This business should not be allowed to operate! The primary reason is for its ethical standards, or lack thereof. Over the last two years, I have used this company to create my nonprofit organization's website and to maintain it. From the start, this organization was extremely difficult to work with (the website took 5 months!) and didn't seem to care or have any sense of urgency on doing a thorough job for me or my nonprofit organization. Because of this initial poor experience, one of my board members filed a complaint to which the person I was working with began harassing her to take down the review (UNETHICAL!). He was only concerned about his job and not anything she had said as far as the poor service. Fast forward, I start receiving phone calls literally the day before I supposedly need to renew my hosting platform for the year and the certificate. I'm not a coder, and I don't build websites, but to me, all this seems suspicious. I don't get invoices or advanced notice - Just sudden phone calls from this company saying I owe them money. I have requested changes to be made to my website which have taken excessively long to be made. When I make payments to them, I make it to unknown, third party on ****** (also suspicious). In 2024 alone, I paid $249 (again, I was notified last minute by a phone call) to renew my website platform and then American Web Coders came back and said I need to pay at least $399 for a year of security, which I didn't have to pay before, and they acknowledged that! When I said I would have to look elsewhere for security because of the price, they asked me what I could do, and I said $50, which they then accepted. This is extortion! On 7/16/24, I went to my organization's website only to get a message that says "Account Suspended". I contacted them on that day and last week (to which I let them know I would be taking further action)- No response. My site still is down! I want my money back, so I can invest in a reliable website org!

Company consistently makes false statements about cost to build a fully functional website and then demands more money in order for it to function properly. Now that Im cutting ties they are holding my website hostage and refuse to provide the credentials and intellectual property. I have a contract stating these items belong to me. They are asking for another $1,000 to provide that info but I believe its a last effort to get more money and not provide the information. Ive consulted experts in the field who believe they likely didnt pay their server hosting fees and are trying to collect as much money as possible before closing their doors. Something is seriously off with this company. This hosting migration came out of nowhere and no industry expert agrees that migration comes out of nowhere.

Very simple. Our ********************** bought a domain and design services from company A. We then paid for the transferral of domain and a new design from AWC. After a initial design (wordpress site, not much customization other than heavy plugin-installation and use) we were asked to pay for "a lifetime" of support. Later they told us we are on a shared server and that the server ran out of space. they then proceeded to suspend and then delete our ****** workspaces mailboxes claiming space limits (even though these mailboxes are on ****** servers) They told us our wordpress and php versions are out of date and we need to PAY for these to be updated (on the shared server...) They told us our SSL certificate expired and we need to upgrade to TLS, based on their correspondence and "urgent recommendation from the ***** (which is just a regulatory agency and doesn't correspond with anyone) We asked for delegate access back to our OWN domain, and never got it. They tried to extort us for services in order to regain access to our domain; asking for another "lifetime support" payment, this time on a "dedicated server".So we were repeatedly lied to, gaslit and misled in order to pay for ill-defined services and constant upgrades. It seems to be a company of 80% sales and 20% tech. When their clients don't pay them for a while, they invent new urgent services.

I paid for a website that is not finish properly. There are error and mistakes that need to be fix. I have been trying to get this issue resolve for over several months and still no response. I requested my credentials so I can hire someone else to *****************. No luck on that neither. Furthermore, every two months they call me asking me for money and put the website down. At this point, I realize that they are scammers. I want my money back.

I acquired the service of American Web Coders back in October of 2022. I requested a shopify Ecommerce website to be built, instead they pushed for a WordPress site to be built instead. The request was for a fully automated website, that never materialized. Needless to say, the website is not functional, and I had to hire new developers from a different company to revamp the website. American Web Coders is no longer answering calls, The developers that was working on my site, or either no longer working for the company or they are on leave. I sent a certified letter to the company explaining my concerns, which was returned. This is one of the worst companies I ever encountered, I lost more than $6,000 behind this company.

I engaged AWC to build my shopify website in 2022 and they did. My account manager upsold me annual maintenance in March 2023. I was notified in May that my account manager had left the company. In June my new account manager *********************** phoned me and tried to upsell me search engine optimization. I told him no and that I needed some work done that was covered under my annual maintenance plan. ****** said I didnt have annual maintenance and requested that I send him proof of payment. I forwarded my receipt from AWC biling department dated 3/20/23. Now ****** refuses to answer phone calls, texts and emails. I have contacted AWC billing group, sales and general information and all refuse to respond to my requests. At this point NO WORK has been performed on my website since payment of my maintenance plan on 3/20/23

This company first sold me what I thought was a new website, but turned out to be just a "revamp" of an existing website, then submitted a beautiful redesign as their first communication with me. When I said I loved it, they informed me that it was not included in what I had purchased... so I gave them more money... Once they finally got around to building my new website, they kept modifying images I sent them to use, so the end result was horrid and ugly and very slow. When I got on the phone to request changes, they told me I would need to spend another $1200 to get my own hosting platform if I wanted the website to upload faster and they provided another version of the website which was ugly in a completely different way. No matter what they offered in the beginning, the result was always ugly and needed more money to make it better. By the time they told me I needed my own webhosting, I called GoDaddy (A+ BBB rating) and was told I absolutely did not need anything like that for my simple little website. I contacted AWC and asked for a refund since I now had proof they had been lying to me and still did not have a usable website after spending over $2000. They offered me a $500 refund... I did not want to pay them $1500 for torturing me with my website for 2 months, so I am working with my bank to get my money back. Reading all the other complaints, this seems to be their normal way of doing business... this complaint will bring their total complaint up to 20, all for the exact same scam... never hiring anyone without checking BBB rating again!
