I owed the *** 14k so I contacted Taxrise and explained my situation. I paid the $375 and they got back with me a couple weeks later and said they could get my total lowered since it was my 1st time owning the ***. 8 or 9 months go by and they finally had a resolution. At this point I owe 16k due to interest,they told me that the resolution was that they got me a payment plan for 236 a month...I told them I could've done that myself,not 1 time did these crooks ever tell me that there is a chance that my total would not be lowered. I told them that I need my money back since technically there was no resolution,a payment isn't a resolution. I could've done that my self and saved 5k. I get a letter from the *** about this resolution and it clearly states that all they did was put in a installment agreement application. These people are crooks and need to be put out of business. They sell dreams that turn into nightmares...I just want my money back because the job they claim they did was not done.Business Response

After reviewing ********************** case we did find him the best resolution for him at the time which happened to be an installment agreement. I spoke with the client and due to him having a change in employment he may be eligible for a redetermination. I signed on with Tax Rise roughly 2 years ago. All of my documents were supposedly filed in October 2022. I did not hear from the company for six months. I reached out several times and did not receive a call back for another few weeks. I was told every time I asked if my debt will go down and I was told it would because thats what they do. They negotiate a smaller amount thats due. I get a letter from the *** saying Im supposed to start paying $1900 a month for 73 months starting on June 28. I heard from Tax Rise a week later with no real explanation except I owe $105,000 now because of all the fees and interest but when you calculate the amount of payments Im doing it comes to $138,000. I was told initially it would be $13,000 for Tax Rise to work on my debt. I financed the first $7000. They did not negotiate a lower price and in fact its ****** more than what I currently owe. I got no explanation from the person that called me except I have too much disposable income, and I dont know what to do. I take care of my mom after she had a horseback riding accident so Im using that disposable income to help her out. This was something they clearly could have seen when I initially submitted all my paperwork and tax returns. I feel like they took my money for two years And did very little to help with my *** debt.Business Response

Taxrise sold me on reducing my taxes to less than 1000 dollars. They asked for upfront payment if 4800 dollars. Their final resolution was to pay the liability in full. I want to get my money back, full refund minus tax return fee.Rate 0 if 5.Business Response

I contacted our client ************************* on 6/11/24 and provided an overview of his case. After looking over his case we concluded that we completed all of the services agreed upon in our contract. After reviewing ****************** case I was able to audit his conversations with his agent. We understand that these calls can be very long and it may be difficult to remember everything that was discussed. Per their call we explained to ************** that we negotiate with *** on our clients behalf in order to reduce or eliminate tax debt and explained our both of our fees for our services. We explained that we try and get the best resolution possible based on the individuals unique financial situations and what the *** will agree to, in this instance that resolution happened to be the lowest possible installment agreement. ************** was in contact with a case manager throughout this process in order to answer any questions or concerns the client might have as well. We went over the services we would be providing to ************** including a 2021 tax preparation a tax investigation and have fulfilled those services.Initial Complaint

Greetings,Whomever receives this complaint- please know that I have no problem paying for services rendered, even if the services do not meet my expectations... this however, is not the case with Taxrise. They have done NOTHING except steal my money.My issue started after calling them for two business days straight- and no one answered any of my calls; (these are the three phone numbers I was given): A representative named "Lauren" ************** A general phone number **************, and The support number: ************* (In fact, I tried to call them today- and no one answered the numbers-- they immediately disconnected)This agency preys on the desperation of people who are seeking assistance with their tax issues. They offer to resolve your *** issues for ******, only to bait you into spending more money. They are not upfront about the true cost of their program, and at that point- they did not make themselves available during business hours. (Two full business days to be exact!)By the time they returned my call, I was so upset-- I felt I could not trust them with such a sensitive issue as my tax issues. I sought out another agency to assist **** disputed this charge with my bank- but because I paid initially and signed Docusign papers they claimed to have fulfilled their duty to me. They did not, in fact, no information could be attained from the *** without MY completion of documentation- which I DID NOT COMPLETE. How can they do any work on my file without my information???This is a preditory agency that needs to be examined thoroughly- and if necessary prosecuted to the highest degree for their preditory and unsavory business practices.Bottom Line: They performed no service to me and refused to return my payment. I contacted Tax Rise, as a back up company to resolve some tax issues I have. I was told that I had a certain period of time to. I contracted with them in the 18th of May. On the 20th of May, I started contacting them to cancel, I called them and left messages on several peoples phones and the customer care number and never received a phone call back until the 30th around 2.30 pm. Tax rise customer care department told me that they would issues a credit since I had left messages for several days up to then and that they were sorry no one had returned my calls. The. Today 6-3-2024 I get a phone call from another lady that said they didnt have a record of these calls and I would not get a refund because I didnt cancel with the cancellation period. Thats ******** I started leaving messages on May 20th. It seems fraudulent to me that they make statements like we will move you to the front of the line but cant tell me exactly what other fees I will be charged.I have read other horror stories about this companies practices and complaints with the BBB It also feels deliberate to me that they dont respond to you and cant find a record of your attempts to reach them to cancel until after you cancellation period expires. So its apparent that this is a blatant process to steal from the consumer because now I am told they wont refund my money.I did my part and now they dont want to refund my money. But I have a voice and I know how to use it. And I will file complaints everywhere I can think of because people need to be warned about how these people operate. This feels like a scam to make $375 off of unsuspecting consumers and the older consumers especially!I made several phone calls from May 20th to May 31. They are just choosing to rip me off. Which I guess I fell for.Please help me seek the refund, I did dispute it with my bank as well and sent them copies of the emails and a copy of my call log and recordings that I have leaving messages.Business Response

I see that Ms. ****** signed up for services on May 17th. After this date, I am not seeing calls or voicemails from the client in an attempt to cancel. I do see the next communication was on May 30th when she spoke with a member of our *********** team. However, I want to ensure we do our due diligence to check all resources. Within last 2months Tax rise called me that they can take care of my irs and Ftb. Taxes and consultation is free but there is retainer fee of $500. I gave them $500. They got from Irs and Ftb my last two two years of my record in which I did not file on paper, the tax return, but I gave sincerely Tax 2001,2022&2023 (I gave little more than20k to irs each year &***** of Ftb for each year,but could not file on papers because of my sickness.they told me I own total taxes of 111k to irs About Ftb taxes they did not mention a single word .They will negotiate with irs and total I have to pay 3600$over the three years and you will be done with irs They quoted there fee of 18k,which I can pay in installment over three years (tax included)This deal looked me very unrealistic Tomorrow and I. Refused their service.When I asked my 500 back they say it was for three years of transcript and advise they gave me .I told them per you consultation was free and my 500$will go toward the contract if I. Sign the contract which I did not sign and about Ftb taxes they did not say a single word which you promised to solve my irs &Ftb problems They told me that they will submit my file to quality control and they will be in touch with me in 24hours They did not contacted me I send twice text which they did not answer me and took my 500$,even their add as well as them told me consultation is free .They did not say a single word about Ftb .In the beginning I was told they will take care of both Ftb and irs more They should give me my 500$ back.I do not have any contract with themBusiness Response

I paid ****** and spoke with a gentleman who stated we needed to pay an additional ****** per month for the settlement. I advised I am already on a payment plan with the *** for ******. I contacted tax rise to help me with a outstanding *** debt. After being contacted many times and told that they could absolutely erase my debt after 5 years with the *** I agreed. I gave a total of $2,200 in upfront fees. Once I had finally finished paying off all the upfront fees they told me that my final plan would not only include those upfront fees but cost me $12,000 in payments over 6 years to erase a $9,000 tax debt. This made no sense to me and when I asked for the upfront fees back they refused.Business Response

They supposedly advertise their money back guarantee **************************************************, somehow that doesn't apply to when I cancel just few days after paying 375$ fee for the whole process (as advertised). I request a refund and they said that 375$ was just for the initial investigation that was already done and won't be refunded. They said I'm supposed to get a refund if no resolution to my debt is made at the time of at the time of buying in the service, in contrary of what's happening now. So in the end they don't uphold their own publications, which falls into false advertising and be eligible to be sued in court for that. This is a scam company that prey on vulnerable people who's already in debt and desperate enough to take any chances of salvation. ***** to be the people who got baited into the advertisement and don't read the reviews of people who got scammed ahead of them.Business Response

Filling of Form 8821 - Tax Information Authorization to obtain privileged tax information, obtaining the Clients tax transcripts, reviewing and analyzing the Clients tax transcripts to determine their compliance status and the extent of their tax liability (if any), and determining a resolution plan for the Clients situation, if the Client owes a tax liability or is not compliant.
I have put in a request for a member of our team to follow up with the client to ensure the outcome of this process has been disclosed as well as review the case to see if the client qualifies for a refund or any concessions.
