have not heard back from anyone about my claim. made the claim 2 months ago and now havent had a returned phone call in over a month. want to know the status of my claim and what is going on. as i have now waited over 2 months to be able to replace my things or at least some of them that were in the broken in storage unit.Business response

This incidents originated on August 10, 2024, a month later here I am filing a complaint to the BBB. I arrived at my unit which I rent from public storage. These units are under the insurance policy of orange door storage. Ive called multiple time to my examiner, her supervisor, the hotline; when I can get a hold of someone to tell me theyll make notes of this on my file. These units are climate controlled, but I open my unit to major water seeping from the floor damaging almost $8,000 in items from clothes, electronics, collectibles, art, etc which I use for my second income. Most of these items I will not be able to recoup, or be able to salvage because of mold and smell. 9/13- I filed a new claim, because the exact same incident that occured on the 10th of August was happening again, with a whole new stock of items. Ive spoken more to hotline representative than my actual examiner/supervisor. This is absolutely stressful, a complete nightmare for individuals like myself trying to operate a private ************ looking through previous reviews, I can not help but to feel the exact same way other have.Business response

I paid for insurance for a storage unit through public storage. When I came to move out, I found water had been leaking into my unit and destroyed some mattresses and some damage to some other items. I told the manager who apparently knew there was a leak and I brought the managers assistant up to the unit to see the puddles of water. I was given a claim form. I have been calling and the number says they are closed. I tried to file a claim online and unable to because my access code isnt working. I emailed the company and the response was to call the number. The email states the phone number should be open 7 days 24 hours. I had to move and store the soaking wet now molding mattresses because the claim form says do not dispose of items.along with this issue, I paid $611 per month for climate controlled storage and the unit was in the 90s causing warping of wood items.Business response

I had $10,000 worth of items stolen from my storage unit.The thieves cut the wire on top on my unit went inside broke the lock from the inside and took everything.The manager said there was nothing he could do about it.Because there are no cameras inside the hallways.He said if he had any extra time he would look through the video to see if they had taken anything out the front door. I called the police and filed a report.The police explained they have had similar robberies at this facility. I have sent 15 emails to the company with photos of the cut wire, a police report and a full list of all the stolen goods.The police have retrieved some of my belongings but I have yet to receive any payment from the insurance I paid for.I know we are only covered to $5,000 minus the $100 deductible.Please have someone from this company contact me...Business response

I received a call 2/8/23 of a rodent infestation at public storage in ************ and once able to walk took pictures and discarded everything I had in there . Received a call 7/15/24 re: inventory list and was asked of belongings on storage I mistakenly said can goods which according to public storage and my list there was no food at all in my storage only household goods. Clothing bedding coats beds tus laptop printer etc 7/18/24 ****** from orange door insurance denied my claim because of food items which there was none in my storage. She called while I was cooking and had my list in draft in my email after disconnected I checked my email with no food listedBusiness response

On 5/19 we made a claim with them because we discovered after having our unit for a month that mold grew everywhere you can see the bugs and everything coming in . We made our claim and was told to take pictures and then get rid of everything . We took pictures and the storage place helped discard our items full of mold everywhere . We have yet to get a clear answer on whats going on with the claim . Our storage place did a walk through and deemed it there fault of water leak but we have yet to hear from insurance . We lost everything .Business response

This insurance owes me, *************************** compensation for stolen items that totaled up to ******* that were in my storage unit. My daughter, *************************** and my name is on the storage unit. My daughter explained to them that the things in the storage unit mainly belonged to me not her. The lock was cut off of the unit and it shows that in the picture I am about to provide you with. I filed the claim with Orange Door as directed in March and gave them all the proof and evidence they needed along with my police report they had me dealing with a representative name ******* who by the way was no help and just called me on today 06-12-2024 stating that they are denying my insurance claim because I couldn't show forceful entry when I had already provided them with the picture showing they cut my lock off of my unit and provided a police report so how is that not proof. It's funny how now they are all responding after I reached out to you all about their storage unit business as well. Please help me deal with this unprofessional insurance company that charges a fee but, doesn't stand behind the customer if they have their items stolen or damaged, if they are going to deny every claim then they shouldn't charge and Public Storage should find a better insurance claim Company. I have always kept my insurance paid so I don't understand what the problem is with compensation.Business response

claim # 4A2403MZ54D-0001.Submitted on March 20, 2024. The storage was infested with vermin. Items were thrown out due to bad vermin odor. Orange Door rejected our claim and is asking us to submit the pictures of the damage caused by odor. It is impossible to capture the odor in a picture. Insurance settlement should be made.Business response

My storage unit was broken into I filled a claim on 02/10/2024 and today is 04/172024 and I still havent received any payment and my unit was broken into by the public storage staff . Everything I own and worked hard for is gone..Business response
