Negative 5 stars! I did alot of research to tap into my equity. I applied with Point and things were going really well. Of course it was an instant hard hit on credit but that's to be expected. All paperwork in and things look good. Appraiser came out and did his appraisal. Notes that it's an average home with NO DAMAGE! Now, I get the appraisal by email and at the same time get a denial email stating my home "Unacceptable property condition due to deferred maintenance or outstanding repairs".I inquired about this and they tell me certain photos show water stains on ceiling and the appraiser said it was from roof damage. Well I contact the appraiser and he states that was not what he said. He told them it was shadows from window coverings. Any idiot who knows anything about pictures taken on sunny day there will be shadows. I retook same pictures immediately and sent to them and I hear nothing back except for me to pay to have roof inspected and certified and I could reapply! Why would I do that when there is NO damage! Appraisal clearly states NO damage! These people are skeevy and do not know shadows from water damage. And my house came in 200 grand more than I owe and within range of other home values around me. If there was roof damage and ceiling damage in different rooms I believe that would have been noted and taken off value. These guys are idiots steer clear of this company. I will tell anyone to stay away from this place. More websites to find in hopes of steering people away from these idiots.

my mother fulfill every requested task, but she doesn't speak English so I was translating all the information for her, she understood all aspect of the application. Point made me sent a Power of Attorney and filled out some third party agreements. At closing time, they denied my mother because she doesn't speak English which I think is discriminatory and racist. My mother is a citizen of the United States of America but she's 77 years old so she's not proficient in English language since she came to this country in her later years

Let's get to the Point, my experience with them was Fantastic! The customer service I received from everyone involved, especially *****, was exceptional! This is a trustworthy company. I appreciate all the steps they took to make sure I completely understood all of the terms and processes. Thanks to the Point HEI Loan I just received, the only debt I now carry is my mortgage. Even my car is paid off! I can now enter into retirement with confidence and the satisfaction of knowing my income is no longer going towards interest on loans, credit cards or a car payment.

This review is not deserving of any stars.I do not recommend doing business with this company.Although I submitted all the paperwork requested and had my home appraised, almost 90 days later, my loan still has not closed. Instead, I received a request from Point to resubmit my mortgage statement, resubmit evidence of home insurance, and give permission to re-pull my credit because so much time has elapsed since they pulled it the first time. Weeks would go by without me hearing from them and it was literally impossible to contact them via the phone as you will only receive an answering machine.Frankly, I have become quite concerned with the legitimacy of this company and what they will do with my personal information. It makes me wonder if all of the delay is due to trying to find investors to invest on a case-by-case basis. If I had to do it over I would not have applied with this company.

Wish I could do NO stars! This company has royally screwed me over. I was under the impression of 5-7 weeks process. Well when I applied August 7th, and it is now November 8th, thats a lot longer than 7 weeks. But the kicker is I got a denial email yesterday, November 7th..,AFTER I got everything done, everything they asked for, paper work, appointments, all of it. Everytime I logged back on to the website, there was a new task that I needed to get done for my process to get complete. I even accepted the offer and then still had tasks that needed to be completed. I kept being told they were having a hard time appointing processors to each case because they had an overload of applications all at once. My husband kept questioning it, if it was really going to happen as our credit scores just kept dropping, missing mortgage payments because we were counting on this loan. I had a phone call two weeks prior to my denial email, stating we were just days away from getting our money! This company is a joke! Im actually so upset that I believed them every time they told me we were going to be all set and we would have that money asap! I hope no one else goes through this! Do not waste your time!!!

If I could give a zero star I would. I started the process, and agreed to an initial offer. I also provide the many and varied documents they asked - one or two at a time over the course of several weeks. The appraiser finally came and while I thought the appraisal was a little low, it was still really good and nearly 200K over what I owe on my house and over their "initial" estimate that was the basis for the first offer. They sent me the appraisal and then today rejected my application with no reason, via email. You can NEVER speak to your representative when you call. They claim someone will call back, but they never do. I believed they were acting in good faith, but was shocked to realize that this must be some sort of scam. I am going to file a police report, too. I had plans and needed to access the equity in my home asap and now I'm back where I started and worried they will misuse my personal data. I agree that apparently they had no real intention to do what they advertise.

Still waiting after 11 weeks. Started off well. Was told by my case manager ***** that it would take 5-6weeks for funding. Applied on Aug. 8, 2024. Had the Appraisal on August 17, 2024. Did not hear anything till Sept. 20, 2024 when they sent me a copy. Sept.27 I was told there were issues with the title. Told them to move forward and resolve issues. 10-4 assigned a processor. 10-5 asked for proof of insurance. 10-9 received copy of title report and request to resolve title issues.10-22 got the ok from title company that they had all info needed to proceed. ***** *** my processor notified me that there is another issue related to my title. I contacted the title company and they confirmed that they had all the paperwork for my title. It seems this company strings people along. I checked the website yesterday and it now states typical funding is 2months. When a person applies and is approved for this then told 5-6 weeks. That is what I expect. I think that they knowingly lie about how long it takes to get thru their process just so they can rope more people in. People plan around the time frame that they are originally given. I could have worked with another company that could have closed in 21 days. But I chose this because of the 30 year term. Now Im in limbo and my credit is tanking thanks to Point not delivering on its product. How many other folks are in the same situation?

*********, we apologize for the frustration this extended timeline has caused. We understand that delays can be challenging, especially when youre planning around an expected timeframe. While our goal is always to complete the process within the initial 56 week estimate, some situationslike complex title issuesmay extend the timeline. In your case, additional judgments on the title required clarification and coordination with the title company to ensure all issues were resolved correctly for the payoff. Weve been working closely with them to clarify these details and secure the necessary support. Our records show that youre scheduled to meet with a notary to close, and were excited to see you get funded soon. Thank you for your patience, and please dont hesitate to reach out if you need further assistance.

I have been working with Point since July 1, 2024 in an attempt to close an HEI. As of today, September 16, 2024, I have made over 20 telephone calls for status and follow up. I have provided all of the items they have requested over the 45 days in which this HEI has been processing. The customer service lead ***** provided me with his telephone number of which he doesn't answer, my account manager ***** ***** provided me with his direct number in which he never answers. When I call the customer service line someone in the *********** answers just to tell me that they can take a message for the account manager to call me back because his schedule doesn't allow him to answer calls at the moment. This company clearly has some issues, possibly administrative. I appears that processing is all over the place in that 1 document is requested every ***** days versus asking for the documents upfront all at once. There is an online system in which status does not exist however it has the ability to allow documents to be downloaded. Thats it. If requested, you download a document and wait. You wont hear anything until you call back and leave a message an then possibly the account manager will call you back and request ANOTHER document. Dont let the overly positive reviews fool you. This company was a money grab from investors from jump. They have no real intention to do what they advertise.

A great way to tap into your equity if you dont qualify for other financing options. The no income requirement is a lifesaver if youre self employed. Would recommend.

Points HEI was a good fit for our needs. Pricing is comparable to other equity products but we liked the no monthly payments. Simple transaction, streamlined, and supportive team.
