12/15/2024-4/13/2025 ClearOne Advantage I went into this program in hoped of cleaning up debt post divorce. They have withdrawn $775 from me, of which is appears $162 remains. They "settled" one account since December 2024, and have paid them $50. They have paid themselves $560 in "transaction fees", "settlement fees" and "service fees". When I requested that my account be closed and funds returned, the *** informed me that I owed THEM $223 for accepting a settlement offer. This is akin to theft.

My name is ***** *******. I am 73 years old. I was looking for a debit consolidation program. I came across Clear One on ********. It was BBB accredited, so I went with it. I spoke to *******. We talked for over 40 minutes. He took all my information including my SSN. We also included my son in this because we live together and wanted to consolidate his bills with mine. My son is on disability. He said he would tabulate everything and get back to me in 1 hour. 2 weeks later and I still can't reach him. I left a message 1 time when it actually gave me somewhere to leave a message. I tried texting to no avail. I finally reached someone on 2/26/2025. His name was *****. When I asked for *******, he hemmed and hawed then said hold on. after about 2 minutes ****** came on the phone. Then proceed to tell me my case was sent to *****. At this point I told her how I felt this was a scam and that I was reporting this to BBB. the phone numbers I have are *****************-477-9961, ************. They all answer Clear One but no one ever answers the phone. Just says they are trying to connect to your agent.

After searching for debt consolidation online, I was contact by ClearOne Advantage. The representative I spoke with outlined the details of their service (leaving out one of the most important key details -- you stop paying your debts, thereby entering default with your creditors before their services kick in). He was a good salesman -- too good. I entered into an agreement with them, but quickly realized my mistake. I sent a cancellation notice less than an hour after signing the paperwork. I received confirmation of the cancellation and was assured no funds would be drawn from my account. Low and behold, 12 days later $263.96 was deducted from my bank account. Hours after the deduction, I received an email that the company received my cancellation. I immediately wrote back expressing my anger and frustration that these funds had been taken from my account, since I had canceled the policy within an hour of signing the agreement which was a full 12 days before the funds were withdrawn. I have heard no response from the company and can no longer get in touch with the original representative I spoke with at the beginning of this process.

I paid extra for legal representation if I was to be sued by a creditor. I uploaded the court documents and never received any communication from the company. A writ of garnishment involving my mortgage company as the garnishee has been served to me and I received an email stating that I could no longer be helped. I called in October several times to inform Clearone that ai was displaced due to Hurricane ****** and did not have access to the internet u til Dec. I was repeatedly told to access the portal.

    1. *************************** of My Funds According to the ClearOne Advantage portal, my creditor was overpaid by $531. However, when I contacted customer service to address this discrepancy, I was given multiple conflicting answers by different representatives. Some claimed the amount was not overpaid, while others stated that the company was still "owed" to keep this money. Despite being shown clearly in my account that the settlement was overpaid, ClearOne refuses to provide a consistent explanation or refund the overpayment. (See Attachment)2. Hidden ************************ Upon attempting to withdraw from the program, after all "COA" fees were marked as satisfied (see attachment) in my portal, I was suddenly informed that I owed an additional $700. This amount was never disclosed in my account records and appears to be an arbitrary charge. Nowhere in my client portal is there any indication that I still owe this amount, yet ClearOne refuses to release me from the program unless I pay it.Resolution Sought:Immediate refund of the $531 overpayment to my creditor. An official and written confirmation of my withdrawal from their program, without a single dollar of additional fees, since all obligations were already marked as satisfied.Refund of my funds in my *************** account back to my checking account totaling: $324 Corrective action to prevent others from experiencing similar deceptive practices. If ClearOne Advantage does not take immediate corrective action, I will be forced to escalate this complaint to consumer protection agencies, state regulators, the ************************ (***), and legal avenues if necessary. I will also ensure that my experience is shared with others so that potential customers are aware of their predatory business practices.

I entered into a program with clearone in January of 2024. ***** ***** sold me a dream and due to the many stresses I failed to see this business of so called debt relief is a total scam. They have taken thousands from the monthly deposit for themselves, while paying my creditors bare minimum. ***** failed to state that Clearone would begin collected their multiple fees prior to paying my debt. I'm sure if they lead with that, ClearOne would not exist. This is a company that should be thoroughly investigated. I have made serval requests for various documents that I have yet to receive. I closed my account with ********************** 1/17/2025. *************** had approximately $1800 dollars in the account where my drafts from Navy federal were held. If my account is closed (I did receive a confirmation email), how can you still make any transactions after this date. When I asked where the funds went, I was told to attorney fees. I asked who authorized this and was told I did. When I asked for the consent form for this transaction I was given nothing. I am seeking legal action and I have reached out to the attorney generals office as well.

Signed up for debt relief for credit cards which were all current when I contacted them but was struggling financially. They were smooth talkers and said it would be settled within 2-3 weeks and would take 18 months to be paid off. I gave them permission to withdraw $675 a month from my bank acct because they insisted. Its been 4 months and creditors are calling and I have not been contacted or anything. by mail from *********. I called them and finally reached them and now its 30 months and more money. These are crooks and now its going to cost even more because I am 4 months behind so late charges and interest will have to be paid when I take my Accra back. I have read on BBB pages of complaints similar to mine and wonder how they could be listed with BBB? And not have criminal charges against them. My refit Union is familiar with them and put a stop to them withdrawing any **** money from my acct and I want my money back. How many years can they rip people off before you warn people that they are predators. Thats what I thought BBB was all about. I wont be looking up to see if a company is listed with BBB since that was the reason I chose them and feel I was led down the road of deceit.

Debt consolidation was promised, but we are still receiving collection calls and have had no resolution for several accounts after 18 months. Estimate of debt resolution is highly and grossly misrepresented. Services fees are outrageous. Would like to speak to someone who isn't just reading a script and can actually help. Also want to earn others not to use this service.

Over 4.5 years ago we encountered some financial difficulty and were approached n=by ClearOne Advantage. They told us that if we were unable to make payments on our credit cards and accounts due to our drop in income, they could negotiate settlements with our creditors, usually for half or less, plus a small fee to them and we would no longer be piling up interest and other charges and it would have much less negative impact on our credit showing payment in full of the rather than outstanding, late payments and settlements rather than charge offs. They explained that we would make one monthly, affordable payment to them and making that payment would be all we had to worry about. They said that sometimes settlements would take up to 6-9 months. At this time we were also paying on a $12,000 loan to our bank. We paid it off in the three years of the loan with only 2 or 3 slightly late payments. The problem is that Clear One Advantage took over four years to obtain settlements and while we made four years of payments to ClearOne, on time, we racked up four years of late payments and even some charge offs. Recently, one of our two cars need $3,000+ of repair work and although our credit report shows FAIR, the bank we have been banking with for many years would not even approve us for a $3,200 loan because of all the late payments over the four years as well as the charge offs that ********* consistently refers to as PAYMENT IN FULL, but the credit companies refer to it as a "Charge off." One of the accounts, *************************, was only for $1500 and that is the one that has posted four years of monthly derogatory statements. They only saved us a total of around $3,000 on the approximately $15000 original total owing to the card companies and other credit companies at the time we engaged Clear One Advantage. If we had know any of this we would not have contracted with them. We feel the sales pitch was extremely deceptive. My banker said we should make Clear One "fix" it.
