- Advertising Review:On May 17, 2023, BBB requested Flex Focus Glasses to modify, substantiate, or discontinue claims on their website (https://shop.topflexfocus.com/page/inter/7C1601FA#overview) that read: “Developed by top optical scientists”, “As Seen On…ABC News, DailyMail, LAD Bible, Insider, and Forbes”, and The website advertises mark-down prices without displaying an end date to the sale. Advertisers must be prepared to substantiate such claims per BBB's Code of Advertising.
BBB’s Code of Advertising section 9 Sales states: Retailers can advertise “sales” where they are offering a significant reduction in price for a limited period of time. At the end of the sale period, retailers can, in good faith, convert the sale price to a new regular price if they no longer claim savings. BBB’s Code of Advertising section 1 Basic Principles of the Code states: The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.
