            My grandmother just passed away. On revieweing her bills, we found that the Long Beach Press-Telegram was charging her 5 times the posted (non-promotional) rate for subscription, apparently banking on her not noticing the gouging. She died a few weeks into a 26 week prepay they had given themselves, so we called to cancel and get a prorated refund. Their reply was "I'm sorry there's nothing we can do" -- quite the cop out.             This newspaper company has been charging my 87 year old grandmother over $1400 for a year subscription while my other grandmother is paying $600 for the year despite them both having this newspaper plan for the same amount of time and living within a mile of each other. They are extorting old people out of their money and taking advantage of the elderly. This is pure abuse and is unacceptable. When we called, they told us they refused to drop the prices and were not accommodating at all. This is NOT how you treat the elderly who have been a customer for decades! Absolutely disgusting! I would post the pictures of the bills which I have but there is no spot to attach photos. I am deeply disturbed by this newspaper company and feel terribly for my grandmother who is on a fixed income, is deaf, battling health issues, and can no longer leave the house. So so disgusting.
