Issue: I had a water leak due to my bathtub in Jan first week, ****. So, I called the Tri pointe Homes, home warranty department and send them the pictures and videos of the issue.Mistakes done by Tri pointe Home:1. In-accurate Diagnoses: The home repair team, cut open the Drywall for no reason and destroyed structural integrity of my drywall by doing an in-accurate diagnosis of the problem. No one asked a common-sense question of why the Pipe would burst on a Brand-new home and when I already reported that the tub had multiple cracks which were causing the leak.2. Timeliness: I agreed to cut open the Drywall because you have confirmed that you will call the plumber the next day and close the drywall after a couple days. Its been almost a week now and there is no technical reason to keep the drywall open as the plumber already confirmed there is no leakage in the pipes. And no one requires you to cut open the drywall for a tub repair or replacement.3. Health *********************** Due to open drywall which is next to the **/Heating Vent, when I turn on the Heater, there is no room for air to escape as it's contained and it would just blow out the entire containment, so I have to keep an opening on the containment. This results in all the Dust and other Debris from the roof entering my living area. And I have been having allergies for the last 4 days impacting my health and work. And the living room is getting cold due to the missing drywall and insulation, and we are living in cold temp as we cant turn on the heater to a comfortable temp as we are concerned that the ** went air pressure might blow out the whole containment; then we cant live in the house entirely. Even after repeated requests to close the Drywall opening, they are not closing it. This is being done just to harass me and my family without any validity or reason for keeping the drywall open. If BBB can take some action that would be greatly appreciated!

Tri Pointe and the tub manufacturer have completed the investigation, repair, and remediation of the reported leak, which was discovered to be a crack near the drain in the tub.  The manufacturer repaired the cause of the leak and Tri Pointe repaired all water damaged areas of the ceiling.  Tri Pointe considers this matter closed.

The craftsmanship is absolutely terrible. We were told we would have a second walk around before everything went out of warranty and never did. Our island has a hole in the wall that you have to bend down and see. PLUS THE WOOD WORK ISNT EVEN ALIGNED. Our island is misaligned. Everything is just failing. We purchased the Tri Pointe Homes at RiverTrail and moved in October. We invested a significant amount, over $14,000, in upgraded hardwood flooring. Unfortunately, the workmanship of the hardwood flooring was subpar, prompting Trip Pointe Homes to send the installer back for a redo. Despite the repair work being completed in November, one plank remains unstable, producing a squeaking noise when walked upon. We have notified Tri Pointe Homes about this issue and requested them to rectify it, as the repair did not resolve the problem and has instead created an unstable surface that poses a potential safety hazard. We want to emphasize that, if Tri Point fails to address and fix this issue promptly, we may have no choice but to consider legal action, including filing lawsuits, to ensure a satisfactory resolution

May 5th I provided a ******* deposit for a new build home by Tripointe homes. Over the course of the next few months Im asked for Solar deposit, and upgrade deposit. Given when requested bringing my total of deposits to $12,969. Home to be completed November 30th. I provided all documents required taxes, statements, business profit loss, etc. I get a conditional loan approval in July 2023. Conditions were executed, credit cards paid off, proof of incomes statements, etc. November 22nd was the date loan docs signed funded, November 30th we close I get my keys, move in. November 20th I get a call from ***** stating I need to provide and additional $20k to pay the *** for unfiled taxes. Due to the *** pushing filing date and casing their system taxes arent officially filed. Now Im instructed to pay the *** for unfiled taxes that arent owed or my loan isnt approved. ***** has had all my documents including the ones that were provisional awaiting to be filed since July. That is more than enough time to have notified me. An email sent to ***** Oct 24th asking to discuss any changes I may have to my taxes prior to filing to ensure there were no issues. Never got a response. Tax appt got cancelled and reschedule for November in hopes of getting answers. From Nov 20th in till Nov26th, I dont hear anything about my loan status. November 26th I get a call from ****** saying we will be sending a letter. Sign it and if you dont agree you can just send in supporting documents and a request for review.I get a docusign email with a letter saying Termination of Purchase cancel that was mutual. I declined to sign it because that is incorrect. Im not aware of the status of my loan why would I agree to that. I send an email to ***** on Nov 27th 7:25 am. Thats when I was informed the loan has been officially denied, in order to do it must be submitted to underwriting. Loan docs get submitted at 8:49 am on Nov 27th. Its a coincidence I get a cancellation by seller at 4:49pm stating I didnt provide documents or have the funds to close and they can retain the deposits. I had all of my closing funds and proof of required funds. The funds that were NEVER mentioned until the 20th. This is an unrealistic expectation ,and the letters timing was done in bad faith. Im learning 2 days prior to closing 1 week before Im to move that I have no home, have to figure out new living arrangements.

Tri Pointe kept half of my deposit. They failed to get me a loan. They refused my refund. Standard practices. I had no representation from there agent. No advise from personal. They lead me on for 9 months thinking I was good on my loan.

      Business Response

      Date: 12/06/2023

Tri Pointe Homes disagrees with the consumer's comments.  Tri Pointe worked with the consumer after his initial lender declined to fund his loan (for reasons that will not be shared in this response) and, at the consumer's request, amended the Purchase Agreement to allow the consumer to use another lender and postponed the estimated closing date.  Thereafter, when it was clear that closing would not occur, the consumer and Tri Pointe entered into written agreements to (1) terminate the consumer's Purchase Agreement and, (2) solely as a courtesy to the consumer, refund one-half of his deposits.  The consumer released all claims to the other one-half of his deposits.  Tri Pointe considers this matter closed.

I don't believe I was properly represented by agent. No advice no communication nothing showing any sort of care towards the purchase. She never mentioned loosing our deposit. She is also the one who ask us to find our own funding. Please look into this.  I'm sure it's happening to more families.

I never had any representation from TRI POINTE. When we first look in to the home the price was 697k. When it was finalized it was almost 800k . I never got any advice on intrest rates/ loan options/ all I knew was I was good to go. Till 3weeks before closing. They couldn't fund me cause of **** to racial. Ea suggested I look for my own funding. The lender needed more to close to which was denied by Tri Pointe. I want *********** back. If they need some *************** the waist of time they caused. We can negotiate a small fee.

My name is *************************, and I would like to file a complaint against Tri Pointe Homes in Arizona due to their poor customer service, substandard quality of ********************, unskilled labor, and the use of low-quality materials in the construction of my home. I purchased my home in September 2022 from Tri Pointe Homes (Lot # ***, ********* Domaine) after signing the contract in August 2022. The total purchase price was $1.28 million. At the time of closing, I reported several issues, and they acknowledged these problems and promised to address them promptly. However, to date, most of these issues remain unresolved.I conducted a one-year inspection report through a third party, which included all the previously reported items and identified new issues that require fixing. Despite spending a substantial amount of money, I am extremely disappointed with the quality of construction and workmanship. Despite multiple follow-*** over the past year, I have not received a satisfactory response.I have attached a list of the issues I reported to Tri Pointe Homes. I kindly request the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to investigate this matter with the builder and facilitate the resolution of all outstanding issues as soon as possible."

We closed on our home with Tri Pointe over a year ago and until today, we still have a cabinet door that is owed to us. This was an outstanding issue from before we even closed on our home. Various attempts were made to deliver to us a cabinet door, and each time, the door delivered is of a different color than the rest of our cabinets. To date, this is still outstanding with no resolution in sight. One year of living in the home we get a leak from our roof. We call emergency services and they eventually send someone out to inspect the roof during which they discovered broken tiles. Broken tiles were replaced but we were told to have someone check the ceilings to make sure there are no additional leaks. We call TriPointe for this. Never heard back on the topic. During our 1-year inspection we found several dry wall cracks. Tri Pointe schedules someone to fix them. No show twice. We have a light switch that is supposed to be "smart." Doesn't work. Electrician has come twice to fix it. Can't figure it out. Today, we were not home and Tri Pointe customer service shows up to our home unannounced, rings our doorbell and after realizing no one is home, proceeds to enter our yard along with a crew of people. All we can do is watch from our Ring camera as at least five men walk around in our backyard without our consent. Our customer representative's supervisor is supposed to get in touch with us, but to this day, this **** person is an enigma as we've never heard from her. We've tried calling her but all you get is voicemail which she never responds to. If you want the experience of purchasing a brand new home to not only be devoid of any joy, but ultimately turn into a never-ending nightmare, then Tri Pointe is the builder for you.

Tri Pointe Homes has and will continue to address warrantable items in the consumer's home.  Regarding the specific items identified in the consumer's complaint, Tri Pointe responds as follows: (1) Cabinet door Tri Pointe has experienced ongoing challenges in obtaining **************** parts from cabinet manufacturers in many communities. Based on representations from the manufacturer, Tri Pointe expects to have the cabinet door issue resolved by mid-December 2023.  (2) Roof leak Tri Pointe will evaluate the home's ceiling for discoloration and has scheduled a moisture reading for November 10, 2023.  (3) Drywall cracking repairs have been completed.  (4) Smart switch inspection/evaluation scheduled for November 17, 2023.  (5) Backyard during an evaluation of a block wall issue at the consumer's neighbor's home, a Tri Pointe representative and the block wall crew wanted to determine if the block wall issue was affecting the consumer's property.  They were provided access to the backyard by a person who was at the consumer's home (a housekeeper).  Tri Pointe apologizes for any confusion and inconvenience.  Tri Pointe can provide status updates on the open items if necessary.  Otherwise, Tri Pointe considers this matter closed.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 11/30/2023

This is a follow-up to a complaint which I previously submitted regarding ongoing issues with our new construction home in *********, including an item that has been outstanding since before we moved into our home, over 15 months ago! Tri Pointe responded to each of the items I listed out detailing scheduled times for when each item will be addressed. It then concluded their response by stating they consider the issues resolved as resolutions have already been scheduled for each one. Well, electrician who was scheduled to show up today, didn't show up. Updates on our cabinet door? Nothing. The fact that Tri Point considered these items resolved prior to ACTUALLY delivering solutions is absurd and speaks to level of commitment Tri Pointe has towards actually meeting its obligations. ZERO. They just want the complaints to go away without actually doing anything. For further clarity, this isn't the first time Tri Pointe has promised resolution and nothing came about from it. Our cabinet door for example is probably on it's 10th attempt at being resolved. Numerous contractors have also been no-shows in the past. If you owe someone service and you tell them you're going to perform but you haven't actually done anything, should you consider the service obligation fulfilled? Well, I guarantee you Tri Pointe does. News flash - promises mean nothing without actual delivery.
