The company, 7 Cups, has extracted my name and bio from some source and is using it in their directory without my permission. I want to be removed from their platform and directory. I have made several requests for removal and yet I am still being listed.

      Hi there,

Thank you for contacting 7 Cups. 7 Cups is the worlds largest mental health community. We have over ******* trained volunteer listeners across 189 countries that provide support in 140 languages. We have reached over 73 million people. Often, we need to make referrals to licensed clinicians, shelters, and food pantries. That is why we built our provider directory and local support service. We are now starting to make referrals to local clinicians.

The goal of the local support systems (************************) is to connect people online to services offline so they can get better help. We believe therapists are an important part of local support systems.

I understand that you may have reasons for wanting to be removed, but I wanted to share some additional context that you might find helpful. 7 Cups sends out thousands of free referrals to therapists every month. If someone were to complete the contact form on your profile, we would forward their information to you for follow-up. This would essentially be a free referral for you. We operate similarly with food pantries and shelters, as our goal is to connect people with local resources in their community.

We are providing therapists the option of a free premium month of being listed on 7 Cups to gain additional referrals. We are also providing this premium service to therapists free of charge if they cannot afford it as we think it is important for therapists to get referrals and build their practice. We want to feature as many therapists we can as part of the local support system.

We have deleted your listing and please let us know if you have any questions.

      Best regards,

7 cups has taken information from my website and advertisements and created a page in my name to solicit therapy clients. It states that they will try to get in touch with me if a client requests to connect with me. Which false, they do not, but use it to then solicit. They have no avenue to respond to my complaint requesting they remove my profile

7 Cups of Tea has stolen my therapist profile and posted it on their website, as if I work there. I do not work for them and this is clearly an attempt to steal my referrals. I want my profile removed from their website. This is extremely unethical conduct.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. I believe the business should be stopped from this unethical practice of republishing people's information without their permission with the intention of stealing their referrals, but I know that enforcing such action is beyond what the BBB is capable of.

I am a licensed psychologist, and the company "7 Cups" has created a fraudulent therapist profile using my name and credentials without my consent. This profile misrepresents my involvement with the platform and falsely implies an affiliation or endorsement. Additionally, my professional information is being used on their website to advertise services I do not offer, potentially misleading potential clients into believing I am affiliated with the company. I have not been contacted or compensated for using my information. I would like them to take my information off of their website.*******************************************************************************

I have been made aware that my therapist profile data, which was previously listed on the paid service Psychology Today, has been extracted, processed using an AI language tool, and reposted on the platform 7 Cups. This has been done without my consent. 7 Cups claims to provide profile hosting services and offer free services, but by presenting my data without permission, they are misrepresenting my professional information. Additionally, this creates confusion for potential clients who may mistakenly believe I am affiliated with 7 Cups. To further investigate, I tested the referral system by using an alternate email, only to find that no referral was sent to me. Instead, the referral was forwarded to 7 Cups' own services, indicating an intentional use of my data without authorization. I contacted 7 Cups regarding this issue on 5/25/2025 and received follow-up on 7/28/2025 from 7 Cups offering paid services but also indicated they will remove my profile within 48 hours if requested ("If you do not wish to have your profile listed and decide not to become part of our local support network then please let us know and we will delete your profile within 48 business hours."). I have sent additional follow-up emails on 5/28/2025 and 4/2/2025 requesting my profile to be removed immediately. As of 4/7/2025 my profile has not been removed despite asking multiple times. I have also observed that several of my colleagues profiles have been similarly stolen and posted on their website. This situation is concerning, as it not only violates my privacy but also misleads potential clients and provides great risk to people accessing mental health services. I am seeking immediate action to have my profile removed from the platform and their actions investigated.

I am a mental health therapist in **************, ** and it recently came to my attention that an online therapy provider/directory called 7 Cups of Tea Co. has listed my professional information without my knowledge or consent to market their therapy services. While it does indicate that I am not a 7 Cups employee, it is giving potential clients who are interested in working with me the option to "message me," but these messages will never reach me and these clients will instead be referred to one of their own employees. In doing so, this tarnishes my professional image and reputation, it diverts potential income away from me, and it is also misleading and wasting the time of people seeking mental health therapy. I have attached screenshots that show my profile listed on their website. I also found profiles for several of my colleagues, none of whom gave their consent to be listed. As an experiment I went about trying to contact one of my colleagues for therapy services as if I was a potential client, and I have attached a screenshot of the email I received from 7 Cups. The email states that they had contacted the provider I selected, which was my colleague ****** *******, but she received no email from them about a potential client inquiry. This clearly shows that when clients are trying to contact us through this website, we, the providers, never actually receive these emails and these clients are referred to 7 Cups therapy providers/services instead. I have completed a request to have my information removed from their website, sent a formal cease and desist to their legal team, and notified the office of the Utah attorney general, but I wanted to file a BBB complaint as well. I believe that these actions violate the ****** Act, which is designed to keep companies from profiting from the name and professional qualifications of others without consent. This business should be held accountable.

Seven cups is using my profile without my permission. They took the information from my legitimate Psychology Today profile. There is a false link to contact me. In a referral group I am a part of, it was brought to our attention that the therapist directory, 7 Cups, has been stealing therapist information and creating a webpage with it on their directory without consent. This directory page also has a contact this therapist link that says I will be contacted, when in fact I previously had no knowledge of or contact with 7 cups, and they then send the potential client an email saying that the therapist is not responding and then offering up other therapists who they are partnered with. I discovered my information on this site and immediately contacted 7 cups to remove my information within 48 hours as I did not consent to its use (almost a word for word copy of another directory I am on as well as my photo). I did not receive a response for over 2 days, where instead of agreeing to remove my information, the "7 cups support team" as it was signed off with, where they state that they do forward all attempted contact to therapists in their directory (untrue as I posed as a potential client to test it after they stated this), and attempted to bribe me with a free premium membership on their site to continue to maintain my information on their site. I then reiterated my statement of immediate removal of my information and have not heard back from them since. 7 cups is falsely advertising to clients that the therapist they are attempting to reach out to has not responded, which in turn generates more referrals to their partners.

7 Cups of tea - therapy site lifted my professional bio from the psychology today website- tweeked the bio- perhaps with AI...and they have listed me as one of their clinical providers. This is very dangerous- and illegal. I have sent several Cease and Desist emails to 7 cups of tea support team since Friday. Please help- they have the ability to re-direct vulnerable people seeking help- (who think they are reaching out to me apparently) and connect them with a "listener" (no clinical info.) I have no affiliation with this company. They are committing fraud. Thank you for your help.
