous times to resolve the issue, but nobody calls me back. Fairway lawns have now sent me to collections. I have phone records to prove my calls to the business. Looking at the BBB complaints, I see that this is an on-going issue with the business. I will take legal action because I tried in good faith to resolve this with the businessBusiness Response

We were double charged a $100 fee in August. We have called Fairway Lawns over 6 times since then trying to get refunded for the fee. They continuously say a manager will call us back and we have not received a single phone call from a manager. Now, they are trying to say we owe them more money. I am happy to pay for my service, even though it was a terrible job and did NOT work, but I will pay the balance once I am refunded my $100. We have also sent over bank statements from our bank showing where they charged us twice.Business Response

Earlier this year, **** *********, Fairway Lawns, contacted me regarding a service package special. I verbally accepted but did not receive the email agreement. I didn't hear from Fairway but noticed the 1st and 2nd services were completed and then nothing. Not sure how much time passed but I received a call and a letter from a collections agency regarding my Fairway account. I immediately called Fairway and paid my $150.00 balance during the call. My service resumed after the payment, a third service was completed and then nothing. At this point, I was under the impression I cancelled my account after the third service and my balance was $0. I began receiving recordings from Fairway requesting I call to discuss my balance. I returned 4-5 calls to Fairway requesting the calls to stop, my account be closed, and I advised I would not be making any more payments. I specifically told each representative that since Fairway turned my account over to a collections agency, I had no desire to have anymore contact with Fairway and to stop calling me. I'm continuously harassed by repeat calls requesting I call Fairway to discuss my account. Today, I was called by ******* and told my account was closed but I still have to pay $100 because of my verbal agreement. I once again advised I paid for three services ($150) and I would not be paying anything else. I also advised ******* that due to my account being sent to a collections agency, and the possibility of negative results to my credit, I wanted nothing else to do with Fairway. ******* then suggested she could lower my balance to $50. I told her I was not paying anything and I abruptly disconnected the call. In my opinion, I am being harassed to the point of bullying by these representatives. In 2024, I received calls on 6/3, 7/11, 8/7, 8/13, 8/20, 8/28, 9/5, 9/12, and 9/18. It should be noted, a few years ago I used Fairway but cancelled because their service did not kill the weeds or make my lawn green.Business Response

I have been a customer for several months. I have been paying a premium of $45 per treatment with no improvement to my postal stamp sized yard. I was told treating the weeds between monthly treatments would be free of charge, yet I was charged another $45 for weed treatment today. I was charged $45 automatically to my credit card without my consent. This has been a waste of money for months.Business Response

I received an invoice for services (July 2024) that were not performed, so I immediately contacted Customer Service at Fairway Lawns to clarify. I was told that the program I was on charges the customer monthly for lawn care service regardless of whether or not services were rendered. I did not receive or sign any contract or agreement. When I started my lawn service with Fairway in June 2024, the technician explained to me that lawn services were provided month to month and I would only be responsible for services I received and I could cancel at any time. Fairway Lawns provided services at my property on 6/21/24 and 8/13/24. When I received my bill for August, there was an additional charge for July for $50.00. I contacted customer service and they stated I was responsible to pay that invoice, even though services were not provided. During my conversation with ******* at Fairway, she agreed that the technician may not have explained Fairway’s lawn care programs clearly and expressed that Fairway is not responsible how a homeowner interprets the information. My interpretation, after speaking with the technician and review of the quote, is that I would receive lawn care services each month for a fee of $50. Since no service was rendered in July, it would be presumed that there would not be any charges incurred. Overall, I was very pleased with the lawn care that I did receive from my technician; however, it has been very difficult and time-consuming dealing with the office staff for scheduling and billing issues. I would appreciate a refund of $50 for services I did not receive in July and my balance reflect that it is paid in full.Business Response

Originally had a employee from fairway lawns knock on my door and we had an agreement for treatment of my lawn which would be 6 main treatments broken up across a year and unlimited weed killing treatments for the year that I could call them to have treated over the lawn. We agreed on a set amount and I paid in full for the year! The treatments came and I called several extra times about having the weeds killed that they didn’t kill on the initial treatments. My lawn had been newly installed to which I have the receipts for and over the year I noticed the yard becoming patchy like something was killing it. They notified me I had a balance and I called to speak with them asking for a manager to walk my lawn with me to point out that I shouldn’t have dead spots in the front lawn that there seems to have been something happen via treatment. I was assured that a manager would come out and walk my lawn with me to talk about what could be done. I explained that I wanted to speak to the guy walking them lawn before treatment but that I would pay for my bill that was the initial agreement when I started. The guy on the phone agreed and took a payment. No manager called or ever came out to which I then called them up asking what happen and they said they were sorry for the delay but that the manager would contact me and come out. They said they made notes on my account which weeks had gone by at this point. They then treated my yard against what was agreed since the manager had not come out to walk the yard with me to see what could be done. I called back again saying I wanted to have the manager walk the yard with me to see what could be done and yet again they said one would call me to come out. They treated my yard again and then billed me for it. I then called saying I don’t have a bill I have the originally agreement from the year before which I have made the payment of. I asked for a manager at that time to call me and I have called again today asking again for a call!Business Response

We apologize that not all the calls were properly documented. Specific coaching will be done. The manager will be reaching out and will get out to see the customer's lawn yet this week. We want to make this right.
