1 starWas told I had to make a down payment which was for 6 months then a monthly payment of *****. I have been making payments for over 2 years and was told my payment would be increasing. I was told. I've received anything showing balances or anything. I now have a creditor who apparently has my loans now. If I'm making monthly payments then how does another debt collector have them now?Review fromShelby F.

*Misleading*I was contacted back in 2019 consistently by Student Loan Movement stating the government had limited funds to reduce student loans. explained I was already on a income driven repayment plan/ deferment. They told me that with this program all I had to do was pay a down payment of $150 then $30 a month, for x amount of months. What ever amount is left over unpaid at the end would be null. I thought this was a legit Goverment program..., especially since they accessed my Student Loan Accts, and knew more information about my loan then I did. I had some financial difficulties around COVID and called to see if I could defer a payment. Especially since all student loan payments were deferred at that time due to the pandemic.. I was told if I didn't make the payment then everything I had paid up into that point would be lost... at that time it was already a few thousand dollars... I struggled and paid it. I have had them take the payment out without my consent before the due date, I seen information about how you should never have to pay a fee for these services and called questioning the legitimacy of this program, when I asked to cancel. Was threatened again with having to pay the whole amount of my loan loosing the $ I have already paid, that my payment would be $198 instead of the $30 I'm paying to them to keep me in this program now. Also not one dime has ever went to my loan at all. Please do not be bamboozled like I have. I could of really used the money that I struggled to pay them.Student Loan Movement

Hi ****** - Thank you for the feedback and the kind words in your online forum review. We appreciate the perspective and the opportunity to address your concerns and look at our own policies/procedures. After reviewing your file, it is apparent that on multiple occasions, you sent written correspondence pleading with us to continue assisting you and not to cancel your program as you were unable to afford a payment of $30 per month. You had even stated "I did not request to cancel the program.......I do not want to have to do this on my own...." To us, that is an indication that you knew or acknowledged this was a service AND that you just did not want to maintain or try to figure out the minimum and sometimes involved or difficult to navigate program requirements on your own. This all could have been handled over direct communication, as we are always available with a team of representatives via phone, chat and email Monday through Friday from 7A-6P PST. We understand though, you just wanted to voice your opinions and be heard in a public forum - it just feels better. We get it. Per your disgruntled review and your phone call earlier today, we have terminated your program and you are free to maintain your own program and navigate the requirements independently. It was a pleasure assisting you and we wish you the best of luck moving forward.Shelby F.

Thank you for the feed back but unfortunately your information is not 100% accurate. It sounds good, but not accurate. I only had few email correspondence and that was due to payment issues. I called and expressed my concerns over the phone 3 times. The last and final call right before I wrote this complaint and realized that your not even accreditedwith the BBB . I was threatened first with cancelation, loosing every dollar I paid out, by email. Because the payment was returned. So yes I did at those times of email, confirm I did not want to be canceled. I also in those emails along with the phone calls explain my financial burdens. I believe in one of them I was explaining about the problems with the unemployment that my husband was receiving due to the pandemic. It was giving us problems claiming the weeks. (at that time, like most the years I payed you. I was not employed.) That was in June of 2021. I had never missed a payment up until then. Everything was good as long as I was making the payments.. pretty much every Email I received from yall were threatening cancelation even though I expressed my financial difficulties..This is when in fact I started looking into this program bc the Government had stopped all loan garnishment, payments and intrest.. and started the CARES act to help people like us. I don't need yall doing something that I had already done and can do for myself. Like I stated previously... I was unaware I was paying yall to do this for me. I thought I was paying towards my loan in this special program... yall were very misleading, and are taking advantage of loan borrowers who are already having financial difficulties paying off their Student Loan debt. I have every Email conversation, text message I had sent so please do not try to sugar coat your deceitful treachery.Review fromAndrea B.

Definitely a scam that I'm stuck in currently. I'm paying THEM ***** per month for what? Nothing. The whole time loans have been on hold they have still collected their money, I have no way to cancel their "service" and they keep locking me out of my student loan accounts. They have never gotten me approved for the *** Forgiveness but keep asking for the SAME paperwork I've sent them 100 times. Stay away from them!! I'm working to figure out a way out.Student Loan Movement

Hi ******. Thank you so much for the feedback. Great news! You just earned yourself a way out of the program - no need to figure anything out. We have canceled your program and canceled all pending applications. Unfortunately, after playing back the recordings of the calls you have had with our representatives and reading the emails you have politely corresponded with, you never mentioned anything about cancelling and were sweet as pie and cordial. Now, in a public forum, behind a monitor and computer, it is very easy to be a troll and an internet warrior. You are, or were, in fact, approved for the **** program and you have not sent in the information 100 TIMES. You have sent the documents 3 times. WHY? Because this is the 3rd year we have re-certified your program and your **** eligibility every one of those years. You must, therefore, WE must on your behalf, submit the documentation every year in order to certify your employment with a qualifying employer or entity. All you had to do was ask to cancel one time. It is not rocket science to discontinue the service and you were never stuck. You just do not know how to do or navigate any of this on your own and you are afraid you may mess it up, fall short and not qualify. Well, here is your shot - your turn to turn your trolling and internet warrior reviews with CAPS into a success story. Go get 'em tiger.Rest assured, your program is now canceled and you are free to navigate your loans and these programs on your own with all your free time and continue to be a "*****" and attempt to libel our or other organizations that you encounter from behind a monitor. If you go on line in the future, provide facts and do not use false narratives. We wish you the best of luck and truly hope you can figure all of this out on your own.Review fromJanee W

Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns and sincerely regret you feel this way. Had you of called, instead of sent a vulgar and profanity laced email and text messages to our representatives, we could have discussed this further. It was probably just easier to go online though and whine about it.Did you fail to acknowledge or mention that when you enrolled in this program you were busted up, making pennies and in default - your credit was affected and they were taking or threatening to take your income tax returns and garnish your wages? Was that just accidentally omitted or were you not wanting to paint the entire picture?Do you recall, on recorded lines, calling in, at your wits end, scared of getting money taken from you that you needed for your baby and pleading for help with your loans, to get you out of the mess you created? Now, 3 years later, your loans are all new, consolidated and sparkling. Your credit is showing current entries and on time payments. But now, we are thieves? For leading you to a better place. So quickly we forget, huh?And then you send us messages about our "Mammy" and "Momma"'s and then what you want to do to them?Vile, but conveys what type of individual and human you truly are. Thank you again for the review and we truly hope you get some kind of help, from some where. Student loans are definitely not where I would start.....Best of luck.Review fromAmanda J

This is nothing but a scam and Ive been paying these people since 2019. I called to look into it one day when I was informed by my student loan provider that this is a scam and they advised they would have a manager call me in reference to this. I have yet to hear from anyone and now when I call it advises that the number has blocked the call from being made. I had to call my bank and report this and they are opening a fraud investigation on this. Stay away !!!!!Student Loan Movement

We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns, ********************. We have your address as *****************************************************, and your phone number as ************. After reviewing your file, we see that SLM was able to successfully get you approved for an IDR program in 2019, then re-certified for the same program to maintain your eligibility in 2020 and 2021, just as were contracted to do. We also see that per the SIGNED documents, soliciting, requesting and agreeing for us to assist you, you also opted for the monthly payment option, instead of the one fee per year. These were the terms you requested. You requested for our assistance because you had no clue how to do this on your own or get qualified. Per your recorded call, you were in a full repayment program since you dropped out and quit at **************** in 2012 where you failed to complete your studies. You borrowed $14,250 in 2011 and 2012. When you enrolled in the program with SLM in 2019 you owed $20,628. That means that between 2012 and 2019 your balances went up by $6,378, on top of the payments you were making to your loans. Per the recorded call in 2019, you were so frustrated because nobody was helping you and you had no idea what to do or where to turn, but you knew you had to stop the bleeding and get qualified for an Income Driven Repayment program, so that you could put some sort of light at the end of the tunnel. You did not know how to do that yourself because your loan servicer was misguiding you, misinforming you and taking advantage of you. You requested for our assistance - we helped you get qualified for a $0 program and keep that program current, re-certified and eligible for any forgiveness you may be entitled or qualify for. For this you agreed, verbally and in writing to pay a fee for those services and to keep you aligned with the benefits. You were never obligated to remain in the program and you opted to cancel the services. Now that you have voluntarily opted to terminate the service, we are no longer contractually obligated to provide that said service to you. What this means is that moving forward, you will be required to complete your own timely and detailed documentation on your own behalf and stay on top of the loans yourself, or that same "student loan provider" you called and was so sweet and informative to you, they will deceptively remove you from this program and require you pay the loans in full. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and wish you the best of luck in navigating these loans on your own moving forward. Best of luck to you ********************.
