My 7-year-old daughter has been in level 2 gymnastics for two months, and one day, her coach, Coach ******, decided she was not ready for level 2 after all and told her to go to the level 1 class after warm-**** My daughter had no idea where to go or what to do. After I saw her wandering around and on the verge of tears, I asked the front desk what was going on. I spoke to coach ****** after with the gym manager, where she falsely claimed she had been communicating with me, the parent, for weeks about her lack of progress. Coach ****** then stated she had been talking to my daughter for weeks about it, but the coach never once mentioned it to me. She then said she tried to speak to me after classes, but that, again, was false because she never flagged me down. The manager then suggested we sign my daughter up for two classes a week to help, but when I told her my schedule wouldnt allow it, she said that was an excuse. The manager then asked if I would like to drop my daughter from the gym if I wasnt happy, and Coach ****** smirked happily at that suggestion. I don't mind my daughter being dropped down to level one; I only wanted proper communication from the coach and accountability for when she falsely claimed she had been talking to me for weeks. Also, the manager did not seem to care. At this point, I feel we are being discriminated against because we are Hispanic. I am very disappointed in the gym and this so-called coach. Winners gymnastics, don't leave it up to the children to relay your concerns, and don't push them away in the middle of class after they have been under your guidance for months. Allow the parents to explain to the kids why they are being dropped before the class begins.
