I paid 95 cents for what I thought was a one time use of Spokeo. I then received notice today (8/30) from PayPal that I'd just been charged a $24.95 fee for a month. I called customer service at Spokeo and was told that the $.95 gave me entrée into a seven day free trial and since I didn't cancel at the end of the free trial I was then charged the $24.95. I told customer representative that Spokeo's ad is misleading and I wanted to cancel and receive a refund. I was told that I could be issued a partial refund of $9.98. I've had an issue with this company before, and it really has to do with privacy. The company sells people's personal information and does not seem to honor their promise to remove said information if a person requests it. I did this in the past (many years ago), and my request was ignored. I contacted the ********************** about it, and suddenly my information was taken down. Well, on a whim, I recently decided to check and see if my information was once again on the site. And not surprisingly, it was available to whomever was willing to purchase it. I made my request last night, and so far, nothing has been done to remove my information. ********* information is also on the site, and I requested her information be removed, as well. This company obviously doesn't feel compelled to honor the terms of their policies, so I do feel compelled to reach out to a company that does follow through. As such, I was hoping you guys would contact this company and let them know that you have been alerted to their dirty business practices.Business Response

I purchased a reverse phone look up for **** or *** cents whichever it advertised and used the service and can't say I didn't get any more information that I would of off of a free site anyway. About a week later I get a bill through PayPal for ***** saying I set up autopay for a monthly charge which I don't ever remember doing I was charged for 1 time use. If I wanted to sign up I woulda signed up...there's not even an option to unsubscribe and I consider it a scam. I had a similar issue with ******** and they issued me a full refund. Spokeo however said out of the ***** charge I'd only be authorized for **** refund and I don't find that acceptable. Spokeo.com has 2 public profiles for me (***********), they are public and misrepresenting information about me. The following is accurate to the best of my knowledge. I have been charged by Spokeo ****** for the past eight months (since Jan 17), which has just come to my attention. I show no email records of receipts (including the Spam folder) for these recurring charges of ******* To my knowledge, I have not used their service (naturally, since I wasn't aware that I was being charged) since the trial expiry. I used Spokeo to do a reverse phone lookup. The initial charge for the report was only $.95 cents!! I haven't used the service since then in over a year and I got an app that shows me recurring charges and this came up showing I have been billed $24.95 since July 2021. The company Spokeo unauthorizely charge my debit card ending in 0510 for the amount of 99.80 dollars. When I did a 1 time purchase with their company for 0.95 dollars, it didn't mention any subscription that I was unauthorizely signed up for. It had no mention of this on their order page. I also didn't get any email confirmation of the charges. For May, June, July, and August, I have been charged 24.95 dollars per month which add up to 99.80 dollars. They are refusing to provide a refund for this amount. Spokeo did not have my authorization to charge put me into the monthly subscription and charge me for it.Business Response
