The billing department is 'bogus'!! I've been fighting them for months now! I am covered by ******** and ********, Suddenly started getting a bill. Calling them did to work - unable to get thru, recorded message to leave my number did not work. After many tries, finally reached a person - twice, Each time I was told THEY made an error in billing, had to refer me to another ***** Put on hold - they hung up. Bills kept coming, with increase (same routine checkup). I emailed countless times - no response. Filled in back of bill with letter and (unchanged) medical as per instructions on front f bill. No response. Tried a different phone on website - reached agent who said 'their error' and told me it was corrected. Bills kept coming. Had *************** (***) call them. 1st time, SWEC cleared the bill. Next bill came, unable to reach them.. previous # no longer in service. *** tried - was all unable. The bills also vary from $31 to $161 for SAME routine checkup!

I have found ************** Center to have underhanded patient practices and am very disappointed in my experience with them. Primarily, I was talked into buying a Premium Eye lens which turned out to be a Standard lens, confirmed by an Eye Associate of Santa Fe, N.M. Eye Doctor. As well, I learned that my ************* had covered the Standard Lens and I deserve to be refunded for the so called "Premium Lens" I bought on April 12th, 2024, In ********** , N.M. Additionally, the "Premium Lens" purchase, ultimately included SWE using some of the $450 signed for to pay for uncovered bills if any and overpayment of two after surgery office visits. My co-pay is only $35 each not $62.50. I deserve the office visits and Lens money back, as well, as proof of other surgery bills, because my EOB shows none, so I deserve that money too. That issue is under the No Surprises Act. To top it all off, Dr ******************** pinched my eye lid at the beginning of surgery, and when I asked "to blink my eye", he said " I was asking questions people don't ask "and made me sustain through the surgery. I am in my 7th week of eye irritation, having paid $200 in eye gels out of pocket and over $100 in Eye Doctor ****** at different ******** Facilities.Lastly, they deleted my emails, hid my receipts, said the left eye was operated on (it was the right eye), basically, eliminating the April 23rd surgery when I got injured by ************. This is corrupt!!To close, I am 75 years old and should be treated with respect and care. A major corporation like this, should not be playing underhanded games with our insurance and charging us for unfounded bills. You think you are untouchable because your good reviews are far beyond your bad ones, but always remember, every single negative review, is worth 1000 unsaid ones. I want my $450 back now. Being scammed by SWE is amoral!! Stop undermining and using your Senior Clients and over billing for unfounded services. You are being an example of Fraud.

While Southwestern Eye Center has good doctors and their office staff at the *************** Office and Outpatient Surgical Center were friendly and responsive. Their billing practices border on deceptive. I was told in my pre-operative financial meeting that in order to get the higher quality Toric Single Focus cataract lens, I would have to pay an additional fee for the upgraded lens. I was told the additional cost of the lens would be $3,000. As their billing computers were down for over six weeks, I was not able to get an itemized, detailed invoice related to this cost, even though I asked for it several times.I went forward with the surgery, believing that the only outstanding bill would be for the high quality premium lens. When the itemized bill arrived (after insurance had paid their share), I discovered I was not only paying for the upgraded lens, but Southwestern was tacking on additional surgeon and facility fees. The actual cost of the Toric lens, according to the itemized bill, was $800. Additional fees for the surgeon ($1,385) and facility ($840) were also added to the bill. Southwestern Eye Center was paid $2,323.90 for the 90 minute, out-patient surgery. The surgery to implant the Toric verses the standard cataract lens is the same. The amount of time it takes to do the surgery is the same. The skill needed by the surgeon is the same. The only extra cost should have been for the upgraded lens, which was $800. Southwestern Eye Center is not only charging a premium for the better lens, but they are double-billing patients for additional facility and surgeon fees. Patients need to be aware of these overbilling practices.

I have a progressive eye disease and was told to call the office and come in immediately if there were any changes in my vision. In the beginning of Nov. 2023 I noticed changes and called. I was given a Jan. 19th appointment in spite of telling the answering service that I should see my Doctor immediately. In December my vision in my right eye had deteriorated and I called again. I was given an appointment at a different office on Dec. 20th. By Dec. 18th, I had lost my central vision in my right eye and could only see a all-encompassing black area. I called again and was given an appointment in ******* on Friday, Dec. 22. After being seen there, they got me an appointment on Dec. 26th in ********** with my **** ************************* By now, I could not see the eye chart, the black area had increased and I was in extreme discomfort. Dr. ** said I had fluid and blood leaked into my eye and it had lifted the retina up. He started injection treatments then. I have nothing but praise for my Doctors, staff and the people at the front desk. But I am angry that an appointment and answering service kept me from getting the treatment I needed. I have lost my sight in my right eye and the ability to drive. This has impacted my quality of life! ************

Worst eye care center ever, the *************** office is horrible, it's dirty and smells. The staff there all have attitudes. I agree with another review in that it's all about billing for services.Having to deal with a call center that doesn't know what they are doing to make an appointment, without getting all the facts about hidden charges like an eye health exam that is billed to one's medical insurance not vision insurance. They don't want to do routine eye exams, I was even told this by ******** , office manager at the *************** office. She said " if you want a routine eye exam go to ******* or Nationwide Vision.Terrible customer service for the call ********************** to the clinics. Will never visit them again, they just lost three customers.**************** 9/17/23

Two weeks ago, my mother had a general appointment at ******************** office. During that visit, they conducted a battery of tests and recommended that she return for an evaluation of her eyelids by ****************. An appointment was scheduled for two weeks later, which we attended this morning.Upon arrival, a nurse proceeded to repeat the eye exams. I mentioned to her that we had already completed these tests just two weeks ago, but she insisted that the doctor required us to redo them. I attempted to discuss the matter with the office manager, who initially stated that they wouldn't need to redo all the tests, contradicting what the nurse and doctor had told us.I understand the importance of medical procedures, but it's essential to consider the inconvenience and costs, especially for elderly patients. ****************, if you require additional fees for your services, please communicate that transparently rather than subjecting elderly individuals to unnecessary tests. My experience with your office staff and their conflicting information has been disappointing.

This review is about billing and administration. My husband and I have traveled from ****** to Southwestern Eye in ******* for years. Our daughter highly recommended them as an employee. Every doctor we encountered was excellent and our eyes received great care. My husband recently had cataract surgery and we were quoted a price per eye. Our mistake was not getting it in writing. Never have we had that problem in the past. We were not billed what were were told, it was the entire amount. It seems someone made a mistake in quoting the cost before surgery. The company did not tell us, just billed us for the whole amount. Throughout the weeks following there have been discussions. We evidently agreed on half of what they wanted to collect, which was still more than we were originally quoted. Next bill received did not reflect that amount, it was more. Another lie. Whowever was involved made the mistake should be held responsible. The mistake was made in the ******* office and I have a feeling the wagons are circled to protect all those involved. The proper solution here is to admit the mistake and charge according to what we were quoted. Poor office management is not our problem. Sad to say this, the company is not what it used to be. The Doctors are still dedicated to providing the best care available, some, not all administrators are unethical. Patients should not be liable for an employee's mistake. This is an internal problem for the Company, not ours. We will also be filing a complaint with the BBB and leave the same review on other available platforms.

Way too much to list. If you have medical insurance, do not go here. They flat lied to me telling me my doctor was out of network. The amount they told me would be out of pocket does not make any sense. The surgery is $7,500.00 and they told me I would be out of pocket $600.00 when the doctor is out of network. I have a $750.00 deductible I have to meet also. I waited for 6 weeks to get an amount out of pocket, kept getting the run around, I finally have an appointment 3 days before my surgery. My appointment was at 2:30 and at 2:20 she called me and told me that my doctor was not in network. I was confused, I said don't I have an appointment in 10 minutes? She said yes. I said, you waited 6 weeks and call me when I am 10 minutes away from my appointment to tell me this. Please find somewhere else. There is more, but this is the worst of it.

at first they were pretty good but after explaining to them several times in person and via email that could not make an early morning surgery, do to the fact my driver was not available till after 10 am. I told them this several times and then they scheduled my surgery for 815 am I called them and asked why they said mis communication. I said NO I told you about my time frame many weeks in advance they said nothing they could do. so I had to cancel my surgery. Here I am after several weeks of appoinment with them doing all kinds of test and driving back and forth a half dozen time Im stuck with a bad eye that ***** and runs all the time

They are ALWAYS running late with their appointments. Excuse is they are short staffed. Very inconsiderate of people's time. If you don't have the staff to keep appointments on time, then don't overbook!!
