On June 8th, 2024 I received a deceptive letter regarding contacting their offices within 10 days regarding "adjustments of your credit accounts". The letter furthers lists most main US banks and says if I have an account with one of those or other lenders that I could be entitled to a settlement of outstanding balance. If I didn't respond, it would "result in interest accurring on your unsecured credit card balances at an unreasonable rate". I believe this is a scam and the letter doesn't have a company address anywhere or company name at the top. There is a fine print at the bottom that says Debt Advisors of America. I don't have any loans. I make monthly credit card payments and that's it. This letter is causing me a lot of mental and physical distress. There is a notice number at the top that says D4T7-04309, the date of notice is 6/5/2024. The phone numbers listed are ************ and ************Business Response

I am writing to file a formal complaint against Debt Advisors of America concerning a letter I received from them on May 28, 2024. The letter appeared to be a debt collection notice urging me to respond "regarding the adjustments of your credit accounts". This is the second letter I have received from this company in the last six months.Unlike correspondence I have received from reputable companies, this letter had ************************* listed where the company information and return address should have been. The letter listed several banks with which I do business and again urged me to respond within 10 days under a section with **Failure to Respond** in bold letters. After looking closer, I realized the letter is a deceitful marketing solicitation. Buried in the small print at the very bottom of the letter is the company name - Debt Advisors of America. It was not listed or mentioned anywhere else in the letter. This notice led me to believe I had accounts in default when in actuality all of my credit accounts are in good standing. This letter is deceptive, intentionally misleading, and appears to be a scare tactic to con unsuspecting people out of giving their personal information and/or signing up for their program. I do not know how this company obtained my information, and I do not want to receive any additional correspondence from them. Any further contact from them will be considered harassment.I request that the Better Business Bureau investigate this matter and take appropriate action against Debt Advisors of America to prevent them from continuing these deceptive practices.Business Response

I received a letter from the company stating that I need to contact them within ten days of receipt of the letter. I am up-to-date on all of my credit card payments and do not know how this company got my information. Additionally, I did not even know the name of the company until I saw the fine print at the bottom of the letter as others had. I need my name and information removed from their marketing list as this is an extremely underhanded way to scare individuals into participating in what is most likely a scam. People are struggling enough and to have a company essentially steal information as a way to make money is truly scummy behavior.Business Response

Hired Debt Advisors of America to settle my debt. They included seven places in the agreement:Bank of America Chase,***********,Bank of *****,Victorias Secret,CareCredit,Citibank. In the process of this duration, they had informed me they settled with five of them, and they were out of the picture already. The other two remaining they stated, they had sent to Oakstone law group.Upon completion of this, I had made every payment every month for 3 to 4 years until this part of my agreement was paid in full and paid off. Approximately almost a year later now, I am getting letters from *********** and Bank of Omaha. *********** is wanting to sue me and take me to court and Bank of Omaha is wanting to offer me a settlement amount to clear off with them. *** also gotten calls from places saying that Oakstone law group had went out of business and went bankrupt, and when you call the number, it says vacant or been disconnected. I am getting letters from law firms attorneys who want to represent me that have said they found out Im being sued by *********** and would like to represent me on my behalf against them. In my view, did not ask Debt Advisors Of America to transfer me to Oakstone law group, and I have done more than needed on my behalf on my part of the agreement and have paid it off completely. I am filing a complaint today against Debt Advisors Of America , whom I have hired as my Debt settlement agency on this issue to begin with and completed my part in full per the payments and the agreement.Business Response

I received a letter titled ************************* in place of where the return address is meant to be. The letter itself is deceptive and a scare tactic to con people. On April 15 2024 I received a letter that appeared to be a debt collection notice, urging immediate response. However, upon closer inspection, I realized it was a marketing tactic. I have never sought their services, and should I require debt relief assistance, I would conduct thorough research to select the most reputable provider, not one that resorts to misleading strategies to ensnare those in need. The correspondence was from Debt Advisors of America. Firstly, the companys name was buried in small print at the bottom of the page, making it difficult to identify the sender. Secondly, despite managing my credit card payments and student loans responsibly and maintaining a good credit standing, this notice, resembling a debt collection letter, led me to suspect a potential scam aimed at extracting personal information for identity theft or that I had already fallen prey to such a scheme. It was only upon reading the tiny print that I recognized it as a solicitation. This approach to business, with its intentionally ambiguous language, imposed deadlines, and implied financial threats for non-compliance, is highly deceptive. It preys on the vulnerable and must be addressed. Such deceptive marketing practices are unacceptable and must cease, or legal measures will be pursued. The integrity of client acquisition methods is paramount, and companies should adhere to ethical standards that respect potential customers circumstances and intelligenceBusiness Response

This is not an "offer" that I or anyone else rejected. This is a scam and needs to be stopped. STOP sending scam notices out to consumers about their credit cards. First, you do not list anything correctly so it appears that we have credit cards "out there" so possibly we are dealing with identity theft. I literally went and paid for a complete and thorough credit report to ensure none of the cards you listed that I had were open. You should actually reimburse those of us that paid to do this. Stop this practice immediately! It is a scam.Business Response

I received a notification in the mail from Debt Advisors of America; 1st issue: I had to search the letter and read the fine print at the very bottom to find the name of the company who sent this notice. 2nd issue; I have a number of credit cards that I am paying off as well as student loans, and received what looked like a debt collection notification, I make my payments on time and I am in good standing, so I thought either this is a scam to get me to call and give someone my information for possible identity theft or I was possibly already a victim. It was only when I read the very fine print at the bottom that I realized this was a solicitation letter. I think this is a very deceptive method of doing business or recruiting clients, the wording is intentionally misleading, there is a time limit, and the use of threatening financial consequences if the notice is ignored.Business Response

To the Concerned Officials at the Better Business Bureau,
I am compelled to express my profound indignation and alarm regarding the egregious conduct of Debt Advisors of America. Over the past 3 years, my trust has been betrayed and my financial stability jeopardized due to their flagrant neglect and mismanagement of my funds amounting to over $22,000.
This company's failure to communicate and provide the services they charged for is not only unprofessional; it borders on the fraudulent. The complete blackout of communication from their end has been a deliberate act, leaving me to grapple with an escalating legal crisis single-handedly. Despite repeated attempts to reach them, my efforts have been met with a disquieting silence.
Their actionsor, more accurately, inactionshave directly resulted in my finances being entangled in legal proceedings with the Central District of California court system, a situation that could have been mitigated with the competent advisement I was led to believe I was purchasing.
I denounce Debt Advisors of America with the strongest conviction. They have not only failed me but have also exhibited a pattern of behavior that suggests a systematic exploitation of those seeking their help. By this communication, I seek to alert and forewarn all potential customers to steer clear of this deplorable enterprise.
I demand immediate attention to this matter and insist on a thorough examination of their practices, which have proven detrimental to mine and my familys financial and emotional well-being.Business Response

To Whom It May **************************** Urgent Appeal for Resolution Regarding Mismanaged Account
I wish to extend my gratitude for your time and effort in addressing the communications regarding the mismanagement of my account by **********************, and the subsequent complications involving ***************** and Morning *************** Despite the unresolved status of over $22,000 which remains out of my possession, I recognize any efforts made thus far to navigate this complex situation.
This letter, however, is penned not as a mere continuation of our dialogue but as an ******* appeal for a conclusive resolution. The financial hardship this ordeal has imposed upon me and my family cannot be overstated, and while I am grateful for the attention given to my case, I must assert that my commitment to securing a just resolution is unwavering.
I am compelled by both duty and necessity to defend my family's financial security. The consideration of legal counsel and action springs from this imperative, not a desire for conflict. It is my sincere hope that an equitable solution can be reached swiftly, without the need for further escalation.
Therefore, I urge Debt Advisors of America to take decisive and effective steps to amend this situation. I view this communication not as a threat but as a pledge to pursue justice and as a call for an amicable resolution. My preference is to conclude this matter through mutual understanding and respect, yet my resolve to ensure fairness prevails is steadfast.
Thank you once again for your attention to this matter. I await a prompt and constructive response, hopeful for a resolution that will allow us to move forward.
