Life is busy, so you hope that when you make a sizable purchase on something like a building, with installation included, that everything goes smoothly, but that did not happen. From the time installation started this was a bad experience, and now two years later I am still reminded everytime I walk into this building that these guys had no business installing this building. By day two I realized that something was off with the crew. It seems that they were a newly formed rag tag crew, and turns out (info gathered from them) that they had never intalled a building on their own; even the lead guy on the crew had never installed a building on his own. They did not follow plans which caused the building to fail inspection. Their engineers certified plans with the requested skylights, but the skylights did not meet fire code. The company leaves it to the discretion of the installer whether or not to apply sealant at the base rail/concrete, which on mine they did not, so water literally poured under the walls during rain. There are screws stripped out all over the roofing and trim. And to this day, due to improper installation, the roll up doors jamb every time I use them. I work M-F and took time off to meet building inspectors, but taking extra time off becomes a problem when the building failes inspection. Now that I didn't trust the crew's abilities I needed extra time off to be present while they made corrections, and I also needed extra time off for re inspection. California All Steel's crew only did the bare minimum to pass inspection. I was still left with a terrible water intrusion problem, and doors that have never worked properly. During my year warranty period I repeatedly asked the company to come fix the remaining issues, and that I couldn't take anymore extra time off work to deal with their problems; meaning I needed repairs scheduled on a weekend, but they refused. Requests to escalate my problems were ignored, as were my requests to speak to the owner

Mr. ***** I am sorry that you feel that way about our company but we did try to schedule to send a crew back multiple times we have emails on file were you never made an attempts to take any of our appointment. In regards to all of the sub-contractors that we hire we require a minimum of 6 months experience, WC, GL before we sent any contractors to any of our jobs. In regards to seal the base rail we do not seal our buildings as stated on the order form that you signed when you placed the order and received it an completions. As per our company name the only materials that we use is steel. As per the inspection I showed that it was approved. We never refuse to address any of the issues you informed us you were the one that refuse and did not accepted any of the appointments that we emailed you. I believe that if your carport has any many issues as you say I would have thought you made some time to allow us to go back to your location. We have closed your file as completed after multiple attempts even after the warranty was expired. Thanks

If you have the misfortune to have dealings with this company I hope you read this first. I was connected with California All-Steel by a middle man company (Big Buildings Direct) who in the end acted honorably. As for Californis All-Steel the sales representative Maria T***** is more concerned with being right than clearly explaining the proccess to the customer and helping them through it. When I signed the contract with Big Buildings Direct, I explained the county where I live did not require engineered plans for the permit. My contract specified the snow load and wind speed requirements. After I finished my concrete slab I called to get on the schedule for install. I was informed I would have to sign a waiver stating the building would not be certified to meet the requirements of the county 30psf snow and 105mph wind unless I purchased the engineered plans. I had been told in writing by Big Buildings Direct that I would not have to sign a waiver to get the guarantee for snow and wind. Maria said they would not install the building without the waiver or engineered plans and that I couldn't get a permit without them. I got the permit one day later and sent a copy. Maria then proceded to argue with the planning department and told them they couldn't issue a permit without the engineered plans. The planner was very upset and explained in writing engineered plans were not required. He also told me Maria had some nerve trying to dictate to the county how to conduct their business. Maria even went as far as telling me she would have my project RED TAGGED. Thank God she cancelled my order. Big Buildings returned my deposit. I immediately found another company who made the proccess easy for less money heavier materials and the plans were included.

Mr. ******* congratulations on your installation! This is the email that I got as a "certification" by a building official which is unethical as an email does not certify a building and he told me about the requirements over a recorded line and that they needed to be purchased. This is also the reason that we did not proceed with the installation: “This email confirms that Asotin County Building Permit #***** for ******* ******* ** **** **** ***** ********** *** is for the entire construction of the project. The project involves a 28' x 40' metal accessory building. Further, Asotin County will not require a complete set of engineered drawings for the construction of this project. I trust this information is sufficient to complete this project. Karst R****** ****** County Building Official/Planner" What is a building permit? A building permit is authorization from a city or county giving permission to construct or build a project. Building permits are required for not only new construction projects but also renovation and remodeling projects. This means we can install a building but there is no certification so the building will be non-certified. Unlicensed companies will install anything (non-certified buildings) as they do not have the certification under the contractor’s board and the owner is probably taking full responsibility. Your main complaint is that he stated that no one explained the certification process to install a certified building. He mentioned multiple times that this was not mentioned to him when signing the order form with BBD. (BBD has an email chain stating otherwise so the customer was always aware). I have a recorded line where you state that this is only for the foundation. The permit paper that you submitted to BBD because we had to get it from them since you never sent it to us, as you knew this was not what you needed to certify the building. I personally took the time to call the county and speak to the inspector and he clearly stated on the recorded line that we sent you that this was only for the slab and not the building process, also that he made you aware that you needed certified pans by a licensed engineered to putt a permit for the building. You did not want to purchase the plans, instead you wanted to install a building illegally without the right certification and by skipping the process. California All Steel will not install a building without the proper certifications if you require permits in your area as this is illegal especially after agreeing with the inspector that we will only install as permitted. We gave you the option that if you did not want to certify the building as requested, we could do a drop off only as we are licensed and must abide by the contractor’s board.

Since California All Steel brought up ethics. The email from the building department never mentioned certification, It was simply to state what the permit was for and that engineered plans were not required by the county. You actually copy and pasted the entire four sentance email from the planning Department proving my point. What is unethical is lying about it and then catching yourself in the lie. Permit requirements are different in every state and county, as a business representative you should know that. I was well aware of all requirements and stated it several times verbally and in writing. What you still do not understand is the correlation between permits, engineered drawings and certification. Telling county officials how to do their jobs and that they are unethical is a prime example of your arrogance. You say I never sent you a copy of the permit, which I did, yet you have the pemit number, what the permit was for and stated you have talked to the planner and have him on tape. How did you know who to call? At the end of your reply you state the permit was only for the Slab. Did you forget the email from the planner you copied and pasted in the third sentance of you response which states the permit included a 28 x 40 building. Anyone who reads your response will know the meaning of unethical.

Mr. ********, I do apologize once again for your misunderstanding I did email your vendor to reach out to you I am assuming that he has not as of today. I will send you and email and highlight that everything that I am telling is it is your order form that you sign I can also send you a copy of the call recording of the time you confirmed the order prior putting you on schedule we confirm what you order and even then you never brought up anything about the gauge on the panels. Again all of this is a misunderstanding as we deliver and installed what you order and paid for. Have you research other carport manufactures and check what are the only 2 gauge that carport manufactures use?

BUYER BEWARE! This is the worst company ever! Scheduled to have 40' x 20' building installed at 1:00pm. Get called by installer at about 7:30am saying they are on their way over. I had to take a day off of work to accommodate them. They then proceed to put the building together with the most flimsy material imaginable. On my contract it states 12 and 14 gauge steel. No where does it mention them using 29 gauge steel. 29 gauge is paper thin, that's 0.0135 inches or 0.343 mm. No where on the contract does it state using 29 gauge material. This place is a rip off and I would never recommend or use them again. Very dissapinted Veteran.

I apologize for the misunderstanding that you had. In my files I show that you order a 20'W x 40L' x 9'H, vertical roof style garage, 12gauge frame with (1) 10'w x 8'H roll up door and (1) 36" x 80" man door. All of steel roof and siding is standard 29 gauge. As stated on your order form the FRAME GAUGE is 12ga but not the panels. Feel free to do some research on the carport industry and you will find out that 29 gauge is standard. Unfortunally the only gauge that we offer on the panels for the roof or siding is 29 gauge and 26 gauge if your city/county requires the 26 gauge to certified your carport. The 26 gauge has an additional cost. Again I apologize for your misunderstanding but your sales man should have explain all of this to you at the time of the purchase, CAS is the manufacture and we deliver and install what you as the customer and the vendor put together. We did confirm your dimensions, colors and gauges that you order prior putting you on schedule. We fulfill what you ordered.
