The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.
On February 15, 2024, Precision Patient Outcomes, Inc (PPO) and CEO Margrett Priest Lewis entered into a permanent injunction for a complaint brought against the defendants by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). (Case No.: 4:22-cv-7307-HSG).
According to the complaint, it is alleged that the defendants violated the Federal Trade Commission Act and COVID-19 Act by making unsubstantiated claims in addition to falsely claiming to have scientific evidence that their dietary supplements could treat, prevent or mitigate Covid-19.
It is also alleged that upon learning of the Commission’s enforcement against another company making similar claims, the defendants changed the name of the product from Covid Resist to Virus Resist and continued to advertise it as an effective treatment for Covid-19.
As part of the settlement, PPO and owner Ms. Lewis are banned from making Covid related health claims without having reliable scientific evidence supporting any such claim and they are required to notify consumers and resellers of the action taken by FTC.
