The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below:
On October 11, 2022 the United States of America and Sutter Health and its affiliate Sutter Bay Hospitals (Sutter Health) entered into a Settlement Agreement. Sutter Health agreed to pay $13,091,452 to settle allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by billing the United States for toxicology screening tests performed by outside labs. The Settlement Agreement is neither an admission of liability by Sutter nor a concession by the United States that its claims are not well founded.
